Stage - Veg Day 36 - 24 Days since topping - 50 days above ground

Last night I did the biggest trimming so far. You can see more of the results in the side photos. I wanted to give a major prune a few days before I flip. I plan to flip Thursday starting with 33 hrs of dark to get the clock started at 09:00 to 21:00 Friday for the dark period.

The trimming last night removed all lower branches below the canopy area and largest fan leaves. I also tied down a few branches on #1 to get proper spacing. From this point I don't plan to trim for a few weeks. You can see the individual branches claiming their space for the upcoming stretch with #2 having more solid looking branches.

They don't even look like you removed anything! They are as beautiful as ever.
The pile of leaves was huge. Dozens of leaves removed. I'm giving her a day to recoup before flipping or I would flip now.

Today's Data

Still struggling with nutrient amounts and the runoff ppm is a little high. Best way to get the ppm lower is to increase the solution or frequency of watering. The increases really started showing up when I started rotating the pots and went to two waterings a day so this may be flushing out older salts. I will need to keep a close eye on how the plant reacts over the next few days.

Last Night: Solution input total 1465 ppm. (1020 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.2
#1 800 ml in, 210 ml out (26%) 1932 ppm output. (going up which is not good)
#2 550 ml in, 115 ml out (21%) 1725 ppm output.

Morning: Solution input total 1465 ppm. (1080 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.2
#1 1050 ml in, 275 ml out. (26%) 1957 ppm out
#2 950 ml in, 140 ml out. (15%) 1820 ppm out

I am going to add 100 ml more solution to each plant to try to get the runoff ppm down.

Today's Outside temperatures: High of 120° F (49° C) with Rh going to 5%.

Tent Climate: 79° F (26° C) with Rh at 63%

Tent Room Climate: 74° F (23°C) with Rh at 45%.

Stage - Veg Day 37 - 25 Days since topping - 51 days above ground

I left the plants alone last night letting them rest before I flip. I'm still seeing high run off ppm and did another large water/nutrient feed. No signs of any problems on the plants.

There you go again, Captain Understatement. I'd actually lean a bit the other way. They look pretty damn spectacular!

(We, in the peanut gallery, would appreciate a little more enthusiasm from you when describing your plants. Thanks in advance...) :cheer:

Today's Data

Both plants had heavy runoffs last night. The input amounts weren't really that high but because I trimmed so much I suspect neither plants consumed much water. This morning I was concerned I would have enough solution to get a good runoff.

Last Night: Solution input total 1487 ppm. (1020 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.3
#1 800 ml in, 500 ml out (63%) 1912 ppm output.
#2 600 ml in, 325 ml out (54%) 1790 ppm output.

Morning: Solution input total 1473 ppm. (1020 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.4
#1 1000 ml in, 220 ml out. (22%) 1880 ppm out
#2 1150 ml in, 195 ml out. (17%) 1830 ppm out

Today's Outside temperatures: High of 115° F (46° C) with Rh going to 8%.

Tent Climate: 75° F (24° C) with Rh at 54%

Tent Room Climate: 73° F (23°C) with Rh at 53%.

Stage - Flower Day 1 - 52 days above ground

Last night I decided to flip these two beautiful @Weed Seeds Express GSC ladies. They went under their first 12 hour of light last night at 9:00 PM. They will go dark today at 9:00 AM. The Demon LED from @Budget LED was raised to 22" to allow more light penetration and turned up to 100%. I need to calibrate my meter with the new settings to get a PPFD reading.

It is so hot outside (120°F high with a 90°F low) Even with the lights going on a night it still got to 83°F in the tent last night. The room remained at 73°F with the room AC running full time.

Rh was lowered to 50%.

The nutrients were also adjusted by adding the @Prescription Blend Big Data flower period additive to the normal solution @ 4ml per gallon. Cal-Mag remained the same at 4 ml per gallon. Terpinator was increased to 20 ml per gallon.

Today's Data

During the flower stage the nutrients from @Prescription Blend change a little by adding the Big Data component. The addition of Big Data changes the NPK ratio to favor the development of flower structures. By adding the Big Data I'm increasing the Potassium and available Phosphates.

Last Night: Solution input total 1650 ppm. (1155 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.3
#1 700 ml in, 160 ml out (23%) 1882 ppm output.
#2 700 ml in, 160 ml out (23%) 1785 ppm output.

Morning: Solution input total 1660 ppm. (11165 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.2
#1 1000 ml in, 220 ml out. (22%) 1980 ppm out
#2 1000 ml in, 180 ml out. (18%) 1840 ppm out

Today's Outside temperatures: High of 120° F (49° C) with Rh going to 5%.

Tent Climate: 81° F (27° C) with Rh at 55%

Tent Room Climate: 74° F (23°C) with Rh at 50%.

All kidding aside, they really are a couple of beautiful plants. (And not just compared to what I see in my garden.)

Looking forward to the flower phase!

Can you talk a bit about the the theory behind the dark phase? And do you employ it at the end of the grow right before harvest as well??

I was looking at an extended dark phase at the beginning to get the timing right but instead of increasing the dark phase prior to flipping I just left the lights on a little longer yesterday and extended the veg dark period out to 9:00 PM.

I do have an extended dark phase right before harvest from 36 to 48 hrs. There are many reasons out there as to why to do this. They range from more trichomes to better taste or just to save power. I can't confirm there is any advantage but I also can't confirm there is any harm in it.

Here is a list that may or may not be true.

1) Darkness increases resin production
2) Darkness increases terpene production
3) Terpene levels are at their highest at the end of the dark cycle right before lights on
4) Sugars/starches recede from the plant to the root zone while in dark cycle resulting in a better tasting/burning bud
5) Chlorophyll isn’t produced/active in the dark and existing chlorophyll begins to break down
