1st Grow - Ebb-N-Grow : Afghan Kush, White Widow, Bag Seed!

Also, I'll explain a little more about the trim on some of these pics (tomorrow).

The way you trimmed the AK's is what i would call a rough trim, thats usually what i would do on the first pass, saving all trich laden leaves for butter.

then I would trim from the AK's point to how you did the "close up trim job" saving all that sugar leaf to dry for butter.

It seems like a shame when your trimming because a lot of it is smokeable, but you still are using it, so it's cool, it's not going to waste. . . at least thats how I look at it.

Some of those AK leaves look mighty green to be smoking to me, might end up pulling some of that out when you break it up, no biggie, but I'd rather use it than lose it.

can't wait to see it all put together in the end.

you should definitely save all that trim, plus you can trim a bit closer than usual and get beautiful manicured buds w/o losing any of your hard work. The butter is just my personal preference of what to do with it becasue 1) i like the effect the most, and 2)its the easiest extraction method (IMO).

Stinky is probably rolling in trim already, even w/o a close manicure. gold brother, green gold.

Wheel. Can't thank you enough. You just saved me a ton of verbiage on what I was thinking and going to explain. But you said it much better!!!

beautiful nugs Stink, Perfect

Dude, can't thank you enough for the mentoring! Really helped pay off!

5lbs from 12 plants not bad @ all.Very nice pics. Also OMM here is the dry tent from htg i finally found it lol High Tech Garden Supply

Thanks M!! I'm pretty stoked!

As for the Rack. OMM and everyone else interested. It does look like HTG carries this, don't know if it's the same model. Picture looks a little different. I know the one that I have, and Wheel has is either manufactured, or distributed by CAP. I saw the price at HTG, and I think I paid $29.99, plus shipping from Discount Hydroponics. I'm all for great pricing, but I really hate the feeling of being taken advantage of with the high price some places charge for shipping and "handling". OMM, since you are on the "west coast" you might want to check with Discount Hydro, since they are in California and might be less expensive to ship to you, then HTG located on the East Coast.

It's a great product so far, and drying seems to be consistent and even.

Do it!

SF,

I have missed so much in the last week!! Holy cow! The pics of the buds look amazing. And your yield is very good! Also, don't forget about the brownie recipe! Those sound really tasty! Way to go brother! :goodjob:

Brownies. Ahhh, there goes my diet! Would you like a side of heart-burn to go with that? :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks NG1. All eyes are about to turn to you fairly soon man! Can't wait for you bro!

Hey Stink what do think about the STG? I know you got off to a rocky start with them, as I read it after you put the hooks in and raised the inner bucket up, it worked... Not to lug hydroton seems real dam appealing! And my hydro guy has the ebb and grow bucket size in stock all the time... Thanks man :goodjob:

Thanks Mule. Well, I really like the STG product. For a closer look, Wheel is running the inserts on his current grow. He took some steps early with hydroton to keep his inserts looking and performing pristine. I can't honestly say anything bad about the product. Clean-up with extremely easy. Pull insert and place in garbage bag. Done! Ready to go again. I guess I wish they were a little "cheaper" priced, but it's a small trade for labor saved.

I was thinking about the STG mat for your flood table, as you mentioned a coca mat, and hydroton. I just didn't want to stick my nose in when you had so many things going on.

Thanks for the compliment bro!!!

WaaaaHoooo! Looks awfully tasty there SF. Congratulations.

You still Rock! :theband:

G. You still rock harder. Here you go man - :bong:

Graduation pics! Good times ahead for someone... :>)

Wish I could have you guys over man! One day....one day.

Very nice indeed!! Those look great, congrats S.F.!!
:cool::rasta:;):grinjoint:

Thanks S. Now I'll have time to get back to your grow man!

Thanks Stink I will be using it in the table later on, and the ebb-n-grow for sure this cycle... I get a pretty deep discount and I have 2 50# bags of hydroton to trade back in for it. And a little extra dough to save my poor back some pain is worth it! Nice haul man! :cheertwo: I'm going to check out the Wheel thanks man! :peacetwo:

Wheel did us both a great favor. Thanks, Wheel!:rasta:

Hey Guys.

So I'm working backwards on some of the questions/comments! No, your not stoned....

That drying tube is freakin' AWESOME! :bravo:
I'm a big cheater when it comes to my pics. I use windows media player to pull them off my camera by click n drag to my desktop and then I crop the hell out of them until they fit. I really need to start doing it right.;)

OB. Love the tube. Just twist it up, let it spin and everything gets air nice and evenly. Thanks for the tip on the pics, might give that a try.

Breaker...Breaker... :cheesygrinsmiley:

Alright SF, nice harvest!

As to the bud leaves, I'm totally into kief now. I take a handful of leaves, screen the trichs and I'm good for a week. I just place it on top of a little bud in my bowl and take a hit, it's great! And it's a fun little ceremony.

I keep reading you're the Kief man! I'd like to perhaps give that one a try. I think you posted a link earlier, correct? I'm going to have to look back and see. If not perhaps I can PM you for some instructions?

Thanks FPF. Hope you're doing "better" man!

What a nice journal with some awesome results. Where did you get your seeds from SF? If you did buy seeds that is; if you dont mind me asking.

Thanks M! I'm doing my best on the journal. Since I'm new at this also, just want to put out as much info as possible and let you guys decide what is "noise" and what is useful.

As for the seeds. The Afghan Kush came from our sponsor, Attitude Seeds, purchased the Fem version and NOT the medical strain they offer, but the regular AK. World of Seeds Landraces Afghan Kush. As for the White Widow, I purchased these from some site with the name Amsterdam and seed bank in it. I didn't know any better, purchased regular seeds and of the 5 we had growing, 4 turned out to be male so we eliminated those from the grow. No name on the strain. I definitely wouldn't purchase from them again, just going to stick with the trusted sponsors. Can honestly say haven't had a negative experience with Attitude at all.

Thanks for stopping by man!

Hey Slo.

5lbs - wet weight. 4 Plants, just the Afghan Kush.

Thanks Bro. You're up next! :cheesygrinsmiley:

SF

Ahhh, I see. Still very impressive.
On another note, I am going to be running a few Afghan Kush's outside this season. My buddy has about 150 babies grown from seed in his backyard, and he is offering them up to me! yah! I hope mine resemble your beauties!
Great work, and I am waiting for the smoke report!.

The Kush are great, and smell like "sh*t". Tons of lateral branches, with a couple of decent main colas. If you have room to work to tie them all up, you'll be good to go.

I would expect your buddy growing them outside will see some monsters. Wish you could grab some pics, :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks Slo. Smoke Repo after the dry.

Awesome grow journal SF, can't wait to see the final count.

Thanks KM! Shouldn't be too much longer.

5/6/10 - LowRyder Update

So pics tomorrow. We're up on 7 weeks today. About 3 left to go according to the breeders pack.

You'll be pleased to know that these bitc#es can take a punch. Think I mentioned that I delayed a res change probably too long. So decided to do one last night, the run-off from what was drained from the reservoir measured 3586 PPM. Not the way I really want to roll, but I'm noticing minimal damage to the leaves. A little nute burn on a couple of the fan leaves, but when you see the pictures, I think you'll agree they can take a little abuse of a stoner grower. :bong: I'll try not to let it happen again.

That's bout it guys. Have a great night.

 Figured you would be getting wasted. You have like what 3-4 different strains right? And thanks for the info, I figured when I do try to get some seeds I will only get the Fem ones as I dont want to waste time and money. Even though If i screw up the grow or if it goes bad i will but whatever. Also how many plants did you have total? I just read you put four and got 4lbs of dry buds? Thought it was 12, well assuming your setup was the same as what you had on the first page. Regardless AWESOME results, time for me to try and decide what seeds I want to go with.

Hey M.

When's not a good time to "have a party?" :cheesygrinsmiley:

Anway, just give you a run-down here. That's the problem with that first page post, you can't go back and change information, and most people the grow changes a little.

Yes I used the CAP 12 Bucket system. But I was only doing 10 buckets.

4 - Afghan Kush
5 - White Widow (4 pulled/males)
1 - Clone I had from Bag Seed grow

So I really finished with 6 finished plants. The count you refer to is only for the 4 Kush plants, not the remaining two, didn't have info on these.

Hope this helps explain a bit.

I'm working on the LowRyder pictures now and will post them up soon.

Thanks!
Sf

* and the 5 lbs+ is wet weight. not dry. still impressive, but not impossible.

IMO 5 lbs dry wt. from a 1kw from 5 plants would be near impossible.

Thanks Wheel for that addition. Always great to have you as another set of eyes. Sometimes it's hard to see the entire picture.

I think having the 1000 on a light mover helped a bit, additionally, when I move things to the larger room, I'm thinking about adding another 1000 possibly even for the same amount of plants each grow.

I don't really need to max out the e-n-g setup, it's really just myself and a buddy I'm growing for, that and to say yeah, I've done that. Kind of something for my "bucket" list.

Again, thanks again for the valuable input Wheel!
