1st Grow: Blue Dream

Good to see you in my neck of the woods Sue! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Yes indeed I am having a wonderful day Magoo. :hugs: I hope yours is as delightful. :battingeyelashes:

I’ve been reading in a couple threads lately the differences in wet trimming and dry trimming. I wonder if this is part of the same conversation. Are the buds still pulling elements from the leaves for a bit if you dry trim. I don’t know. It’s all new to me. Lol. I just want the best taste and potency I can get with my setup. Lol. That’s all I want!

Wet trimming will free the terpenes to fly away when you dry. If you let them dry, fans and all, it protects those invaluable isomers from floating off en masse.

After the plant has dried the fans come off easily and the buds are easy enough to trim.

If you do trim wet I recommend you wash the buds. It’ll make it easier to avoid extreme stickiness during the trim. I snap the fans off while the branches are hanging to drip dry.

To get the best possible terpene expression from your buds explore low and slo drying. Are you aware of the thread?

Didn’t know there was a thread on it but have read through conversations on this in other journals. If you can give us a link I will definitely check it out and another curios soul may wander through and be interested as well. I’ve been thinking of purchasing a mini fridge for that purpose as I couldn’t use my regular one because of living in a full house. Lol

Here you go Magoo. Low and slo It’s 67 pages in, and it’s become very simplified. I may rework some of these threads in the next year.

I use lunch bags, 28 grams wet inside each bag, laid on their side to offer more surface area. I’ll get about 25% of the start in dry weight, and that means for every four bags in the fridge I can expect an ounce.

It’s also turned out to be a good amount for drying purposes. I’m usually finishing with rice balls by the end of week two, and I don’t even check my temps and humidity levels anymore.

It gets to be habitual. The taste and clean smoke make it worth the wait. You won’t pick up the smells in the jar the way you will with hang dried, but break one of these babies open and you’re in a bit of canna heaven.

I trust the process so much that I consider oil made with low and slo buds to be nearly equivalent to FHO. FHO will beat the rest out every time, but these buds make one fine oil themselves.

We have DrZiggy to thank for this one. :battingeyelashes:

Thanks! I’ll definitely check it out!

I had like you read a lot about it and so different videos. It came drying the hole plant before curing is way to have best taste as it takes part of slow drying the buds. I also found after tested it that trimming was easier cause leaves dry faster than flowers so there is a right window when you can just see the leaves crispping between your fingers and have the perfect flowers! It makes it so much more easier. Plus you won't have to wait much curing to have nice smell

I’m actually considering doing my next low and slo drying without trimming the buds from the branches. I’ll cut the branches down to a manageable size and bag them up whole. Like you, I’m curious to see if it makes that much difference.

The terpenes direct the action of the cannabinoids. They determine the nature of your experience and the quality of cannabinoid signaling, as in the case of non-psychotropic cannabinoids.

The more we preserve the outer the experience. I don’t know about you flash, but I get excited looking for ways to make even better cannabis meds. :battingeyelashes:

How long do you go before up potting an auto? And definitely thanks for stopping by!!

...I'm relatively new to auto's, but based on what I read, most folks prefer to start them in their final pot(so that's what I've done), or soon after seedling is established...the thought being, that when the tap hits bottom, it triggers the vigorous growth pattern...I've used 7 gal fabric and 5 gal plastic with OK results(3 zips per)lots grow in 3's...but I kinda' subscribe to the bigger pot theory...cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:

I’ve got 10s coming in the mail Friday. I think I’ll put her in one of those. Probably overkill but it was the size recommended by rqs for growing this plant outdoors. Got some great white showing up that day also. So we will see how it goes. When transitioning a seedling or plant from indoors to outdoors is there a “best practice “ or do you just put her out there?

Here she is for now!
