Young plants growing (slowly) and have drooping leaves.

Well, a half pound may be ambitious. (especially with the way the grow has started) But I do plan to attempt to "maximize" the grow.

Thanks for the advice!

you have to account for the 2 1/2 too 3 1/2 months flower on top of veg growth. So a really nice size grow can be around 5 too 6 months.

Sorry man I got to hit the sack its 5am and I got to get up and go too grow store in a few hours. I hope that I helped a little. Nice talking to you and Happy Growing. Oh and feel free to click on my links and say hello and keep in touch. I do have youtube videos on doing Fimming topping and tying on my forums. Have a good one..

Time's not really a factor. However long it takes is OK. But I was certainly thinking they should be progressing faster than they currently are.

LOL, I planted some garden seeds in flats the same day as these. Vegetables are leaving the MJ in the dust!

Over water slows grow way down. Roots stop growing looking for water and they are drowning. Roots are not gold fish lol Live and learn my friend.

I shall bow to the consensus and assume they are over watered. I truly do not see how--it seems like a @#$% desert in there. But, I will wait until they start drooping/wilting before watering again.

I've been going by "guessing" the dry weight, and it always feels light. When I KNOW it's dry, I am going to weigh that sucker and use that as my baseline. Maybe I'll have a bit more experience in judging by the time I transplant.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

:welcome: TO :420: This is the best growers site there is! Everyone is extremely helpful! I'm a nube also and have much to learn, I've hitched my wagon to CO Finest's as well as several others. You'll see after you've looked around which of the guys(and gals) have the experience to get you through your first few grows until you get some experience of your own. Subscribe to forums and threads of the ones you want to keep up with and you can get email updates to keep you in the loop. Good Luck my friend and "Keep the green side up!"

 Well, that's what I thought I was doing. One reason I used the peat pots instead of a plastic one is so I could see the outside, touch the bottom, etc and get an idea of moisture level. But that theory is shot... Live and learn!

Peat pots are notorious for looking and feeling dry while the medium it contains is still quite saturated.

Welcome..:welcome: I have to give my 2 cents cause I just have to and I agree they look a bit over watered. I think the #1 noob mistake is over watering the babies when they are very young. I did it my first grow and I think a good majority of everyone else on their first grow did too but with that being said let them dry out good between watering especially at this stage to get a better root ball. If they stay wet the roots will just grow straight down as they are not having to search for water where if the have to search for the moisture they will grow around the pot forming a nice root ball. Not root bound but a root ball and the better root formation you have the better plant you will have then a better harvest. OK maybe that was only worth .01 cents but there ya go and happy to have ya around....:circle-of-love:

Well this morning the leaves are definitely droopy/wilting looking. So, I know they needed water. I've topped them off and will check back in a couple of hours to see how they are doing.

Should the leaves that were cupped now come out straight? Or will they remain cupped for the life of the plant?

Hello kazz. Your leaves will straighten out once the plant gets happy again, you just have to make them happy first. Now that you have watered them thoroughly DONT water again for 4 or 5 days at least. Those little guys dont drink much water so wait and make sure they are completely dried out before you water again.

I use solo cups for my seedlings and clones and they only get watered every 5 to 7 days with 100 ml or roughly 3.5 ozs of water if and only when they are completely dry and I have yet to see one droop from under watering which would be the other reason a plant would have droopy leaves but even then its not the same look.

Thanks for the reply. I'm beginning to think part of my problem is the peat pots. Maybe the fan running in the tent is drying the soil from the edges inward and making it difficult for me to determine moisture. I won't use them again.

This morning the wilted appearance was definitely from being too dry. They were last watered on Friday morning (4/11) so that is what, four days? Anyway, I watered them this morning and the leaves have perked back up. But I'm still seeing the cupping. I'll give them a few more hours and take some pics tonight and post.

This is beginning to bug me. I've raised vegetables/flowers from seeds for years now, and while I won't say I've never had difficulties, I don't remember being this clueless. I really wish I hadn't went the coco route on this grow and just used the same potting mix that I always use for the veggies. Between soil differences and ph changes, I may have just given myself too many variables in my routine.

Again, thanks for the encouragement!

I do not like that combo for growing personally, I KNOW ITS FINE!! Just im a soil guy so I stick to what I know :) Well it maybe correct about the watering, also, I raise my girls under CFL's too, until theyre nearly 1ft in height or so, they like it better than the 400w MH at the start-CFL lighting inspires young plants to grow!
Maybe buy urself a SOIL MOISTURE METER/PH METER combo and you can check the moisture levels. I usually wait til the run off tray is dry and top few inches are all dry..
I wish I could offer more ideas but other than an incorrect nutrient amounts in ur medium? Soil shouldnt be all dry like sand, so it maybe under watering.. $00w does dry out quickly especially with fans going.. Evaporation! Good luck, Smokem..

I actually have one of those meters that I use in my flower beds and garden. It's just a bit too bulky to use in the small pots. I transplanted the plants to larger fabric pots this morning so I will be able to use it.

Thanks for the input!

Update on the plants. I don't believe the problem is overwatering...

As I said in an earlier post--I let the plants go until they had a wilting appearance, then watered them with ph'ed water. I kept track of them during the day, and the leaves perked up and remoisturized nicely. BUT, the leaves were still cupped/drooping. Plus, I was beginning to get some yellowing of the bottom leaves. I'm assuming because I'm running light on nutrients:

Here is a pic 12 hours after I watered (4/15):

This morning (4/17) the pots and medium seemed to be dry again, bot plants still had the drooping leaves:

I turned one of the pots and was able to easily pour out the medium. I stopped because I could see roots and didn't just want to dump it out.

I decided to go ahead and transplant the seedlings/plants to two gallon fabric pots and to turn off the oscillating fan in the tent. Maybe that will slow down evaporation and allow me to better monitor the situation:

I didn't have any potting soil at the house or I probably would have switched from coco. But, that is what I had, so they are in a 75/25 ratio of coco to perlite. They were watered with GH Flora nutrients and ph 5.8 water.

I'd appreciate it if someone could take a look at the leaves of the plants and give me an idea if they are still able to be salvaged.

Thank you for looking.

You can transplant the entire peat pot as long as you bury it completely in the soil, otherwise the top part will wick moisture from around the seedling's roots if it's exposed.

Looks like a rock wool cube in there? is that wet? Your soil could all be dry but that wet and theres your problem. and what about the soil that didnt fall out?

Now I see you said RapidRooters but still if they are wet all the time, even when the soil is dry then thats over watering cuz there is constant moisture around the roots.

I also just looked back and see its only been 2 days since the last time you watered. You really gotta stop and back off a bit or youll kill them. They need to breathe.
