1st Hydro Grow

Thanks for letting us know, SouthernWeed. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your father.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and well-wishes y'all. Dad had surgery late yesterday afternoon, and according to a surgeon who looked about as old as Doogie Howser, all went well and he should, with a bit of diet modification and medication, make a full recovery and be able to avoid dialysis...did I spell that right...oh well. Anyhow, I'm tired as hell and really need to get some sleep, but that's pretty much out of the question with 8 guys clomping around on your roof. Thanks again, one and all, and I'll try to resume a normal posting schedule tomorrow...if I can get some sleep...pretty sure I need it...a penguin just walked in and asked me to dance...lol!

Penguins are untrustworthy... be sure you lead.
Happy to hear your father is better. My father experienced a health scare once. My sisters and I took to opportunity to do some historical brain picking and documented many of his ideas and history. It's been a very interesting document to look at many years after his (unrelated) passing.
Lemons can almost always be made into lemonade.

Cheers!

Howdy all...

Thought I'd take a quick second and post a few pics...Sorry about the Martian sun effect on a couple. As you will be able to see, I've had to tie the plants off, and I can't really remove them to take pictures as I had been. Due to explosive growth in the last few days I was beginning to have some light penetration problems, so I tied them off with butchers string to get some light down to the lower budsites.

Tortured...the stretch now measures, on average, 7 full inches...plants are approaching 2', which is the upper end of the breeders height claim.

I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow, when I change the res.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement Fineas...the last three days have been tough for sure, but things are looking up. I know what you mean about plant growth...came into see them this morning with rested eyes and almost didn't recognize them...I believe this is day 35...which would be halfway. I can't wait to see these budsites swell up and mature. Hopefully the extra light penetration will help with that.

Day 35

Did a day count and guess I was wrong yesterday...today is the halfway point.

The plants have really started to fill in the budsites after two days of being tied off and letting the light in a little better. Got a question for all you hydro experts out there. Over the last couple days, I have stumbled onto a water level/nute mix that is allowing the ph to move from 5.9 to around 5.3 over the course of 24 hours. This seems to be an optimal ph profile for nute uptake, so my question is this. How long am I safe not changing the res. I add, on average, 1/4 gallon of pure r/o water daily, and to that I'm adding the recomended amount of nutes. My ppm holds realitively steady, moving less than 120ppm over the course of the day. I interpet that to mean that the plants are using a little more water than nutes...am I right on that? And if I am, should I change the res out to fresh water/nutes to balance out the uptake. Things are looking so good I'd hate to screw it up now.

Anyhow, here's some pics of my babies...

That's about all for today...hit me up with ideas for the res thing..

Green days and fat buds to all...

SouthernWeed everything is going well on you grow. The nutes in the tank should be changed every two weeks. If you get a very wide swing in ppm then that is also a sign to change nutes. You current nute profile is perfect.:ganjamon:

What a great job your doing soon it will second nature.;)
:goodjob:

+rep if I can

How's the Temperature? Still getting up to the high 80's - low 90's?

No, that problem was solved with additional ventilation and a small portable ac unit purchased for $25 second hand at a flea market, if you can believe that. Temps never exceed 80 degrees and are never below 74 during the 20 hour light cycle. During the 4 hour dark cycle, I allow the temp to drop to 68. I keep a frozen bottle of water in my res to hold the water/nute mix btween 68-72.

Well just got back from lowes...bought 2 150w equivalent cfls and a couple domes to hit the lower parts of the plants with some direct light...I am so damn happy at how these are working out, I just wanted to hit those lower budsites with a few more lumens...40 bucks well spent.

Hey thanks for the kind words l8...wish now I had lst'd these girls, but no need to get to tricky with your first grow...but them Super Lemon Haze and Utopia Haze seeds that arrived today are going to get the full treatment.

See y'all in the morning.
