Well for me its about potential yield. More roots, bigger shoots. I know what I can get from 5 gallon pots, want to try out 7 and 10 gallon pots....perhaps 15 gallons if I am going to do a really big plant in long veg. Obviously if I go bigger pots, nutrient issues won't be present. I am trying to find the point of diminishing returns essentially. I know I am going to veg for 8 weeks per plant in the perpetual grow so what size pot is going to give me the biggest yield in that 8 week veg and then flower time frame...thats really what I am looking for Guy. And since I make my own soil, I am not too concerned with the cost side of things as it pertains to using more soil. I can start working on re-amending my soil between runs and have it tested to ensure I have it on point for 2nd or 3rd runs. So I don't care if I am using 10 gallon pots instead of 5 or 7 gallon pots as long as the increase in the yield is a decent %.
Yeah i am looking forward to playing with those Ace genetics. My list of potential strain creation is growing rather quickly! I have a feeling its only going to get worse as my seed stock keeps increasing! I am coming up on 150 different strains in my possession now (not an exaggeration at all)
Yeah I am not sure how many strains that i have seen and thought "Yuck, I don't want to try that"....but I am pretty sure its around zero.
In the perpetual, I should be able to grow out about 25 strains a year if I don't duplicate once I am up and running. The first year will be lower, estimate is about 18 strains in year 1.......25 per year after that......so I should be through my current strain list in 6-7 years LOL.

Flower Day 56 Update
Time is drawing very close for the harvesting to begin. I pulled one cola of the Blueberry x ATF and picked through it for seeds. Came away with about 32 really nice seeds of that cross. If that ratio holds true, I will pull about 100 seeds from the Blueberry that I pollinated ATF. I looked at the Durban and the Blue Kush and they look to be about as pregnant.
I watered again today with my flower tea (1 cup of EWC, 3 tablespoons of Seabird Guano, 1 tablespoons of Bat Guano, 1/4 teaspoons of dried ground Kelp). I am really starting to see some fattening on the ATF buds. They are getting much denser as well. The Durban buds are like squeezing a rock!
I will take a look at trichomes tomorrow and see who is getting cut down on Monday. On a side note, we went to Ms Stanks sister's for thanksgiving and her husband gave me a few buds from a strain he said is called Mind Eraser (must be local strain or something). It was a more traditional smelling strain but I gotta say I was disappointed with its potency. It was a mellow Sativa from what I could tell, definitely not on par with the Durban Poison I grow or the Mob Boss I tried. Anyways, here are the girls in their last group picture before someone gets cut down!!

Attaboy Van! Lol. Don't worry you have plenty of company. I run ~30 new strains a year. Try for at least a couple of repeats or favorites ea. run....rest are new. Did you shop the sales this weekend? Some good ones.

So the plan after the harvest is to CLEAN!! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and just when I think its clean, clean one more time. We aren't sure what the plans for the xmas holidays are yet (if we will have company here or if we will go out of state to visit family) so I will likely wait until the new year to start rolling. As for strains.......I have a list and a schedule but I realize I may move strains around as I see fit based on needs or wants.
1st up will be 2 Nukeheads that I will run in a separate Sponsor grow journal.
After the Nukeheads will be a Blue Dream that I will start 2 weeks after the Nukeheads. Then Ms Stank will pop her growing cherry with a Harlequin two weeks after the Blue Dream. From there I will do a Northern Lights two weeks later.
Essentially I will be alternating between an Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, and CBD strains. Remaining on the list after what is above are in no set order GG4, GSC, White Widow, Jack Herrer, Carnival, Cinderella 99, LSD, Amherst Sour Diesel, ACDC, Sour Blueberry, OG Kush, Master Kush, Green Crack, Mother of Berries, Dark Star, Purple Kush, Purple Haze, a Skunk, a Cheese, Ripper Haze (basically Amnesia Haze), and a couple others that will include the recent ACE purchases.
Each two weeks I will pop a new bean......each bean will veg for roughly 8 weeks and then move the flower tent when I cut one down. There will be up to 5 in flower and 4-5 in various stage of veg. I like the idea of alternating between Indica, Sativa, Hybrid and CBD. Will always have me with a fresh harvest and a lot of variety for smoke, oils or whatever other method I experiment with next. My whole schedule is based off a 10 week flower time.....so there might be times where I am running a strain that is either faster or slower than that so there will be some fluctuation on harvests.
I will also be sliding some the Stank Genetic crosses in there (won't veg them for long, maybe 3-4 weeks and then flip to sample them maybe take a clone off them before I put them in flower....so if one is a gem I still have the genetics) and of course there might need to run some some seed harvests on any good genetics I find. SO thats the plan....clear as mud!!

I hate waiting to try new strains, especially with the plant limits they give me. Kind of hard to move on to new genetics unless you do mixed strain grows and I am way too OCD for that. I like nice even canopies.
I'm trying to get into cycling between indica and sativas too but my problem is that I never harvest enough to last me until the next harvest, so I only ever have one or the other on hand. Saving up for a 315 W CMH hoping that can bump up my yields a little. So no seeds for me for a while!
A buddy of mine just gave me a bunch of CBD Blueberry seeds. They're massive, biggest seeds I've seen in a while.

The seeds from the Blueberry X ATF are huge!!! So much bigger than the regular ATF seeds. I would probably say that they are the biggest seeds I have seen thus far.
I am restricted on plant numbers as well, but for usage purpose that limit is high enough at 12 (6 per person) to keep me medicine needs met. From the breeding and pheno hunting, it just won't do. I am like you.....I like an even canopy but I like the flexibility of growing different strains as I need them more than I like an even canopy. Of course I could get halfway through my line up and decide I want to go back to full grows. Its all an experimentation for me brother!!
