4 Strawberry Kush F5's - How Red Can We Get 'Em?

Can't you derive the ec by just taking your ppms and deviding by 500? And if this number isn't equal to the ec your meter it's off? Or obviously not a 500 scale....

I believe, but certainly could be wrong, PPM (Parts Per Million)= EC x 700; and TDS (Total Desolved Solids) = EC x 500. So, yo can alway get to whatever you want to read. That’s only if it’s calibrated correctly as Rider said.

I better go check my cheap ass Chinese pos meter.... ahh the perks of being too broke to afford the grandpa and rider fancy gadgets . Thanks for clarifying

Always thought ppm was the measure of total dissolved solids

Always thought ppm was the measure of total dissolved solids

It is and it isn't. It's a measurement of the electrical conductivity of a solution converted to an arbitrary number. Whether it's the 500, 650, or 700 scale it's all relative to the EC. What it doesn't, and can't tell you is what the ratios of the nutrients are relative to each other. You could use pure NaCl in your solution and hit the EC/ppm you're aiming for but the plants might not dig it much.

The PPM, or total dissolved solids, is an extrapolation based on observation of known quantities, i.e., one mole of potassium chloride in a known quantity of pure water returns an EC value which correlates to the known quantity of KCl. I'm not explaining this well, am I.

Did a res change this morning and changed the nutrient recipe to late flower. Loaded it up heavy with Potassium. Overall the new recipe has dropped the EC to 1080 from 1440 and the initial PH is 5.4. I'll leave the PH to see if its going to swing and adjust it later this evening. About 2 weeks of this and then into the flush. A few of the pistils are starting to turn but no sign of any red yet in the colas.

Looking Good SD.

The meters are good as long as they are accurate. They are a reference only. They don't all have to match. If you know that a certain number on yours burns your plants you know where not to go. If you use a calibration solution to determine what value on your gauge is the value of the calibration solution it could register in micro grams to the gallon as long as you have a reference. Hope this makes sense.

It's good to know if someone is trying to give you there recipe for a certain strain and there over in Europe and says I give them 700 ppm and you're trying to do that over across the pond you might have problems with EC you don't have that

Its kinda like the strong man contest when they talk about "Stones". They still convert it to something others can relate to and measure. Its just nice not having to do the math. That is where accidents or oops happen.

Day 53 from flip or day 45 from first pistils. (I count flowering days starting from first pistils.)

About 25% of the pistils have turned amber but no sign of any red yet, if this particular Strawberry Kush pheno will even display any red. I've been dropping the temperature in the tent to 60⁰F during the 12 hours lights off period.

I plan to start to flush in 9 days, I'm basing that on an advertised 63 day flower period. Hoping for a decent last big push on the colas in that time. I plan to flush for at least 10 days maybe more depending on how the trichomes amber up.

Everything is running smoothly and looking very healthy. Still seem to be getting more frost on the buds and its spilling out onto many of the fan leaves. Should make for some really good trim for bubble hash.

I'm just flushing now, been freaked out a little bit cos i was letting dark temps drop to 18 and i noticed in a couple places some suddenly dead leaves and when i investigated found mold in the middle of the bud

I removed the wrongness and tried to let air & light into the affected areas to dry em out

Raised dark temps to 20C (thermostat on mini oil heater in tent)

Have found a few more little bits that I've immediately removed

I was thinking about you ScrawgD! And your low temperature escapades

Hoping very much u ain't had similar issues

I notice you got one packed canopy going on there!

What was your RH at when you were having the issues Dogwash? Mine runs at about 38% during lights on and drops just below 30% at night. I'll have to keep an eye out for that.
