It's one of our goals here to get this out there so it's no longer a secret and, in fact, is so well known and so well documented that it can't be ignored any longer.
 
This information about Citicoline was shared by Cheryl Broyles, a GBM 4 survivor since 2001 copied from her FB page. Basically it outlines why cancer patients should not take it. There is an alternative, see the end.

CITICOLINE with Medical Marijuana

I just got this Citicoline information (see below) from a fellow brain tumor friend. WOW it's scary that I've been on the Citicoline for about 2 years now! I'm never taking Citicoline again! Just wanted to let others know too that may be on it.

We have been suggesting citicoline, but new research has shown that caution may be advised for cancer patients. Dr. Joe D. Goldstrich has written the following :

A word of caution concerning citicoline. While citicoline has been shown to be beneficial in ameliorating the adverse effects of acute ischemic stroke,The effects of citicoline on acute ischemic stroke: a review. - PubMed - NCBI , it may not be the best agent for supporting cognition while using cannabis to combat cancer, especially glioblastomas and other tumors treated with bevacizumab (Avastin).

Following a stroke, citicoline helps promotes new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) via induction and upregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Induction of VEGF helps promote new blood vessels to the area of the brain undergoing healing and regeneration. Avastin is a monoclonal antibody that blocks angiogenesis by inhibiting VEGF. New blood vessels support the growth of primary tumors and their metastases. Avastin has been used to treat metastatic colon cancer, certain lung cancers, renal cancers, ovarian cancers, and several eye diseases that are characterized by excessive vascularization (e.g. diabetic retinopathy).Bevacizumab - Wikipedia

Avastin and citicoline appear to have opposite effects on new blood vessel formation. While new blood vessels may be an important aspect of recovery from an acute ischemic stroke, shutting down blood flow to primary and metastatic tumors is a way of destroying these cancers.

Citicoline is also beneficial in acute ischemic stroke and retinal neurodegeneration by helping injured brain and retina cells stay alive. It has an anti-apoptotic action. THC is thought to help kill cancer cells by inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death). As you can see, citicoline appears to promote (at least in acute ischemic stroke) VEGA and anti-apoptosis. For these reasons it seems prudent to not use citicoline as a cognition booster and psycho activity inhibitor in conjunction THC treatments for cancer.

Another nootropic nutraceutical, Bacopa monnieri, appears to have pro-apoptotic actions A pro-apoptotic 15-kDa protein from Bacopa monnieri activates caspase-3 and downregulates Bcl-2 gene expression in mouse mammary carcinoma cells. - PubMed - NCBI and may thus be a better nutritional supplement for countering THC induced psycho activity.

I've seen enough similar info that I'm not taking chances with Citicoline. I've never used it myself, but know of a free very hypersensitive-to-thc kind of folks that do.
I've asked the Mods to delete the citocholine info, at least on my threads.
 
I've some good news.
I'm in the DMH Cancer Center getting my melanoma on my scalp verified.

I told my oncologist I'd get rid of it within a month. I was wrong.
It took 3 days shy of a month.

All tests show no signs of the melanoma this morning.

FU¢K You Cancer.
 
Excellent news! Did you have a pathology report that identified the cells? Lost my mom to melanoma, her initial biopsy was incorrect, a year later it was identified and was too late to treat effectively. What I know about melanoma is that it needs to be stopped early and removed completely. Once it metastasizes, it is very hard to stop it from spreading. Have you applied other treatments, in addition to cannabis?

I'm sorry for your loss Circuit. I know that's rough. Melanoma hits hard in Stages 3 & 4.
I didn't use any other med than the CCO. Alot of our patients at work are fussing with melanoma too unfortunately, but CCO is consistently & highly effective against it thankfully.
 
Hello my friends, I have been using the information on this site for personal use for a few yrs. as a non-member, but I am now faced with a fight. My Mom 71 yrs old diagnosed with lung cancer and she is refusing all conventional treatment but she is willing to try CCO. so i joined this site and I need your help. I have been reading all the cco posts for the last week and I'm 50 pages in to a 120 page post How to make cco and i just cant read anymore I need to take action. I have questions that i couldnt find exact answers too. I'm sorry if this is redundant but i really tried to search for these answers to no avail...

I am trying to keep it non euphoric and she has dentures so I'm not sure if tacking will work so questions are:

1. If I keep the oil from being activated by heat will it still have the proper THC levels to fight lung cancer?

2. If I have to activate it by decarb will the Backdoor delivery method still produce euphoria.

3. vaping is direct lung exposure, is this considered the best delivery for lung cancer minus the euphoria

4. i know this is a tricky topic but what is the best or favored carrier, I found Naptha at local paint store but I'm not sure if its pure and or safe but it is much cheaper than grain alcohol plus I am a recovering alcoholic so no booze in the house is a good thing.

We have members who use their dentures to more easily facilitate tacking. Ask about this on the Dosing Tutorial thread.

Hello OU8one2. So sorry to hear about your mother. Take a deep breath and relax a moment. Let's see if we can get you straightened away. The most pertinent information in all the threads is in the first few pages. Beyond that it becomes discussion and refinement. There's value in reading it, but you have more immediate needs. Go to any of those threads in real time (the last page) and ask your questions.

Cajun is working out of town and has sporadic check-ins available. There's no telling when he'll be here for the next two weeks. So let's do what we can, and get you redirected. I've answered your questions above with what I feel are your best options at getting the answers you seek. I'm sorry this appears splintered. It actually keeps the information more controllable, and you hit a broad spectrum in that post.

I hope I've helped some. The Oiler's United! thread exists for more casual conversation about all these things and more. I encourage you to check it out. They're a very supportive and knowledgable group. We're all learning a bunch of new stuff together and it's nice to have extra heads to work through the challenges.

No. You'll need to decarb/activate the cannabinoids to fuss with cancer.

No. Not if inserted correctly... 2".

The vapor does get it to the lungs, but as SG stated, there's not enough meds for cancer.

Unless your in Canada where naptha is entirely different than in the US...DO NOT even touch the stuff.
Use ethanol/grain alcohol
 
Lots don't realize that the naptha Rick is/was using is WAY different than what is sold at Home Depot in the U.S.
Unless you have a vacuum oven, do not use anything but ethanol/grain alcohol.

hi Panacea,

the link is to an MSDS sheet for VMP Naptha That is the exact product I can get and its made in Canada but i am in the US, so I am confused are you trying to say this is safer than US made or that it is just not safe at all. I am referring to "safe" to use in a human consumtion kinda safe ...I am well aware of the fire safety issues with any carrier...thank you

ps: I will most likely use the grain and look into recovering it.
