600W LED Grow

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Yes...but you actually have to purchase the fan...as well as some sort of enclosed hood...those bastards can get pricey...flex, connectors etc. These all add up, but nowhere near enough to offset to price difference in a 600w HID.

I hope like hell it works, no way I'll ever shell out $1900 bucks for one, but if it works, then we know it's just a matter of time before the price gets down to a level that most, if not all, growers can afford.

Hey SW, what does "works" mean to you? I have know doubt the light "works" as Mike thinks but does it make up for its extra cost and then there's the problem of most growers living in cooler climates and now have to spend more money in Heating their room then they do in lighting half the year.
Now if by works you mean Irish is going to pull off 2 lbs + then we have a break through...he's learned quite a bit using LED's and is approaching this grow way better with the LSTing. Will it be enough that Hydroponic stores would carry them and recommend them...we wait with dry throat breath....LOL

Works for me means equal production with a 600w HID...for the cost it should outperform a 1kw and a 400w also, but that'tll never happen. It's purely performance with me. Now when they get a 600w led that can perform equally with a 600w HID, I'll know that all we're waiting on is the price to get in line.
If you want to lst for penetration reasons, then an 8 bulb, 432 w flouro package will get all the results you'll ever want, at a fraction of the cost.
I want them to work, you have no idea how bad I want them to, it'll simplify my life considerably, but I'm not paying 1900 bucks for performance I can buy now for 600 or so.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

you still need to run a vent fan with these 600w led lights. it raises my room 8-10F*. but since its cold out i leave the vent fan off and it puts my temps right where i need them. but i would have to agree, the price is very steep on all leds. mike actuly has some of the cheaper prices around. but i understand its hard to spend that much money unless if this light produces some great buds.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Strike the fan purchase/operational costs from the positive side.

No matter, I still am very interested in this grow and will watch closely.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

I'll be lurking for this one irishboy!

I don't think you'll need any luck to succeed with the grow, but you might need some to keep people from jacking your thread! :focus:

And isn"t your room like 8 x 8 or something? The pressure's on you now buddy,,,,LOL....How big a canopy are you going to try to get before switching them to flower?

So tell me SW...now knowing that this light will do just as much as the HID or slightly better and the price drops to $1200 from $1800 compared to a $350 HID...I would be interested in knowing what part of the country the buyer's are from and their reasons.

I would be amazed and hoping that Irish documents the first 2grammer in internet history....LOL.... I would be impressed if he pulled anything around 1.5....if Irish manages a grammer, then even if the prices being equal would have to think about it as the people I help out usually need to heat supplement their grows for 6 mos out of the year with LED and about 4 with out only less so. Go Irish Go!

my room is like 10x6x8. i will probley let them get 20-24" high with LSTing before switching them over.
no pressure is on me unless i screw up some how, witch i will be the first to say so if i did.

the one good thing about these 3w leds is the heat is their, so now i dont have to run my heat like i had to do on my last grow. it coasted me allot of extra cash to run the heat the whole grow, where it would have been cheaper to run my 1000w hps. so the heat on mikes leds is a good thing for me in the winter time, but i am curies to see how it dose in the summer time? i know i would need to run a vent fan but it also gets around 100-115F* in the summer where i am at. so either way i am screwed.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

It will still be easier to vent a slightly hot led panel vs a 1000W hid bro. Ya know? In a way your not screwed! hehe you can grow in winter without a heater, and in summer with smaller ventilation fans.

That's my 2cents bro.

Hope all is well Irish!

ur right. but i am looking at what this light produces on heat in my room vs a 600w hps witch i dont know? if anyone know how much heat a 600w hps produces in a room my size please chime in.

but when i said either way i am screwed i meant because no matter what i use i will still be fighting high heat. because it gets so hot over here.
it is allot easier to vent out a led light then a hps for sure.

Certainly not an ordinay closet......I meant the canopy size,,,what do you think the light will handle...3x3'

I'm sure 60% of the 1000w would be a good guess...LOL

oh i dont know ill find out when i flower. once i flower and find the magic hight to get good flowers then i will be able to say the foot print. i dont have no carting canopy i am trying to keep with my plants. i look at it this way if i cant do 4 big plants under this light then i have no use for it. so we shall see what the foot print is once things go into bloom.

i hope they veg real nice. lots of perlite is a good way to go, because if you get any defencey problems you can fix it faster, plus when it come time to flush it real easy. roots love the air.
this is my first time mixing perlite this heavy but i think this will be my new way of mixing my soil from now on.

my girls are really starting to grow real fast now that i bumped up the nutes yesterday

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Irish the plants look really nice. I love all the perlite, I bet your going to be real pleased with the results. The growth is looking real nice. Good work Irish!!

That HS will be fine, hell you already know that though. A little pH problem is healthy every once in a while- LOL.
