1st Grow: Blue Dream

It s so true! Even if we're all looking for huge harvest, it s so grateful to grow nice shaped looking plants growing things in a symmetrical way! Your tent looks wonderful @Mr. Magoo!
Thanks Flash! I do love the symmetry. I even feel OCD when I have to pull a branch out of line. Lol. I’m very happy so far. I’m curious to see how this last bit will go. According to 420 these finish in 9-10 weeks and I’m about halfway through that.

Thanks so much Ase, you and all the quadsquad. Lol. I appreciate all the advice and guidance through the training of these girls. And I’m definitely excited to quadline some girls in docs kit. I didn’t think any of us were using that medium yet. Excited to try something new. I’ve been meaning to ask you about this auto I’ve got growing. I know you aren’t a fan of autos but I know you’ve grown some nice ones. I was still planning to top at the 4th node but wasn’t sure about other training. She is outdoors in a 10g softpot. Would you still remove lower branches or would you just lst as she grew to keep everything spread out? Or just top and let her go?

I did it the same as I did with a regular quadline. Just think of it being far faster and you have to do things by reading where the plant is at rather than this week do this and this next one do that. Funny part is an auto is very easy to grow but not so easy to grow to the full potential. I have nothing against autos except for I always felt like the quality isn't as good as a photo and I like to dictate the plants schedule. The latter is just a personal preference and the former is just plain science. Although just like the gap between hydro and soil has closed in terms of quality, so has the auto vs photo gap. If you talk in terms of perfection then I believe the best quality is going to come from soil and be a photoperiod plant. I do think nowadays you can grow in hydro and still outgrow 90% of the soil growers in terms of quality and get a way better yield than anyone in soil can achieve. Same concept with autos vs photos. If you master autos then you likely can grow better plants than photos 90% of the time.

In the end someone that can read the plant, how it is growing, when to do things like topping/training and when to boost things in the feed schedule are always going to grow the best stuff no matter what medium its in.

Hey guys. Got in the tent for a a few minutes to just give it a look over. Gonna shower and then give them a water. While I was in there though I noticed that some of the sugar leaves had a brown tint to the trichomes visibly. Looked through the loupe and there are pretty big sections that have a lot of Amber trichomes. Would any of you expect this at day 33 of flower? Most of the pistols are still white but there are numerous dark ones now. There are lots of clear trichomes as well but a decent % amber. Not sure what to do. I want these girls to go as long as they can before harvest but I also don’t want all dark trichomes either. Any insight is appreciated.

Sugar leaves almost always turn amber before the buds. How long did you think it should flower until harvest? What was the breeders time frame?
9-10 weeks

He grows so damn many it's hard to keep track of. Can you get some pictures up Magoo? Might help
I’ve tried to get some but can’t get any to turn out. Just got an iPhone. It’s like every once in a while I can get a good one. Lol. I got to looking closer and all the ones on the buds are clear still. I’ll be watching tho.

Sugar leaves turn far earlier than the bud itself. No worries here. Bud is all that matters.

Flower Day 33
RH ~40
Temp 68-78

^^^^^^ All of this! ^^^^^^
Lol.
Watered the girls with just ph’d water. Didn’t add calmag this time. The brown tips I noticed the other night are a bit worse so I thought I may cut the calmag at this point. What are y’all’s thoughts on that?

could be nutrient toxicity...in particular, Nitrogen...cal mag does contain nitrogen as well...could also be watering issues as well...I hate offering diagnostics, cause often it could be numerous issues...cutting out the cal mag for now is probably a good idea, IMHO...a healthy watering or two won't hurt anything...they're looking quite nice other than those few tips...cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:

Ok. So I think I’ll head Amy’s advice and do one grow of photos in docs kit before trying the autos. So with that being said I have some decisions to make. Looking at the seed inventory there are a couple I’m excited to grow. The 707 Headband from Humboldt and the G13 Haze from Barney’s Farm. Those 2 will be in there for sure. Think I will go with just one more strain since the pots will be bigger for this grow as well. May end up pretty crowded but I think I’d like the challenge. So the options for the 3rd plant are below with breeder reported flower times. They don’t necessarily have to finish at the same time but relatively close would be nice. The flowering time for the G13 is 65-75 days and for the Headband is 63-68 days. Here are the other options....

Sativas:
Cheese - 9-10 weeks
Velvet Bud - 9 weeks

Indicas:
Aurora Indica 7-9 weeks
Peyote Critical 55-60 days
Lemon candy 56 days
Kings Kush 9 weeks

Now looking at that list the kings Kush seemed the most comparable of the indicas but upon watching videos from greenhouse seeds it seems to finish around day 50 or so. So with that said I’m gonna leave it up to you guys.

In other news....Ordered Doc Buds High Brix kit today. Really excited about that. Hopefully I can have it ready by the time the Blue Dream girls are finished. Next upgrade will be lights! But that may be a minute! Lol.
Yes Mags!! Good man. Im up for that aswell. Gonna have to make some dough and get other bits first though. Temp control is needed first and foremost for me.
