Fantastic cloning info HOZ! I am actually a clone virgin after years of growing here and back in Colorado as seeds were always available and I couldn't run successive gardens most of the time. Now I can and your setup looks mighty perfect. Sweet.

I like pomegranate anything!
Bob ;)

Thanks for the Kudos Bob! I use a bucket cloner because I don't do many at a time (keeping it small but perpetual) You can also make one from a tote that looks and performs just like a high dollar one. If you make one of those, you can use a 1 3/4" hole saw and use 2" inserts and they will stay in place. I use a 2" saw and 2" nets with 1/4" lip with the bottoms cut away so it doesn't get clogged with roots. The 1/4" lip makes it easy to pick up out of the cloner to inspect individual clones without removing the lid. Of course you realize the plus side of cloning, find a good stain Mother Ship, keep her in veg, take clones, grow them to their potential and repeat the cycle. Had it not been for unavoidable hiatus, I would still be growing my old stand-by (MMMF), but alas, she is gone after keeping her going for six generations. The other nice thing about clones, they can go into hydro or soil with no problems in either. I try to show doing it both ways so that anybody hesitant to try sees how easy it is. I hate germinating seeds, kinda like watching watching paint dry, only slower!
Thanks for stopping in :cheesygrinsmiley:

:oops:I got the idea you was asking for product ideas for Store:hookah:
Excuse I am medicating a bit to much recently :circle-of-love:I hope all is very well in your neck of the woods:circle-of-love:

Great post about the cloner. I've never cloned anything for pretty much the same reasons as Bob. I hope to change that soon, and will then be attempting to DIY as you prescribe.

Thanks!

Cloner? Bah. Toys for the whipper snappers.:rofl:

You have a nice set up there Hoz.

Cloning is just a matter of finding what works for you. Some have issues for some reason. I can't believe that it comes down to having a 'green thumb' or not. It has to be something in their method, maybe loving them to death. I've had unexpected success just sticking the top in the dirt next to the plant it came off of. In the summer, outside with no protection.

Hee hee I guess even at 45 I can be a whippersnapper lol. Though if this one broke for some reason I would DIY a fix or build a new one. When you see how simple they are inside you know that a little PVC and a water pump and Rubbermaid tub are all you need, with net pots or pool noodles. The emitters are super cheap by the 100 if you buy them from China. I got a bunch of originals for replacements at a cheap cost as well. Gotta support the companies in the US when possible.

But my first cloning experience was like yours. Outdoor in the dirt next to my outdoor plant. They grew roots and flowered in place. Best outdoor ever.

Hi Shigg, I used to grow hydro exclusively, RDWC and some coco. I DIY'd all my grow equipment, including an aerocloner at one point. I'm not knocking it. It works very well and makes the clone very versatile in what media it can go in. I may actually make one again because I have some other local guys wanting clones, some in root riots, some in rockwool, some in coco. What a PIMA, let me tell you.

Over in my journal we were discussing age, I'm turning 40 late this year. I was just poking at the 66 yr old man. :hippy:

Hee hee we are both whippersnappers then lol. If I had people who were getting clones from me they would get them in whatever was easiest for me lol. So coco or soilless mix. And they would have to provide the coco because I don't have any lol. Usually my fiends get the plants I cull and I cull quite a bit. You are a saint to provide all those types of media!

The emitters are super cheap

Hey Peeps! Just so I am understanding, Emitters ? Are they the things the water pump pumps water to and out o'?

I never have the room. Any clone success I have ever had had to get culled. Still a DIY micro sized single cloner appeals to me ; -)

It could work, i dunno? I can barley manage 2 plants at a time today, 2 plants and a clone might just be pandemonium.

Yeah.... emitter, sprayer, mister, fogger.....

They come in lots of patterns, flow rates, some spin.

Drip Irrigation - Micro Sprinklers and Micro Sprays Jets - The Drip store for Garden & landscapes

I've bought stuff from here a few times (drip for large veggie gardens). Look at all the watering possibilities...hope you have an imagination, LOL.

I'm considering adding drip around my outdoor plants this year, under the mulch.

:high-five:

I am building one of these babies this summer :thumb: You have me convinced!

What was the MMMF gal? Was a breed of your very own?
Bob ;)

WOW! First I have to say THANK YOU ALL for coming to have a discussion and share here! :yahoo: I will try to address as many, if not all, I can :cheesygrinsmiley:

Jaga my old friend, no need to apologize to me, I was just confused I guess :scratchinghead: Yeah, Zazzle will take your design and make hats, shirts, clocks, etc.

Thanks for the comments and reps! Being on a fixed budget DIY is the way for me to go.:cheesygrinsmiley:I started cloning because I was out of seeds for my favorite (at that time) and kept it going for 6 generations :yahoo:

Heirloom, I KNOW you ARE a seed guy! I just took a lower branch from my P-ROC in Aero and rather than doing the Clonex, I just scraped the stem and put it in one of my empty spots. We'll see how it does. Since that plant was from seed I am not sure of its sex. If it roots I will put it in the lower cabinet at 12/12 and see what sex it is. I have heard of others doing it and thought I'd give it a try :cheesygrinsmiley:

Enjoy being called young man, whipper snapper, or what ever "young" term people use. They will all go away some day  DIY is easy IF you are not afraid to try things and have some basic tools. Having worked on and built hotrods since I was a teenager, I have those. :cheesygrinsmiley: Never tried to clone directly into dirt, but have in rock wool and Rapid Rooter plugs besides what I am doing now. Did some transplanting into Solo cups last night.:cheesygrinsmiley:I guess there is always something new to experiment with! :slide:

Emitters aka aero-jets. My bucket cloner works fine, but as you can see, lots of cloning options! Pandemonium? ROTFLMAO I have 7 outdoors, 9 teens, 3 in my cloner(winding down cloning for a while), 4 in Aero/DWC, and my 1 OG Kush auto/fem. 24 plants in different stages. :cheesygrinsmiley:

HL, great info! All my outdoor plants are on a drip with timer, every other day, 5 minutes in the morning, 5 in the evening. You are right about all the choices. So many to chose/try, so little time

WELCOME PINKY! Glad you made it here :welcome: :circle-of-love:

MMMF (Mingus Mountain Mother Fucker) was a cross of these two plants Sativa and Indica cross.

Here it is in bloom

I'll do it one time for them. I'm not a clone salesman. These kids (I say kids, late 20's) went and bought all new flood and drain systems, LEDs and new PH/TDS/EC meters.
But they got no plants or seeds...or a plan.:biglaugh:
Heirloom to the rescue...this time.
HL you are a saint! I had been just like them before :reading420magazine::nomo:
Thanks again for everyone stopping by! I value any and ALL INPUT!:cheesygrinsmiley:
