Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Why the decision to switch from bone meal to fish bone meal? Is fish bone meal the same as fish emulsion? What's up with crylo's PH? U see any lockout syptoms? 7.1 is a little out of the desired range. When my runoff (typically lower than higher) is out of range my girl start "acting out". If I need to read back because I missed somethin jus say so and I look for it. Lookin good as usual Ab. I meant to ask what's the contraption that u tied the heavy, bud laden, limbs to for support?

If I need to read back because I missed somethin jus say so and I look for it. Lookin good as usual Ab. I meant to ask what's the contraption that u tied the heavy, bud laden, limbs to for support?

I added the fish bone meal to provide another alternate source for nutrients. That is the general reason for my using so many nutrient sources - I want to push my girls as hard as I can, and providing multiple sources for the same basic elements seems to help with uptake.

CryLo's new leaves always seem to be showing signs of pH issues. I need to give her a full flush to reset her soil pH. I'm not sure what changed, but my recent soil mix seems to be at fault, as this appears to be an issue to some degree for all of them. CryLo just seems more sensitive to it. She seems to be growing all right in general though.

I am beginning to wonder if something I am feeding them is causing a drift in pH over time. Does anyone have any experience with something like that?

That 'contraption' is a very simple trellis. I use four 5' bamboo poles evenly spaced around the the pot, inserting them down into the soil along the inside surface. This puts the tops of the poles about 4' above the soil surface. I then connect the tops with 2' long pieces of bamboo. I add one more piece diagonally across the top to add rigidity and keep it square. This gives me a horizontal bar all the way around the outside and one across the middle to hang the branches from. I can also tie the main stem to the verticals to pull a plant fully upright if it develops a lean.

I was previously just putting poles around the edge to hold up the branches, but after a while it got crowded and hard to pour the feed into the pot between the uprights. This was the solution I came up with. If I was doing a better job trimming under the canopy and tying up branches when they need it, I would have fewer messes like KK2 was just before harvest. Even with the best plan, you have to follow through. ;) I keep trying.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

So today I finished writing out my nutrient regimen, from beginning to end. Clone to harvest, every recipe I use. I will post it, but I want to edit it some more.

However, a difficulty has arisen. I decided, and correctly I believe, to convert everything to metric. It makes measurement much simpler and it consolidates teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces and gallons into a single continuous scale. But there is really one issue that causes a problem for me: the gallon.

1 tsp = 5 ml

1 tbsp = 3 tsp = 15 ml

1 oz = 2 tbsp = 6 tsp = 30 ml

Those are all close enough so as to not matter. They are all fine conversions. And then...

1 gallon = 3.78541178 liter

So now I have two choices: either use an acurate conversion and work in units of 3.8 liters, or choose to convert 1 gallon to 4 liters exactly, and then adjust the remainder of the regimen to get the same results. Because doing that would dilute practically every recipe I use. I wrote down 16 different recipes today, and some have options (one has 16 possible outcomes). That's a lot of readjusting, or I would immediately choose that route. But working in units of 3.8 liters just makes the OCD side of me want to shudder. It would never come out even. :shudder:

I guess the choice is made. Sometimes you just have to write it out. I could delete all this, but I guess it's always better to share.

So I think I will change it back to non-metric units for the current posting. It will be a snapshot of exactly where I am now. But to confuse the issue, I will shortly start reporting in metric, as I work to dial that in. Once that feels right I will repost the updated version in easy metric format.

Any comments? Opinions? I know I ramble and I don't post enough pics, but I really do think of this as a journal.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Probably, but I still want to refine it a bit. Or at least get enough time in on it to know how it will do.

I decided to hard flush the three bloomers with high pH (that were not already getting flushed). So only BD.1J got a full bloom feed. It saved me time, which is good because I had other stuff to do...

Code:
--> BD.1J - Bloom:

1. Pre-flushed: 0.5 gal. (1 gal)
   Per gal:
	 1 T liquid bone meal
   pH adjusted to 6.07 @ 22.7 C
	1/2 T unsulfured molasses

2. Fed BD.1J ('Betty Jane', 38/70 days): 1.5 gal.	(2 gal)
   Fed
   Per gal:
	 2 t liquid bone meal
         2 t Calcium Syrup
	 2 t Biggest Bloom
	 2 t Soil Nute
	 2 t PGE
	 1 t Cal-Mag
	1/2 t TM-7
	 2 t Feather Tea
	1/2 t Carbon sweet
	 1 oz Amino Blast
	 1 oz yucca
	 1 T Notrozyme
   Natural @ 1210 ppm
   pH adjusted to 6.12 @ 22.1 C
	1/2 t Companion

--> Bloom, corrective flushing:

   PS.1E ('Hope', 52/63 days)
   KK2.1B ('Faith', 52/75 days)
   CryLo.1A ('Krystal', 23/?? days)

1. Flushed with water: 4 gal. each (12 gal)
   Per gal:
	 2 T Clearex
   pH adjusted to 6.06

--> G13xGB.1A ('Charity', 52/55 days) - Bloom, finish flushing:

1. Flushed G13xGB.1A with water: 3 gal. (3 gal)
   Per gal:
	 2 T Clearex
   pH adjusted to 6.08

--> Veg 1:

Large veg (9):

   L1, L2, L3

   KK2.1TT
   G13xGB.1DD, G13xGB.1EE, G13xGB.1KK
   L4, L5

1. Fed 0.5 gal. each (6 gal)
   Per gal:
1 T Pure Blend Pro Grow
	 1 t Cal-Mag
        1/2 oz Yucca
   Natural @ 900 ppm
   pH adjusted to 6.06 @ 22.4 C
	1/2 t Companion

--> Veg 2:

Small veg (22):

   PS.2A, PS.2B
   MT1.1A
   MT2.1A
   BD.2A, BD.2B
   CryLo.2A, CryLo.2C
   KK2.2A, KK2.2B
   G13xGB.2B, G13xGB.2C, G13xGB.2D

1. Fed to saturation (2 gal)
   Per gal:
1 t Pure Blend Pro Grow
	 1 t Cal-Mag
        1/2 oz Yucca
   Natural @ 560 ppm
   pH natural @ 6.14 @ 22.5 C
	1/2 t Companion

The runoff was still high. I will try this again.

Code:
Runoff pH:

Plant pH
---------------------
G13xGB.1A	6.98
PS.1E 6.77
KK2.1B 6.85
BD.1J 6.47
CryLo.1A	7.04

Then I chose a plant and put her in. G13xGB.1DD was transplanted into a 5 gallon pot, fed, and thrown into the bloom room. So this is her Day Zero.

Code:
--> Transplanted G13xGB.1DD into a 5 gallon pot with myco:

1. Fed: 1 gal. (1 gal)
   Per gal:
1 T Pure Blend Pro Grow
	 1 t Cal-Mag
        1/2 oz Yucca
         1 t Big Foot
   Natural @ 990 ppm
   pH adjusted to 5.97 @ 22.5 C
	1/2 t Companion
         1 t Bt-i

I was going to take pictures, but the battery is dead and I realize I don't know exactly where the charger is.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I gave away KK2.1TT and L5.

I harvested G13xGB.1A and delivered her to the trimmers.

I brought home the dried KK2. The Kaia Kush is nice smoke, but it's not insanely great, and it is hard to grow in a way that makes it happy. Unless I see new behaviors, I will likely stop growing KK soon.

Here are the pictures from last night...

Most of the clones have survived:

In fact, most of them are ready for transplant:

This method is really getting easy now. 3 weeks and they look great.

By comparison you can see how far CryLo.1A has come in 27 days:

Speaking of CryLo.1A:

Big Grats!!!

All looks fantastic! Plants and room.

"Harvested and delivered to the trimmers..." "Brought back..." Now THAT is handy!

Really great nugs. I really like the look of those G13xGB.

That update was something special bro....nice detailed shots and wow, beautiful buds...:bravo:

I want to RoorRipall those...try em...I know they would be really nice smoke.

:bravo::bravo:

Thank you.

It is very convenient that I have access to full-time trimmers. I paid $60 to have that KK2 trimmed and dried. I just show up and cut the buds from the stems into jars. Lately they have even been helping with that. I don't know what the going rate is elsewhere, but when I consider the trouble of doing all that myself, $60 is a fantastic deal.

The G13xGB nugs are still a bit soft when dry. I want denser nugs from this plant. I'm dropping the room temps to 74F (was averaging 76F) to see if this helps. But they are definitely pretty, and dense or no, they kick my med-using a** every time so far. I've smoked about 2 oz of the original mother's harvest since early April. I love this stuff. :grinjoint:

Thank you. I enjoy growing my girls as big as is manageable in a 9x9x9 box. It is nice to have more than I need. There are many local med users that benefit, so it kinda feels good that way too.

No runoff pH because I ran out of sample cups.

OK. More accurately, I have 600 3oz plastic cups somewhere. I just can't find them, and I ran out of the ones I was using. :bong:

6.00 is the new 6.20 I guess anyway.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Ab, out of curiosity of your sitation;

How far do you have to drive with your untrimmed harvest to the trimmers?

As in, is it a paranoid trip with all that bud in the car?

Same with when you get rid of clones, and I assume, take them to your mentor for him to re-distribute to other patients? That has to be a little paranoid driving with actual plants.

Are the local LEO pretty laid back when it comes the MediMarijuana laws around you? Any real presence of feds around you?

Just very curious as I am super paranoid when it comes to this stuff and am trying to get a better insight into how it is treated in a medi state such as Oregon.

I know you have the piece of paper that says you are good to go, but that means nothing to the feds if they cared to go after you.

I'm not paranoid. I'm not breaking any state laws and the feds are interested in people who sell, really. I don't do it high, but then I don't drive high either. As long as I'm within my numbers and the plants and bud I don't keep are given for free to other card holders like the law says I think I'll be fine. That said, I do it in the dark so my neighbors won't see me doing it.

I have not had an encounter that tested the local LEOs, but my mentor gave them a tour of his grow, and he continues unbothered the same way as always. I am sure they are keeping their eyes out and I have no doubt that the feds are around. Frankly though, I have not heard about anyone getting popped for anything at all in the last few years if they were within the state law. Your experience may vary.

I found some 60's themed Dixie cups in the garage. They have flowers and peace and tie-dye and magic buses all over them. They'll do until I find those sample cups.
