2nd Time Growing Hope This Is Better NL

I’m hoping so the breeder says flowering time is 45-50 days and I’m on day 28 but to me I think It will be more than 50 days

Maybe some input on my lighting would be needed too I’m running 2 Mars hydro ts1000s in a 3x5 at full intensity. Does any one see any benefits from adding back in my old Blurple light to the mix just to give it more light or should I just stick with the Mars

Update from tonight she’s looking good no new yellowing of the leaves

It looks like I’m starting to get hints of purple in my sugar leaves and buds is that normal of northern lights?

If you let your night time temps drift a few degrees lower you will get some nice colors on your buds. Quite normal on Northern lights. Looks great keep up the good work.

I always veg a bit longer and go way over breeder flowering time, because you never know what conditions that time was based from. I tend to go longer in Veg before flipping the switch, because once you flip the switch the readiness is always dependent on the individual plant. So pay attention to the ladies as only they will tell you when they are ready. I throw those times out the window and let the girls guide me . :p

I used to feel exactly this way until I made one logical change in my operations, and then suddenly all of the breeder flowering time recommendations started making sense, and my plants all began to complete within a 5 day window of that predicted time.

The one change I made was to not consider bloom to start on the day of the flip. Instead, I call that week to 10 days before the pistils actually start bursting from the growth tips, the Transition period... and I don't begin the bloom countdown until flowering actually starts, a week or more after the day of the flip.

Flipping the lights to 12/12 is simply a signal for the plant to go into its bloom mode. Bloom does not actually start until the plant "converts" over from the veg mode to the flowering mode.

Most seed companies tell little white lies when it comes to harvest windows. They want to sell seeds so a 10 week flower time is not appealing to most breeders. So they fudge times slightly starting their count when they are definitely showing they are flowering. So when you turn your lights out for the first time and start your count down you will be way ahead of the breeder.
Use their timing as a ruff guide
and always let your buds tell you when they say they are ready.

Yea my day time temp I’m running right around 78-80 degrees and at night I’m dropping down to 64. With my humidity staying right around 42 in light and dark time.

Was wondering if anyone had input about adding back into my lighting the Blurple light I have that I replaced with my two Mars hydros it’s one of those Blurple lights with a veg and bloom switch does anyone think it would be beneficial to add it into my tent or just stick with the Mars only

You were right on the money with the 10 days I flipped to 12/12 on December 1st and had first signs of pistils on the 10th. So technically I am just finishing out week 3 of flower today

Tonight’s picture updates. She’s still perky as can be and not ready to drink which is in return stressing me out as I don’t understand why one week she is thirsty then the next week not so much and I can’t see it being an issue as she is always perky and not showing signs of anything

Crazy how in less than 12 hours she became thirsty maybe my New Years wish will come true. Lights go out in 45 minutes I’ll water her when lights come back on at 10 pm

From 10 pm to 9 am this watering she will be receiving the sledgehammer and boomerang additives. I’m not going to go crazy with a flush as I really don’t believe there is much build up but the directions for fox farm say every 3-4 weeks use sledge hammer

I’ll pay attention to that Emilya, thanks very much. I’d heard that’s what some do, now I understand why and the correlation with the breeder timeline. It’s not a big deal for me being a small personal grower but would certainly be for commercial interests. Saying that I’m not up for running a 12 week variety either, lol!

more light never hurt. that said it doesn't look like you are lacking any light from your pics.

Thanks for checking it out My tent dimensions are 60”LX32”wX80”H and I’m running 2 Mars hydro ts1000s at full strength. I was just thinking about adding the old light back in with just the bloom spectrum on.

If you do put it back in put both veg and bloom on. Some spectrums are beneficial for both stages of growth. Especially if you have white in your veg light.

in flower i always go bigger than the space demands and dial it back with onboard dimmers. my flower rig is a 600w true draw in approximately 4 x 4. it's overkill. with the dimmers i'm probably running closer to a 450w draw.

i'm on cob so it makes a difference. the whole spectrum comes across in cob when dimmed, just less intense. diode based rigs will lose some spectrum with dimming, it's a little known issue. but can have big implications. as a result i would not run most strip and quantum fixtures at less than 50% dimming. cob can be run down to 25% before significant spectrum loss.

most growers shoot for 30 - 50w per sq/ft. as led tech gets more efficient, that number trends lower. the diodes are simply getting better.

in short, go big and dial back to a sweet spot if you can.
