420 Tries Again! 4x4 RDWC 600W Switchable HID & 260W Actual LED

:dude-knocking:
Anybody home!
Mind if I stay a spell? I Have no idea how to grow with a RDWC system but I love the DIY concept. I haven't read through yet but will get caught up by nite's end.
Sorry I never made it sooner Budz!
No apology needed my friend! Glad to have you. DIY is my go to!. well see how this show turns out :)

Had to find this chart again. I keep misplacing it. I’ll leave it here for reference. So I know where it is lol.

OK all caught up. How are the plants today? Still having issues?
The hid has to stay up there due to heat. I may turn it up to 600 but we’ll see.
I noticed your hood has a hookup for the duct. I can drop my temps about 5-8 degrees by sucking the heat out through the lamp. To the point you can touch the top of the hood and not get burned. Try it if you haven't already.

Nice! I didnt even know about the bookmark feature lol. Thanks man!

I have the duct hose running to the light, sucks the air across it. Works well, but the bulb still throws some decent heat. They seem to be ok with the height for now? Well see what happens. Shell be getting cranked up to 600w when flower starts.

It seems youre all caught up now judging by my notifications haha. Thanks again for swinging through brother!

Ive actually gone one step further into the Lucas formula after talking to the hydro guy. You can simplify it even more! So instead of having to buy the Micro at 20$ and the Bloom at 20$. You can get GH's MaxiBloom powdered. 2.2lbs/1kg for 20$. This replaces both the others! Info quoted below. The only other things Ill be using are Cali-Max at 1/4-1/2 strength and Enzymes Komplete at 1/4-1/2 strength. If this works, Ill be so happy! Easy and cheap.

"General Hydroponics have two dry nutrients called MaxiBloom and MaxiGro. Its been found that if you use MaxiBloom in the ratio of 7 grams per 3.78 litres (1 gallon) of water, it produces a very similar effect to the original Lucas Formula which we covered above. MaxiGro wouldn’t need to be purchased which makes it an easier and cheaper method to use.
Simply add 7 grams of MaxiBloom into a cup and dissolve it in some warm water and then add it to your 3.78 litres (1 gallon) of water. pH should then be adjusted accordingly once you have properly mixed in your MaxiBloom to ensure the most accurate readings."

I must have missed the first couple of pages... now all caught up. Have you been to Brother Rifleman's journal yet? Cool cat that is running a tutorial on DWC if you want to check it out.

Nice! I’ll have to check it out brotha. Always up for more learning!

I just did a defol of all the crappy stuff and anything getting in the way of the new healthy growth that’s finally coming back in. I guess both plants got stunted, by either the light on the roots from the previous buckets or the whole swap in general. Anyways, majority of the old junk is gone and new healthy growth is coming in. Hopefully they’ll get the heck going lol. This grow has been set back by 2 weeks veg at minimum. Oh well. I enjoy watching them grow. Check out a few pics!

I love the set up, and I think the plants are doing fine. I wish I knew more about it to give you some feedback. Nice fat green leaves...I always love the fatties.
:laugh::laugh:Were still talking about cannabis leaves right? Lol. Yeah I like how they’re looking. That weird growth earlier sent me for a loop. Don’t like sad plants.

Looking great! Have you considered a cool tube style fixture, with the HID bulb inside a quartz glass tube? I have one like that for my 600 and it gets rid of a ton of heat. Its hard to tell in your pix but I can't see an enclosing tube? They do sap a little light, although the uv yellowed my test piece of newspaper easily so it's getting through. And your bulb won't explode if it gets hit with a single drop of water, as spectacular as that is! Last run I kept it about 18 inches from the plants along with a 200 watt cob, and it all performed great! I'm trying all led this run to reduce the ventilation requirements, but the HID 600 is like an old sweater!
