700W LED - Auto Topping Grow - 2 Plants

I agree mr krip that an indoor grow would probably not need washed but buds can accumulate dust and hairs, moreso if you have pets, facial hair or long hair. It is supposed to speed up drying as well with no negative effects. Have also heard it tastes better and smokes better too but i have yet to try washed v unwashed. I have testers ready for next month so will let you know my findings. It cannot hurt to try and see the results for yourself. If you are not convinced then you havent lost anything other than the price of some baking soda and lemon juice. On the other hand if you are convinced then you can do it for all your grows. I will buy and smoke unwashed buds cos i have done so for years and will continue to do so. It all about trial and error and taking the plunge for a one off. I was skeptical about bud washing for the same reasons you are - dunking buds into water and swishing them around! Once it was explained to me then it made sense and wasnt afraid to do it.
What's the recipe for the bud wash. I've been converted! I'm outdoors and am in the process of harvesting 1 of my girls. Thanks again...

Well i did a 3 stage wash on my plants due to budrot and PM. if you didnt have either then just a 2 stage wash is all you will need. BR and PM will require hydrogen peroxide, available from any major chemist/pharmacy, 3% h2o2 is only needed but if you get stronger just dilute it more. Mix approx 250ml of h2o2 with 5L of water (not cold, room temp is best) - stage 1. Mix 15ml lemon juice and 15g of baking soda per litre of water (room temp) - stage 2. Stage 3 - bucket of plain water, straight from the tap is ok. Swirl/agitate branches/buds in each bucket for approx 30 seconds or just leave them sitting in the bucket for a while (i was lazy so dunked in, swirled a few seconds then left in bucket while i sorted next plant for wash). After all 3 buckets leave to drip dry with a fan blowing air around them and then trim. Hang to dry as normal. I prefer to trim fresh rather than dry but each to their own. Take a branch or 2 off and dont wash, keep it separate and then test them to see if you notice a difference.

If only 2 stage wash is needed then skip stage 1 and just do stages 2 and 3.

Hemi saturday mate she will be pulled out of tent and she will get a harvest photoshoot in natural lighting as i always do. 3 more days mate then u will see her true beauty:);)

SHIT!!! Bud Rot!! I had this girl so dense that I could have broken a window with the to top buds. I found a bit of bud rot in the tops of 4 of these colas. This is my fault. I let them go an extra week and half. Should have cut them, especially considering I was not able to control the humidity. Definitely easier to grow in the winter :(

Well cut out the rotten parts and make sure you wash them. This will ensure any remaining spores are killed off and wont spread to the good parts. If you got plenty of bud then cut away more than what is neccessary just to be on the safe side.

I will do this. I was also thinking of cutting the entire batch into individual buds and drying then in the oven at about 100 degrees overnight. Do you think this will do any good?

Here u go hemi mate u twisted my arm .pulled her out for pics.but glad i did.she is so beautiful.here is northern light blue auto in all her glory;)

Keep it below 90 degrees C or some of the volatile terps will begin to vaporise.

I will copy and paste the same thing I posted on Glasgrows thread when he had some bud rot...

Anytime I have had a worry of mould, I like to dry the buds thoroughly, then jar them for a couple of days for a quick cure. Then I give them a 10 minute blast in the oven @ 75 degrees C.

This ensures the buds are fully dry, but not crumbly ( Just enough moisture left to cure). Doing it this way I have never had any issues since

The main issue with bud rot isn't it spreading during the drying process... It's when slightly damp or infected buds are placed into containers to cure it then rips your crop apart.

Thanks very much Mono. This is where I was heading too. The humidity here is 76% today and not expected to drop for 3 days. I figured that 100-120F should remove all of the humidity from the oven and let it dry more quickly.

thanks again

:welldone:Holy shit, that is one beautiful girl. Looking at those photos actually took my breath away. :bravo:
I am very glad that I twisted your arm.

As for bud rot, I have a Flash Seeds #1 outside at a remote location that I can only get to once a week. It is growing so thick in the center and with the addition of super high humidity I am seeing some bud rot. Any suggestions on getting under control? This girl has at least 3 weeks left out there. I was thinking about grabbing a tomato cage to put around it to spread out her outer branches, opening the center up to more airflow. I cut off what I could see today but won't be able to go back out until next week.

All suggestions welcome.
