1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL & LED Grow Tent

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

If the closet grower goes without checking PPM and PH, is his plants doom to die? or will they just give a few less buds?

No, please don't think that I am insulted, (I am a tuff old bird), or that I am trying to insulting you. I am not saying that they are going to die! I am a closet grower too, and I started have many problems across the board after about 5 or 6 weeks into my grow. And people trying to help was asking me what was my ph, (it cause nutrient lock where the plants can't get the nutrient's and mineral's they need...and I would say this is very important), what was my ppm's, (a way to test if I am need to feed my plants Cal. and Mag., and if I am over fertilizing them and burning them with nitrogen), and I didn't know what they were talking about. But after I got them the problems start going away and I no longer worry...that is all I am saying. :)

I use a PH pen but never used ppm reading but just after reading what they can help with i think i may look at getting one. Thanks knotspeed. How do you use it . I mean do u test the water runoff

widlwelshman, the ppm meter it is not for checking the run off, that would be the ph pen, it is for checking your water prior to watering and after you add your fertilizer. If you are not having Cal. and/or Mag. problems chances are you are okay without one...that was not the case with me...no trace elements (minerals) in my water.

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

Thanks everyone for explaining PPM and Cal/Mag stuff to me :)

Update day 18. Not much to report. The girls are still alive and growing. Seeing a lot of new growth on each node now. Its getting so crowded with leaves its getting difficult to see which node they are now on.. I think its 6.

Took the girls out of their tent today to have a chat, Told them how proud I was of them, and we discussed the Hurricane that is expected to land here in the next few hours. Told them not to be afraid, their daddy will keep them safe :)

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

Hope you are safe during the storm...will be waiting to hear from you when it has passed.
Thanks Knots. I am sure I will lose power, we always do. The good news is it should coincide with the girls lights out period anyway (or close to it).

I'll keep ya all informed!

Day 20 update!
The girls are still growing strong! I didn't take them out of the tent today to take pics, so the pics are a little LED lit. I'll try and update more tomorrow as I am just feeling lazy today :)

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

Hey all might be late to the party here but if your concerned with power outage you could pick up a battery back up from a pc shop since your running low wattage leds

The girls are looking great pilot...keep it up. As for the power going off, if you don't have a generator then there is nothing that you can do about it. I am not sure but if it was just for one day, I don't think so. But if it was for a few days it may force them into flowering early. I wouldn't worry about something you can't control and deal with it has it comes along. If I lost power for a few days I would just start where it went off and let it roll.

I am sure someone else with have input as well...just be calm and remember it is a week :)

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

Update Day 22! The girls are in week 3 now. Everything is still looking great to me. Lots of growth, color looks good. The stems look strong. Since I do not see any issues at this point I am guessing I should hold off on feeding them their first nutes. (Unless you all see anything I don't or advise otherwise)

Re: 1st Grow - Bubblelicious CFL and LED Grow tent.

Ok I have a few questions for you.
1. I see your dipping down to 68 at night when the light is off. have you considered supplemental heating for night time?
2. Have you thought about how different in height your auto will be compared to your photo period plant for light height and distance
3. Don't know if you mentioned which nutes your were going to use, but some say to start them at certain weeks of development.
4. Whats your PH of your run off this is essential for your plants because lets face it nutes are not cheap and you can waste them if your plants can not take them out of the soil

1. I see your dipping down to 68 at night when the light is off. have you considered supplemental heating for night time?

Its been pretty warm and humid here during the day, so I have been running my AC in my room to cool off and to help control the humidity. If I don't run the AC, I won't be able to sleep. The lights go out at midnight, and thats when it probably dips down in the temps inside the tent. I was planning on changing the cycle for lights on at night and off during the day when i go into flower. Do you think the temps are getting too low?

2. Have you thought about how different in height your auto will be compared to your photo period plant for light height and distance

Not really, Both plats were advertised to be bushy, and so far are true to that. I didn't think there would be much difference in size?

3. Don't know if you mentioned which nutes your were going to use, but some say to start them at certain weeks of development.

Yea, I am using Fox Farm Liquid Nutrient Trio Soil Formula: Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom. IIR, they do recommend starting them at the 3rd week, However, I see a lot of people saying not to start until your plants show signs of deficiencies...?

4. Whats your PH of your run off this is essential for your plants because lets face it nutes are not cheap and you can waste them if your plants can not take them out of the soil

I have no way to test the runoff. I still have not bought a meter. I have been using distilled water and checked the PH with my General Hydroponics GH1514 Ph Control Kit, The water is right where it should be going in. Also my soil is Fox Farm Ocean....

Thanks for the help Antagonist!
