Sunday Update
Got to spend quite a bit of time with the girls this evening and it was very enjoyable. I hit them all with some brix foliar spray. And got into some training and defoliation on all of them. I removed all the shoots coming off the bottom of each branch. That opened things up quite a bit. I got to remove some of the restraints and garden stakes that were closer to the base of each plant because they have been trained out far enough that these were no longer serving a purpose. This will make watering a bit easier from now on. As the stems harden sometimes the branch becomes difficult to train. If I pull down on the ends it makes the whole branch want to move down further and this isn’t optimal. Gravity is a thing and we don’t want to confuse the plant. So in these instances I will put a garden stake under the branch for it to rest on as I train the distal part of the branch.
This lets me keep everything nice and straight.
Sometimes I have to put a wire tie in a spot where it is likely to slide down the branch as they turn toward the light over the next couple days. I also use a garden stake to keep them from sliding back down like this
You could also just wrap a pipe cleaner or something around the stem to act as a stop.
The PuTang got a Growth Drench tonight. She’s hard to keep happy for me. I tent to have droopy plants and she falls right in line. It’s not a drainage issue. Maybe she wants a bigger pot. But the day after a feeding she will perk up and the day after that she starts to droop again. She has the most main branches of any of these plants but the lowest 2 aren’t really doing much. I may take them as clones to practice trying to get some to root. I haven’t been able to successfully take a clone yet so hopefully this will change. Lol. Granted, I’ve only ever tried to take a clone from a fully flowering plant. Here she is.
The Gorilla Bop is moving right along. I removed some yellow dying leaves but besides that maybe just a couple that were blocking light. Some of her side branches are going pretty slowly.
The Bubba Kush is my only quadline plant this grow so she’s got a special place in my heart. Had to remove some of her big fans because they were growing so big that they were blocking everything. She’s got the most unique smell when I do a stem rub. Can’t place it but it’s different for sure. The Gorilla Bop and the PuTang are very similar in smell right now. Not sure if it’s the tangie in both or not because it’s not quite a citrus smell. Here is Bubba.
Last but not least is the Indiana Bubblegum. I can’t believe it but I think she is my favorite right now. Almost scrapped and now she has the most vigor of all the plants. I love the spacing between nodes and on several of her branches there aren’t any shoots coming off the bottom of the branches. Or the ones that do are already up to the canopy and doing good. So despite a rough start this girl has earned her way to the top in my book. This strain is listed as extremely high yielding by the breeder. If her growth continues like this I can see why....and it might earn her the 15 gallon pot. Here she is.
