420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By HashGirl

1/2 pkg Earth Alive
I though uh-oh- that's waaay too much!
....then I noticed that they make it in smaller packages than the 15oz one I've got!
That sounds like a winning blend, HashGirl- I'm going to give some Dynomyco a try on my next indoor grow.
I hope the Cortisone shot helps your knee, at least for awhile!

Drive-by.... @HashGirl how ya doin?

Hi bo.

Well, the inflammation around my knee is greatly reduced so I no longer feel like I'm walking with a peg leg. However, I still have pain in the knee when standing or walking. I was thinking about calling my doctor's office to find out if this is the best that I can expect or if the cortisone is still working and just hasn't completed its job yet.

I haven't prepared any more 5 gallon pots but I definitely need to get on that as the girls are almost 50 days old now. They don't seem big enough to be 50 days old but I guess that's because I'm training them. :hmmmm:

I gave the girls their 2 week GeoFlora feeding today of 2 tbsps each, along with 1 litre of water each. Here are the photos:

And, that's it. Thanks for following along.

Have Felonious do the transplanting for you on any of the ones that are ready to go!

Yeah. Maybe. I hate asking for help as I really prefer to do it myself. I just prepared a second 5-gallon pot between my update above and this one. :battingeyelashes:

However, I'm running out of Dynomyco so I'll either have to ask here if I can get more or use the discount code they provided to me previously to just go and buy it myself. :hmmmm:

Gotta give the shot some time to kick in. I got a few of those shots in my big toe. That hurt... cure worse than the ailment on my end. Hope your up and about in the AM.

The shot will do its thing for a while, months probably. Hope your knee gets back to normal. Arrrr

Yeah, give the shot some time. Pain is such a...well...pain to deal with.

Thanks, guys. I called my doctor's office on Wednesday to ask about it and was told that my doctor was away until Tuesday but the other doctor in the office said:

  • It may not be done working yet.
  • I may need a second shot.
  • It might not work as well as I had hoped.
Obviously, I'm hoping that it will get better but if not, I guess I'll have to figure out something else.

A sore knee prevented me from attending an outdoor event with Felonious yesterday that I really wanted to attend. I don't know if Americans know about Canada's residential schools that stole Indigenous children from their families and abused and killed them. So far, they have found grave sites for over 1000 children. And, this happened as late as 1972.

Anyhow, yesterday, there was an event held by Hamilton's Indigenous Community that I really wanted to go to. It breaks my heart that so many children suffered due to the machinations of the Canadian government and the Catholic church system. When I think of my 5-year-old niece and imagine what was done to Indigenous children, it really is unfathomable.

Yes aware of these injustices.

Canada has embraced native culture and the people far far more than in the USA where we performed systemic genocide to both the Native Americans AND the Bison which was their food source.

Good afternoon.

I've prepared 3 of the 4 5-gallon pots for transplanting the GSCs, which I'm hoping to get to this weekend. The only reason the 4th pot isn't done is because I ran out of Dynomyco. I sent a PM to them but have received no response so Felonious is picking some up for me today while he's out. Once I get that, I can prepare the final pot. And, then in another few days, I'll flip them to flower.

I also applied my new Silica foliar spray to the girls on June 30th.

Here are some photos:

Photo 1 - 420 Info.jpg

I fed them way too much water this week. The chart I keep in the grow room to make notes on had June 24th at the end of the first page and June 25th at the top of the second page. I had watered them on June 24th and flipped the page to page 2 so it would be ready the next day but I didn't look back and I didn't remember and so I watered them again AND THEN, it was feeding day on 28th and I had to water it in so they had that as well. So, obviously I don't know what I'm doing with the watering. I was watering by weight, i.e. placing pot on scale and noting that it's low. I did not measure a 1 gallon pot of ProMix to determine a starting number. I just gave them water if they were below 800g on the scale. I don't know why I picked that number. I just did. :hmmmm:

So, I'm thinking I should get that base number and figure out how much I should actually be giving them and try to not water them too much in the days leading up to feeding day since the GeoFlora has to be watered in.

That said, if I transplant them all to 5-gallon pots this weekend as I intend, I'll be starting off fresh. So, should I water based on weight? Or, should I be watering to run-off either now or once they're moved?

They're looking good but they're starting to show some yellowing. It seems to happen with GF, so you might want to shorten the feeding interval to 10 or 12 days rather than two weeks.

Here's my take on your watering issues, brought to you by the folks at Multi-Quote®:
So, obviously I don't know what I'm doing with the watering. I was watering by weight, i.e. placing pot on scale and noting that it's low.
Watering by weight is best done by lifting the pot to get a feel for the weight, and when it's really light, water to a small amount of runoff for GF.
So, I'm thinking I should get that base number and figure out how much I should actually be giving them and try to not water them too much in the days leading up to feeding day since the GeoFlora has to be watered in.
Ideally, the base number is the weight immediately after transplant but before watering. That would be the dry weight. If you have that measured on a scale, then the time to water would be shortly before the plant is that light!

GeoFlora prefers that we not let our plants dry out as much as we do with synthetic nutes.
That said, if I transplant them all to 5-gallon pots this weekend as I intend, I'll be starting off fresh. So, should I water based on weight? Or, should I be watering to run-off either now or once they're moved?
When you transplant them (and I hope the GF has been already pre-mixed in the soil so it's active on transplant), weigh them before you water as I mentioned. That baseline should be helpful going forward if you're finding it hard to get a handle on the plant-lifting thing.

Thank you, Shed. You truly are a wonderful resource.

Your doing great! I agree with shed on his assignment of GF with your grow. It seems like GSC are a vivacious eater. And require an adjusted feed schedule.
Good luck with your grow!

I think you and they are doing great HG! I just feel for you so much regarding the pain. I wish you would let others help you. :( I know you like doing things yourself...I get it. Sometimes, we just need to let others help so that we can heal. Ok...preachy moment over. Sorry.

As for watering...I'm so with you there. I'm still learning too. I'm currently struggling with different growth patterns and different containers. I can't seem to keep #1's thirst quenched!

Your #3 seems way taller! That one seems to have the most training so far too right?

Thanks, Baked. I like doing things myself because that way I know they'll be done right. For example, my husband is supposed to be taking care of the outside plants but I had to feed them 2 days ago because he hadn't yet because he's not very organized so didn't remember the last time they were fed. I track everything. He tracks nothing. :(

And, on the day in question, he was busy trying to fix the pump for our pool and since he's not very good at that sort of thing, he gets kinda grumpy.

#3 was initially FIMMed but the FIM didn't take so I ended up topping her almost 2 weeks later than when I topped #2 and #4. The training on her didn't really start until after June 15.

#1 has had the most training as she wasn't topped at all. I've just done LST on her.

Too funny! I can relate 100% to most of it as a husband. I am the most disorganized & organized grumpy person around... haaa haaa haaaaa

As for doing right...yup! You pegged me on that one too HG! LOL
