1st Grow - Ebb-N-Grow : Afghan Kush, White Widow, Bag Seed!

Update 04/24/10 - Ebb-N-Grow

Hi Everyone!

Well I've got pictures of the "main" grow in the Ebb-N-Grow system. I guess the only thing that I'm not real "proud" of is how disorganized the space looks. I'm going to chalk this up to the learning curve, and not ever have done this before. If I could have predicted that I needed more space, I would want to be able to access all sides of the plants. At this point, most if not all of the plants need support of some sort, most of the lateral branches have bent over due to the weight of the buds.

Today I noticed the res needed a little more water. About 10 gallons worth, so I decided to put a res change on hold for another day or two. Added water and reduced PH from 6.2 to about 5.7, PPM's dropped from about 2000 to 1600 with addition of water. Noticed today that RH in room is a tad high, about 65%. I'll be keeping an eye out on that, but I'm just hoping that most of these can come down next weekend. Leaves are starting to yellow, I think things are winding down!

I've also decided to reduce the light cycle. Last night I bumped down to 11 on and 13 off, I'm thinking of taking it down to almost 0 on 24 off during this last week, via hour reductions on the timer. Any thoughts on this?

Picture time!!

One more post to come:

Whatever you're doing, keep it up. You've got an outstanding bud to leaf ratio going. First thing I noticed when I looked at the pics. "Jesus, it's all bud!"

Thanks B!!!

I've read that it could be the result of the CO2 I've got pumping in to the room, but like you said, whatever the combination it's definitely all good. Looking forward to doing the trim on this batch....Just wish I was setup for clones, next time for sure.

Have a great night man!

So one more picture to close out tonight. This shot is from one of the Afghan Kush. I've circled the area which I'm using for a "diagnosis" on how far along we are. Would you guys agree that this is starting to turn amber color? At the very least, it looks like we're "mostly" cloudy with the Trics? Really I don't know what this means as far as type of "high" one achieves. I'm just more interested in not harvesting too early.

Love to hear your comments please.

Have a great night!

Very Nice Stink!!!! I am liking the height of the low ryder, definitely wouldn't have to worry about those hitting the glass in my bbox. As for the bloomin ladies, congrats, I can almost smell them over the web and I think I might have drooled a bit on my keyboard.

Thanks VE.

The LowRyders might be perfect for your BloomBox! They are short and manageable. Let's just wait and see what kind of yield they produce.

Those buds look great. I can't tell on the trichs.

Can't tell about the trichs from the pic. Have you peeked at them through a microscope?

I will say that they look really thick, though. Little buggers are elbow to elbow.

Wow! Fantastic job bro.

Hey Stink Get your self a Radio Shack Microscope. They are about $20. Then you can really check your trichs. If you have any problems with it give me a shout and I can help you. :cheertwo:

Thanks Guys!

I've got a 30x Loupe that I use also, but wanted to post some pictures up for you guys to check out (share and share alike). For all you photography buffs out there, this (lack of detail) appears to be the general limitation of the "cheaper" cameras that utilize plastic lenses as opposed to true glass lenses found on most SLR cameras. I'm working on getting my bud to come over with his ultra expensive camera and softbox lighting to take some "proper" photos. It's just really a pain-in-the-ass to setup and lug everything into the house. But as long as he can :grinjoint:, I think we'll have a good "trade".

The sample Afghan Kush that I put in the jar, has been burped for about 2 days, should be ready for a smoke report on Thursday this week. It's smelling better and better each day in that jar. I'm still trying to to wrap my head around the proper description of smell, but somewhere between a "dirty" locker room, and perhaps a jar of Vicks Vapor Rub is where my memory bank keeps drifting back to.

I guess that's about all for now. You all have a great day!

Hopefully next weekend will be pretty festive!

Well, thats better than dirty tennis shoes!:rofl:

Can you move that Ozone Generator into the closet? I smelled my paltry grow once and then turned on my little UvOnaire Junior and the smell disappeared.
I know you are hesitant to put the Can Filter in there with no room to move, but if you put the generator up high or by a fan it will blow the ozone around and 'destroy' the stink quite a bit. Just a thought.

Can't believe U haven't really stopped by til now but this looks awesome Man!!!

Hey SF, Do you have the stink under control yet? :bitingnails:

You must be anxious, but remember what they say, when you think they're wait a week.

Hey NEF. I think I've got the stink under control. Basically I moved out of the house for a week! :cheesygrinsmiley: - Actually watching my mom's dogs while out of town, so I've just been visiting them plants. Ha...Ha..

As for waiting...Yeah I know what you mean. I actually learned that one from PitViper on my first grow with Hydro. Now, I'm actually "worried" about going too long on them. Especially with smoke on hand, it's pretty easy to do, believe it or not. :bong:

Can't wait until you finish also bro!

As always, Thanks NEF!!!

Hey S.

Welcome man. You came for the best part!

I might give that a try. I do remember reading somewhere I think that Ozone wasn't really great for the plants, but I'll have to see if I can find that again somewhere. I'll probably just ride it out, and setup properly for the next go around. I'm also learning as I go, so no perfect answers just yet.

Thanks for checking things out. I really appreciate it!

I've been lurking for quite a while. You did a really nice job here Bro.

Ok, so can I do a little "rant" here?

I'm seeing more and more posts that say, take it easy with the nutes. Some don't go above 800 or 900 for the entire grow. And I might agree with this towards the end of the grow cycle, but during the beginning when vegging and flowering?

I know I'm still fairly new at this whole thing, and I've never experimented with being light on the nutes, but I've been thinking of this from what I perceive as practical theory.

When a human, animals, and plants are young and developing don't they need as much food as possible?

I'm imagining a child that is only given 1/2 his amount of recommended daily allowance, this can cause all kinds of problems later in life. Not having the proper amount of nutrients are not allowing the plants to reach their maximum potential, would you agree?

Yes, it's probably okay to do fewer reservoir changes, trying to save a few bucks. But not allowing the plants to feed as much as possible I think is doing a disservice.

I'd like to hear other opinions on this and what you guys think?

Thanks, SF Out!
