Vape and grow review for the Super Lemon Haze and Chocolope plants
The last harvest has been curing now for about a week, and I thought I would give my impressions of the Super Lemon Haze and Chocolope from this round.
The Deadhead OG was a clone from the last round, and shouldn't be much different as far as the overall effect, taste or smell. In fact, I haven't sampled the Deadhead OG from this round yet, but if anything is different this time around for some reason, I'll share that when I do.
Super Lemon Haze
Growing Super Lemon Haze:
My Super Lemon Haze pheno was a really sativa-prone variation. It grew sativa looking buds with fat, stacked calyx's and very little bulk to them. Part of that might be due to how I grew it - since I was working with limited space, I had to bush all of the sativas out to limit stretch. So, some of that is probably to be expected due to the way I bushed it out. Having said that, the buds were almost freakishly loaded with trichomes, and smelled amazing. I've seen much more "hybrid" looking variations of this plant than mine, but I've been looking to maximize the sativa characteristics anyway (sativas seem to help my nerve pain more). The stretch was a bit stressful, as she kept growing slightly up until near week 7. I harvested her around week 9, and believe it or not, she was plenty ready at that time.
Taste, smell, and experience (Super Lemon Haze):
Super Lemon Haze smells amazing and tastes amazing too. The taste mimics the "Lemonheads" candy smell nicely, and it's quite something how similar it actually is to "Lemonheads". Also, the taste is very similar to the Jack the Ripper I grew the round before. It's a strong smeller, and the skunk in her lineage can creep out so you have to be aware of your surroundings if you crack open a nug. The drying/curing and flushing seem to have gone well as it's very smooth and pleasant with no harshness at all.
The effects are fantastic. This is old-school giggle weed with a pretty big kick. No confusing this with an indica, as it's very cerebral and leaves me feeling energized AND creative. This is first class medicine and a real winner. It is something I already cherish and amongst the very best I've had. I really like it. The "high" lasts quite a while for me and is a very nice trip. The only down side, and it isn't necessarily a down side all the time, is that it seems to have more of a couchlock finish than I'd like. It's not terrible, but something to be aware of in that I prefer this one in the early evening as opposed to mid-day. Also, a little caffeine or something seems to offset it pretty good.
Yield (SLH):
Despite skinny long sativa buds, each plant yielded about 3z each, so I harvested about 6z total from the 2 Super Lemon Haze plants. I think I could have yielded twice that with plump budded indicas, but I'm looking more for quality than quantity right now. I'm actually happy with the yield on these 2 plants grown indoors.

Chocolope
Growing Chocolope:
Chocolope was a nice plant to grow, but I should have eased up on her nutes some in bloom. She also demanded more Cal/Mag from me than I was initially doling out, and ended up with both calcium and magnesium deficiencies. I decided to veer away from my "lighter" nutrient regime this last round and play with heavier PPM feedings. I learned some things, but I think they cost me some too. Nonetheless, the Chocolope grew some amazingly nice buds and was a really nice plant in every respect. Nice structure, nice dense buds for a mostly sativa hybrid especially, and a lot of budsites.
Taste, smell, and experience (Chocolope):
This pheno of Chocolope is nearly identical in flavor and smell to the last one I grew. A bit like fruity pebbles, perhaps. Very fruity, and I don't really notice the chocolate influence personally. I don't care either, because this is still one of my favorites flavor wise, and the fruity pebble taste is quite pleasant and keeps me wanting more. I really really like Chocolope, and it is still my overall favorite strain - I'm so glad to have more!
This is another sativa experience all the way. Giggly, fun, creative, motivated... those are the words that come to mind. I like that I don't crash at the end like I do with the SLH, and there just doesn't seem to be a downside to the experience with Chocolope for me. Sometimes, it leaves me a little paranoid if I vape too much of it, or am feeling that way already. But, that's rare. Like the previous plant I'd grown, it seems to help quite a little with nerve pain and pain in general. Leaving the normal pain feeling warm and a little buzzy, but not "painful". It's no wonder of the world, but it helps more than most strains (if not all) that I've tried. Still #1 in my book!
Yield (Chocolope):
I think I could have yielded much better, had I not screwed up with burning her some and going light on the Cal/Mag. Still, she yielded just under 3z for me. Not bad, but I'd like to have more.
A couple notes on the Deadhead OG:
The slightly longer flowering schedule this round gave her buds more of an indica look and overall smaller calyx's and a more typical bud structure. I think D.J. Short is on to something as far as his theory that light schedules can "coax" out sativa or indica characteristics. I still ahven't sampled it from this round yet, but it does look a little different. Deadhead yielded 4.1z and was an easy plant to grow again. No burns, no deficiencies, just happy happy happy.
Overall yield -- Overall between the 4 plants the total yield for the last flowering round was almost exacly 13z (dry). Plenty for my own needs (which is all I grow for) and a nice number for me considering these were mostly sativa hybrids. Again, for me quality is the main goal as quantity doesn't need to be huge for me. That considered, I'm very happy with this last grow!!
Sorry for the long delay on this and the lack of pics/updates lately. Thank you everyone for following along and commenting, and all the great tips and help along the way. You guys all still... rock!
