1st Grow, RainForest 318, 400W HID, Chronic Haze, Yumbolt47, California Dream

How long are your strains supposed to go?

According to the seed website, the California Dreams go 8 weeks.

As for the other two, I'm now unsure of whether they're Yumboldt47 or Chronic Haze. I thought they were Chronic Haze, but they look like Yumboldt47s should.

Chronic Haze flower time is "within 10 weeks".
Yumboldt47 flower time is "8 weeks".

Dec 27 - Added 2 gal adjusted tap water. Re-installed the airstone. pH and temps good.

Dec 28 - Ditto from the 27th.

Dec 29 - pH good, ppm 853. Temp and RH good all day. Added more adjusted tap water. Got some resin from one of the Chronic Hazes/YB47s on my hand, and it smelled like minty pine. So then I had to try some of the Cali Dream and it smells a little like diesel. Completely different smells.

Just a sparkly pic of one of the Chronic Haze (or YB47 - not sure now):

Dec 30 - Day 53 of 12/12 - All look about the same as yesterday. Temps, RH, and pH all good.
Upped flow rate on CO2 after recalculating. Went from .25 to .40 cfh.
Clipped a small bud from bottom level of one of the CDs, will dry it and smoke it later. Need to do some more pruning down at the bottom, I think.

Sweet thanks for stoping by and taking a look at my grow.
I am using tap water with a pur filter but that does not seem to change the ppms though, the water stands at 200ppm. I have been thinking about an RO sytem, is that what you are using? I am 11 days into 12/12 and my ppms are 1150 with the 200 subtracted from it. Yea FloraKleen will work great as a final flush.

I just picked up a 6 stage RO filter for $132 off ebay with free shipping. Haven't got it yet but looks pretty decent. The vendor was Filter Direct.

Just checked that system. Looks really good for a good price. I'd be interested in a first-hand review once you get it running.

For anyone else, go to eBay and search "filterdirect reverse osmosis".

And I've been high for about the last 36 hrs... Early reports are good on the Cali Dreams. I tried one of the others, but they're really immature. Got pleasantly high, but not like with the CDs. Both smoked smooth, considering they were quick-dried, and no noticeable special taste with either. They have distinctive smells, but not taste.

All trichs in the tent are still clear as far as I've been able to see.

I should get it next week. Will let you know once i have it up and running.

Heh... checked my journal and the last entry was last Wednesday: "Clipped a small bud from very bottom of the big Cali Dream."

Been clipping and toking ever since...

Thought I'd missed a couple of days, turned out to be a week.

Thu, Dec 31 to Tue, Jan 5 - Plants are static, need a flush. Temps, RH, and ppm all good. The CD is a nice body/mind high already.

Wed Jan 6 - 2100: Drained and flushed res with Flora Kleen (60ml)
0030: Refilled with mixed RO and tap. Added 30ml Cal-Mag.
0150: Added 40ml Flora Nectar.
No CO2, no airstone.

Why did you remove the CO2 and airstone? Were you able to tase the chemicals as you have been toking?

I just laid off the CO2 for the first light cycle after flushing the res. It's back on now (or will be when the lights go on). I took out the airstone just in case. I've heard that too much bubbling can over-oxygenate the water, plus the RainForest supposedly aerates the water well enough just by the constant spray/mist falling back into the res. Still not sure about using the stone next grow.

Not tasting anything at this point. It's just smoke. None of the plants have given off much odor at all, either. I'm not using any kind of odor prevention/removal yet. They smell distinctive, but you have to rub it off on your hand or get your nose right down next to the plant to notice it.

I never seen anything about over oxygenating the reservoir before. I don't think its possible. Water can only hold so much O2 depending on temps. If I am not mistaken it is ideal to keep it as high as possible. Spraying/misting like that should be sufficient but I don't think it hurts to have an air-stone there to help.

My plants aren't giving off a lot of odor either. I have to be right next to the tent to smell them during the day. At night when the air is vented into the room you cant smell anything at all. I have a nice air purifier in my room that removes odor wonderfully.

Yo, the rainforest pump alone is really not enough to keep the rez aerated.
i have heard that from others growers and also from my shop guy. I think you will be better off to keep at least one airstone in you rez at all times. You just have to make sure that the air bubbles from the stone dont disrupt the pump cause it can lead to a burned out pump.

Thanks for the input. I'll stick it back in and see what happens.

Your grow is looking good, I will post some pics of mine shortly. It is getting out of hand in my room, I am running out of space. I think I have another few inches of room left to raise the light, but hopefully they are done streching or else it will be some serious tie down. Can we get a shot of your garden from a distance, just curious on how tall your plants are now and also the different hights in strains. Looking great, some tasty bud shots. Well done Bolivar

I'll get a distance shot tonight when the lights come on. And a couple of close-ups, although nothing seems to have been happening since the last pics.

How high is your ceiling? I've got the light in the tent all the way up and it's still not high enough for the one Cali Dream. As a matter of fact, it's showing some stress from the light I think.

Looking forward to seeing another RainForest grow, let me know if/when you put up some pics.
