Hello Growers

Last night I added 500 ml of solution to each plant and 50% ended up as runoff. Tells me they have enough water on the dry end. I'm trying to switch the watering to early evening (when they wake up) and/or water twice a day because they were taking a lot with only one watering a day.

Each also received a little lollipopping. Just enough to remove the unneeded lower leaves and branches.

I have added 500 ml of solution each this morning with no runoff yet. I usually give it at least an hour.

I wonder if I can do a quadline with autos. I might give it a whirl next grow or switch to photos. I've got time to think about it

sooo good lookin brett ..

depends on the autos. if you train you have to get in there quick and early. some will trigger on anything.
i've had rotten luck with anything but topping and mild lst . haven't run autos for more than 5 yrs though. giving it another try soon.

Yep I figured gotta get a little lucky. I topped gorilla glue autos from separate sources. I got the same result. Almost immediately went to flower and an exponential stretch not a good result. I topped a cream auto no problems. Which made me think indica dominate auto might handle topping better IDK just a thought

thinking of going UBT - the top and defol can toss them, but you're only looking for four spears anyway. one shot and walk away.

There are a few threads here that have info with successful auto quadlines. Before this grow comparison I was planning on an auto quadline so I may do one with my next grow.

Hello Growers

Both are continuing to grow very well. It's getting difficult to shoot the top angle shots even with a 14mm lens without raising the lights.

I added 800 ml of solution to each this morning. There was no watering last night so I may be adding more this morning.

I never noticed those blue plugs before. What are they for?

They hold the air-pot together. The sides roll around the base and the plugs screw in to secure it.

The reason you never noticed them is because they used to be in the back.

Brett Blaze, First, plants look great, nice work. I’ve been thinking about weeks in veg and seedling opinions here. This is my 6th grow and adapting my organic soil grow style. I’ve counted “veg” weeks from sprout and now realize there is a germination/seedling stage period before any real veg action. I like your days above ground…same as my weekly update days from sprout. I will consider veg weeks to start 2 weeks after sprout for photos going forward. Not a complaint over here but my intense light is thwarting stretch for more LST, not sure raising will help. Cheers

As a suggestion. Since plants will grow at different rates depending on the medium, lighting, genetics etc. I use the 3rd node rule. When I have an established 3rd node I start the Veg stage. This can be anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks from sprout. These just so happened to take the full two weeks due to some slow initial growth.

i think you'll find that rule holds for all sorts of crop and flowering plants. it's not just cannabis specific.

Hello Fellow Growers

I did a little bit of trimming last night (as every night) to remove light blocking leaves and small low branches that won't produce.

I also created a new batch of solution. Last time I made a 6 gallon batch which was fine for a week but even with a pump and air stone the solution gradually increased ppm. It moved from 1510 to 1590 over a period of 10 days. In the future I would not store more than one weeks worth of solution at a time. After a week it started creeping up. The increase in ppm means something is changing. It could be an algae or bacteria causing the increase. Both are probably not seriously dangerous to the plant but the high ppm could cause problems and lockout restricting essential nutrients from reaching the plant. The last part of the solution was also much darker. I discarded over a gallon of solution that I was not comfortable with.

Note: When adding Cal-Mag and Terpinator both will increase total ppm so amounts should be limited to a total ppm for the stage of the plant instead of using the max amount on the instructions. I always start with lowest recommended amounts and then only increase gradually if it looks like it's needed.

The new one gallon batch of solution I created last night included the following amounts of @Prescription Blend nutrients.

Bio-Si - 5ml, Core A and B 12 ml (20% increase), Kelp-ful - 5ml, Precursor 1 - 5 ml.
Cal-Mag 4 ml (increase 1 ml) Terpinator 7 ml

Totals: 1524 ppm Ph 6.3 - Tap water 147 ppm, Nutrients 1049 ppm, Cal-Mag and Terpinator 328 ppm.

Today's Data: Nutrient Solution input 1524 ppm. (1049 ppm nutrients) Ph 6.3

Each plant was rotated 45°. Going forward I will be rotating 45° each day.

#1 800 ml in, 100 ml out (13%) 1724 ppm
#2 800 ml in, 120 ml out (15%) 1805 ppm (Higher than the 200 ppm max increase I am looking for. It may be due to rotating.)

The Demon LED by @Budget LED is set at 18" above the plants running at 56% power giving me 470 PPFD and 26K Lux.

Today's temperatures: High of 106° F (39° C) with Rh going to 5%. We are expecting temps as high as 120°F (49°C) next week.

Tent Climate: 77° F (25° C) with Rh at 58%

Tent Room Climate: 74° F (23°C) with Rh at 53%0.

Yep pretty soon any day under 110° will be a nice day

lol i'd push that number :cheesygrinsmiley:

but not with those ambient temps ... :(

i dunno how you extreme hot weather guys do it.

Keeping it closer and lowering the output helps me keep the temps low. I'll probably be flipping in less than a week so the numbers will be going up. I have had the PPFD at 460 throughout Veg and have had great results.

Tonight I will be raising the light and increasing the output to help reach some of the lower branches so they can catch up before I flip. I will still maintain 460 PPFD then max it out when I flip. Since this will greatly increase the temps (when it's going to be 120° outside) my light on period will be at night. 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM. The room is very dark during the day.

Happy Saturday Growers

Very Interesting changes happening and I may know why they occurred. This morning the ladies did not look as perky as normal. When rotating the pots they also filled light. Yesterday they took 800 ml each with good runoff. This morning it took 1240 ml to get sufficient runoff. 50% more water.

So why did this occur? One reason may be because I lowered the Rh from 70% to 60% another because I am getting some good growth on the secondary branches. I previously discussed increasing to two waterings a day well that time has come and maybe a day or two late.

In additional, I have what may be beginning signs of nute burn. The tips of the leaves are yellow with a little brown on a few. I am pushing the ppm totals so nothing to get too concerned yet but I need to keep an eye on it.

I made another new one gallon batch of nutrient solution today. One gallon batches aren't lasting long enough so I have some 2.5 gallon containers coming.

The mix is the same as the last one but my ppm on the nutrient portion increased to 1116 from 1031 yesterday. The only thing different is I mixed up the Kelp-ful (thick stuff) which has a high ppm count. The total for the solution still stayed around the same of 1518 ppm. Somethings not adding up.

Both have grown to 8" in height.

Totals: 1518 ppm Ph 6.3 - Tap water 145 ppm, Nutrients 1116 ppm, Cal-Mag and Terpinator 257 ppm.
