Yankeetoker At It Again: C99 & Pineapple Chunk In Soil Under LED Lights

Re: Yankeetoker At It Again - C99 & Pineapple Chunk In Soil Under LED Lights

Lush and happy. Very well done :) !
Thanks, Rado! You guys got me through the last one, and as you can see I learned a lot from you.. Thanks again for all your help.

How has the move been? You guys all settled in?

Also sitting in. They look great. I don't think you can go wrong in PeeJay soil.
Thanks, Jim. It's crazy how well these plants are growing. My first grow attempt was a disaster. My last attempt was saved by PeeJay, Dennise, Radogast, and CareStaker, but I feel much better with these two.

Again, thanks for stopping in!

 Too much good stuff to miss. Gotta go back to check your specs on Page 1 cause that is some awesome growth!
Because of my first two attempts, I didn't realize how well/fast they were growing until I went back and looked at pics. This soil is really doing it's job!

Thanks for stopping by.

Update 8/23/16 ( Day 21 veg/34 from seed)

Plants are continuing to thrive. Plants were watered last night with pH adjusted rainwater only (CalMag was added to last watering on 8/19).

Plants are needing water every 3 days or so, and roots are seen coming through 2 gallon Smart pots when nearly dry.

Question...how much longer before they need to go into 5 gallon pots with bloom soil (I was hoping to veg for 30-40 days)?

Some pics from the past couple of days...

You should be fine letting them veg as you planned, if you start to notice stunted growth before then, then I would transplant.
That's what I figured, but just wanted to ask. Haven't noticed any stunted growth, but some yellowing leaves on the bottom of both plants.

I mostly attribute it to leaves getting wet during watering, though. The rest of the plants both look great, so I've just been removing them.

Question for you guys....Cindy seems to be growing well, but the "center" of the plant is showing signs of "something"....

The first pic shows the whole plant...

The second pic shows a closer view of the area of concern...

420-magazine-mobile55591008.jpg

She had been under the Mars Hydro 48 Reflector up until last night when I moved her under the Mars Hydro II 300 (she actually looked a bit more perky this morning)...

Noticed the stems were turning purple since the change to LED lighting...will add CalMag to each watering from here on out.

Thoughts?

:thumb: up the Cal Mag, and keep everything else the same. Make sure they get a good drink, then let them dry out till the pot is light. They are very healthy looking overall though, and they are going to grow pretty fast from here, so you can plan out what you want to do now. When you imagine you're a week away from the flip, I'd up-pot and prune the lowers, then flip the following week. That suits the style that I grow in, but in general, you want to have some soil for your plants to push roots into - throughout the stretch and early flower period - especially sativa doms. :volcano-smiley:

Hope she will be better soon.:Namaste:
I also heared that after plants move to under LED grow light, plants need more CAL/MAG,but i'm not sure about it yet.:Namaste:

Re: Yankeetoker At It Again - C99 & Pineapple Chunk In Soil Under LED Lights

Update 8/27/16 (Day 25 veg/38 from seed)

Both plants started to show yellowing of leaves since I switched from CFL to LED lighting. I had given a dose of CalMag the watering before last, but still showing a deficiency.

Last night I gave both plants 1 gallon of ph adjusted rainwater with 1 TBSP liquid kelp and 1 TSP of CalMag and will add the CalMag every watering from here on out and the kelp every other watering.

Cindy....

Will develop what looks like 6 tops, but the center of the plant is definitely showing signs of a deficiency.

Patti...

Is also showing some signs of deficiency, but not as bad as Cindy. I hope the CalMag deals with this issue, they were doing so well early on .

Will continue to monitor their appearance over the next few days as I prepare to move them into their final 5 gallon pots with my bloom soil.

420-magazine-mobile1128396121.jpg

Once they go into the bloom soil, I will transition them to HPS lights for flower ...they will each have their own 150w light. .

This is the second grow where my plants have shown adverse effects under LED lighting...I'm really thinking about just getting a 300 watt MH to veg them after they outgrow the veg box with CFL.

Any thoughts on that? Thanks for stopping by. ..

Yellowing looks like it's just on older lower leaves, so could be nitrogen or just aging as plant recycles less productive leaves. You could try a mild foliar feeding which would speed recovery if it is a deficiency.

As for LEDs, it could just be timing. By the time you move the plants from CFL to LED they are at point where consuming lot more nutrients. also I noticed increased growth rate when I switched to LED (same as yours), which would make low magnesium more of a problem. A lot of my stems turned purple but I still have good growth so I don't worry about it, not much anyway.

As fast as your girls are growing I'd bet they used up initial nutes in soil quickly. With cal/mag you're already on top of it. :high-five:

p.s. I took one more look at last photo and that's more than just aging, so ignore that comment and go with N.

Re: Yankeetoker At It Again - C99 & Pineapple Chunk In Soil Under LED Lights

Thanks for looking in guys....

I ended up removing the leaves that easily came off and gave each girl 48 ounces of pH adjusted rainwater with 5 TSP of 5-1-1 Alaska fish fertilizer/ gallon.

I know the yellow leaves won't change back, but will keep an eye on them to see how the new growth and healthy leaves respond.

I am hoping to transplant up to the 5 gallon geo pots in the next 5-7 days.

A few pics from last night and this morning...

Been a rough week or so, fighting deficiencies, but the girls are looking much better..since last update on 8/29, both plants have been transplanted into 5 gallon geopots with "bloom soil".

Plan is to get them healthy, then flip them to 12/12 in the next 5-7 days.

At her worst, Cindy on 9/1....

Both girls looking much better, and the panic was at a minimum, thanks 420 friends for the tips.

Good morning.....I think these ladies are ready to flip.....after lights came on, I started the process of cutting back time to 16 on/8 off...will cut another 2 hours every 24 hours until down to 12/12.

I will also transition from LED to HPS by the weekend...

Girls are still under the LED's for now....both plants look to have completely recovered since transplant, kelp foliar, and alfalfa tea..

They are currently on their second cycle of 14/10 and are starting to show pre-flowers.. When lights come on tonight, I will adjust timer to begin 12/12 schedule.

They are getting kind of "light" (I weigh them twice a day and I think it has really helped me dial in to their needs), and they have another day or so before "the soak"....tomorrow will be 7 days since they were last watered.

Couple of shots from this morning...
