Woodsman's Northern Light #5 Grow

Outdoor

Here's a group shot of all but of the Outdoor plants minus Big Girl and the NL#5 who are both still keeping the Runt company.

Here's our kitty keeping a good eye out for any potential threat! She's got her bowl of tuna fish 'water' to keep her there! LOL Her favorite snack is the water from the tuna fish can! She doesn't like the tuna though! Go figure. She likes the dry food!

OMM your a great teller of tales! You and lavendar are a real kick! I'm sure I passed ya on one of the back roads up in the wine country, I waved you waved and then on through more terrific countryside! I know I've mentioned it before, but one of my favorite things to do whether with a girlfriend or by myself was to pull the bike over and walk a little ways into the redwoods, find a beautiful spot and blaze one up! Most likely had some great green bud, nice and skunky. If someone was close by they would of heard some strange noises (like me hacking my lungs out) Probably thought it was 'Bigfoot'! LOL

I would never have left the Bay Area if it hadn't been for that darn quake in '89. Just too much of a hassle to drive around between the Peninsula and the East Bay with the Bay Bridge down. Much of our work at that time was the military bases and the Ports where I'd p/u or return containers. Worked out of Brisbane until the quake. Then they moved to Burlingame. The old 'tire factory' that housed our truck co. in Brisbane. had major damage during the quake. I was one of the lucky ones, My Suzuki was parked in a different spot than the cars were and many of them got crushed when the brick rampart around the roof fell on them! Talk about a 'ton of bricks'! I had always worked at least 9 -10 hrs a day, then after the quake I would be lucky if it were 10 hrs. Just got fed up and with traffic jams all day long so after 11 yrs in the area it was off to Idaho and trucking the entire Western US.

Hey Woodsman:grinjoint:
Funny you mentioned both Lavendar and I. We have both said we have lived our lives. Guess its true. :grinjoint:

Every time I was in the redwoods it felt kind of holy or sacred, such peace.

My son Russ was in a shopping center in Oakland during the 89 quake. He hit the floor. Window were exploding all over in there. Scared the crap out of him.

I watched the aftermath on TV here. The Bay Bridge was almost unbelievable. Glad you were not on it. Yep, the rerouting and the mess it caused, I can see where it would drive you crazy in traffic. Shame you had to leave, but sure understand it. Sure glad you and your Suzuki survived.
Guess another way to look at it all is you started a new adventure in a new place.:cheertwo:

Me again Woodsman Looks like your ready for the summer. 10 plants in pots ready to go and couple of revegers in doors. I wish you one hell of a grow with much bounty at the end.:cheertwo:

Beautiful Cat ya got there. Don't even try to figure em out. Love the little critters. Miss my three. They are in catnip heaven. Local cat comes by everyday for few strokes. Get my cat fix from her:grinjoint:

Peace Brother! :bong:

Hello buddy, We love our kitty, she a real joy for us here. Keeps us sane through the winter. She's 14 yrs young and just does great if it weren't for the fights with the other cats. She's go suitors up the ying yang! They're always comin around for a piece, only she's not having any of it! Been fixed since 6 months old and defends her territory fiercly. Lately though she's had a couple of these 'get togethers' that haven't gon her way and we've had to patch her up. She's recovering from a wound at the base of her ear on the forehead. She's just about healed and you would never know she's bothered by it. She has a worse time dealing with the alcohol and ointments that we've applied for the last week. Quite a tree climber also. Hunts for birds that way, amazing. Brought a mouse in last night. I was in bed, but heard my wife telling me to keep an eye out for a mouse that the cat brought in.. She's bringing food home to the pride.

The Redwoods

I know what ya mean about the being in the middle of the woods with those tremendous giant trees that just make you feel tiny. The sounds are amazing in the deep woods with the birds chirping, it sounds like your in a giant auditorium. The sound just resonates through the forest. ..............Then I take a toke off the bowl, try to hold it in, but I've taken too large of a hit for my already worn out lungs. No matter how hard I try to stop myself, I can't. Bam! The entire piece and solitude of the forest is shattered. One lung wrenching cough......... :rasta:

The Quake

Terrible time with the people trapped under that stretch in Oakland. I had just come out of the Hayward toll plaza on 92 heading back to the Peninsula and was on the causeway section of the bridge (San Mateo). The road ahead of me started to wiggle like a snake. 4 wheelers in front of me were swerving left and right. My first thought was why are these idiots driving like that. As a truck driver any opportunity to cuss out a 4 wheeler (to myself that is) was precious. About the time they started bumping in to each other is when I realized something was happening to the bridge. The swaying back and forth part was unnerving to say the least!

Winter sucks OMM! This place or for that matter anywhere they got winter sucks! I've had enough and the wife had enough many years ago. I'll try to keep us headed in the right direction, this is a 'temporary delay'.

Peace my friend

Hi Woodsman :)

The Cat..she was just showing you that she's a good provider!:smokin2:

The Cough......better get a vaporizer soon. They help the lung combustion! I just take small hits off my pipe. I just hate to cough for 20 minutes. Red in the face!

Quake....been through to many. I always think the whole state of Kali's going under water!:smokin2:

Winter.....you might want to go to southern Nevada.

Jo can't stand the heat here, wants to move to Redding to live with her son. Unfortunately he's a contractor and business has gone to nothing and to top it off his son and his wife just showed up from Wisconsin with no jobs either.

Temporary ...... yep your just waiting to have one more grow before your gone.:grinjoint::grinjoint::grinjoint:

Outdoor Update

Not the greatest news folks! Big Girl has developed a problem and has declined very rapidly. Her new growth has started getting dry leaf tips and turning brown. I took her outside earlier today and flushed a couple of gallons of water into her hoping to stop whatever is happening. In the process of examining her, I noticed something very unusual. You'll see it in the following photos.

New growth coming right out of her stem an inch and a half from the soil! The spider web I believe is benign. They are floating on the wind all over the place. Please tell me if I'm wrong about the web!. But here I'm having major life or death issues up top and I get this new life down below! LOL . Big Girl is still a real piece of work!

The Runt Update at 13 weeks

Couldn't resist, for the first time ever, I have sampled the Runt. Microwaved a lower bud earlier and I have been stone all day since then! She is an amazing high, better I think than Big Girl. She worked fast and right to the point! Big time stoned. Wandered around in circles on the deck after smoking three hits Must have just mulled around for an hour, thinking about all kinds of things like planning my grow, which pots are available, should I tell my wife that I need to get another sack of Happy Frog! In the end I went inside, got the electric shears out and proceeded to cut my hair off! I had been wanting to cut it for weeks now. Went from medium long to a crew cut in under an hour. Oh ya, took me for ever! When I finished my shower I came out a hungry man, devoured some sloppy joes and a hot dog! Went out on the porch and rolled a joint with what was left of the bud. That was several hours ago and I'm about to drop right now! Great soaring high, different than Big Girls high. I'm happy that she came out like she did.

Now, big question, when should I harvest her? She's about 10% amber now, but not sure if she will get better or not? I wonder though, she has the indica bloodlines in her, but has taken so long to mature, maybe she thinks she's a sativa?

Suggestions on any of the issues here at hand? By all means folks, pipe in and give me your opinions or advise.

i dont know, she sure is trying tho....about harvest....ahhhh, wish i could help, but that is for your taste to pick....maybe take some now, some later...?
esp. if you liked her now....later, lavendar

Woodsman like Lavendar said, if you are satisfied with the sample chop her, if you want it even more powerful, wait. Or do half and half. Choices. Choices! :grinjoint:

:passitleft:Hey Woods, smelled something nice so I came by....:).

I see runt still lives...oh well, I see she is getting company. I heard something about regening, don't think it is the problem, but I hear overwatering becomes a real issue as they almost completely stop drinking. Root rot becomes a real issue...I read too much :reading420magazine:.

Nice cat...I like kitties and that one is a cutie...:grinjoint:

Your backyard looks like an amazing place to grow brother....beautiful there.

:peace: my friend from my little garden.

Hi Lavendar and OMM, Thanks for the advise of taking some of her now and some later. That is a great suggestion. I will want to try to regenerate the Runt obviously as she is a 'champ'. Would you believe that she still has mostly white hairs! She is turning though and more rapidly as the days go by. I mentioned 10% amber on my last post, she was pretty much without the other day! Maybe she will actually make it easy for me and 'amber up very fast in the next few days and then I'll just chop her down to regenerating size. I may leave slightly more vegetation on her than I did with Big Girl. Not much, but more.

I am still monitoring Big Girl (she's outside) and her 'new' growth. The other original growth areas are degrading rapidly though.

We are going to be away on this coming Fri, Sat, Sun and coming home Monday from the Indy 500. Brother's treating us! I'm already planning what to do with the plants before we leave. Like to have the Runt hanging and her stump outside getting sun by then. The other babies will be watered the morning of our departure and will just have to survive the 3 and a half days on their own! Should be alright in a week as even the tiniest of them will have grown slightly. Don't want anything going on in the tent while we're away avoiding any terrible surprises upon returning. like having the place burn down or something! So whether she's completely ambered up or not, she's history this week. Fortunately she's a gen right now so I won't be sacrificing much.

Hey buddy, sorry I haven't been around at your place lately. Just trying to do what I can do!

Sara is a great cat and is like our child!

Our property is very pretty, but we also have every bug known to man residing here! Especially the mesquites! Also there are many trees and as such much shady areas limiting me greatly as far as growing out there. Just a few select spots and they don't get full sun all day. The back porch, or deck is about the best place. We rarely get visiters over so as long as that's the case, it's OK. If we knew we were having guests, I could move the girls to the woods. I got some neem oil for them and they will need it!

I'm going to try to regenerate the Runt and hopefully with better results than I'm having with Big Girl.

hi woods. Just thought I'd stop by before dinner. Runt is still pulling her tricks with you I see. I wonder if she's gonna be a problem for you outside? I guess your fall probably isn't as harsh as it is here though, so maybe you'll be ok. Here she would deffinatly freeze her nugs off. lol

keep up the good work man! ...You said Biggirls regen isn't going so well? any new pics? I hope she gets with it!!

bye fr now,
jason....

gotta go watch the finale of LOST. Finally I'll get some closure on that damned show. lol

Hey Jason, your right about the Runt. I'm good here to about mid Oct. I've had a crop go into the beginning of Nov. before and I had to bring it in all the time for the last couple of weeks. The Runt could be a problem if she is truly a late bloomer. Part of the problem with here stems from her late sexing. Took more than two weeks into 12/12 before she showed it. She is also in the smallest pot, who knows? I think she's worth a shot though and if I've got to bring her in to finish so be it. In meaning in the house by the back window.

Got some pics that I just posted yesterday showing Big Girl's demise, Today they're worse. Still going to let her go to see if that tiny growth that shot right out of her trunk developed into something. Check the pics and you'll see what I mean.

Have fun with "Lost"!

Hey Woodsman The Indy? You lucky dog:cheertwo:
Hope you get high up seats so you can see it all. Would love to be there too!
It will be a nice break for you and the wife.:)

Sounds like you've got it planned out well for the girls. Should be no problem for them, besides Sara will be on the look out for you. :cheertwo:

I'm sending good grow vibes for both regeneration girls. :grinjoint:

Have a good time! :cheertwo:

lol, I can't believe I missed your post man. I must have had too much Cindy and been a page back. lol Thats funny stuff about you wandering around and chowing down on the junk food. I can just picture you hovering over the stove while your cooking........Stoned as hell...... Good stuff.

I was checking out the Biggirl Regen. She's Definatly not looking soo great. I have a couple questions.
First, did you flush, then scale back the nutrients mix ratio? When they regenerate (here anyways) I find it helpfull to flush well, and start with a dilute nutrient mix.) It's like they go back to seedling/clone concentrations for a bit. If your watering in high concentrations that might be contributing to the burning of the new growth.
Second, Do you allow for the soil to dry out quite a bit before re-watering? Although the root system is large, without alot of above ground growth the regenerating plant will more than likely drink a hell of alot less water. that in combination with not letting the soil dry out will greatly increase the risk of infection of the root zone by pathogens.

....I'm just throwing out some food for thought. Sloppy Joes if you will. lol But If I was to pick a scenario out of a hat I'd say that she has a MACRO nutrient toxicity and a calcium deficiency. Maybe pH inballance related? Hmmm....I think Calmag & pH'd water would be a good thing for a couple days, but it's just a guess. I'll Will her back for you!

sorry I missed your post man. medication. What can ya do?
Good luck with Biggirl.

Hey buddy, Looking forward to the race and the extended stay, leaving Fri morning and leaving Indianapolis Monday morning. My sister in law got the tickets through her work (nice job huh) and she and my bro are putting us up in a hotel for the weekend to boot! Like a mini vacation for us. We do have concerns about Sara though. She is an indoor/outdoor cat and can get in the house through a hole in the door (just for her). I mentioned the fight she was in last week, well we had found the one wound and that is healed now, but yesterday we found an abscess nearby, got a red scab the size of a dime and it's swollen underneath. We've got an appointment with the Vet later this afternoon so we'll know better later. What worries us is that we'll be gone this weekend and she'll be alone. We've done this before with her and she's fine. We leave her plenty of food and water (a lot of water). We'll see what the Vet says about her care. We've got only three full days before we leave. She would much prefer remaining at home than staying at the Vet's and I'm sure we couldn't afford it anyway!. Oh well just another worry for us while we're gone. She will be on our minds, that's for sure.

Hey I'm glad Cindy is working for you! Great advise concerning the Regen. It very well could have been an imbalance or over watering. I did give her a very small dose of emulsion to get her to revert to veg and that seemed to work for a time until the latest 'illness'. I'm not as worried about her now with the Runt being so great. I'll learn from this experience and try to correct it for the Runt's turn. I'll leave a little more 'meat' on the Runt than I did for Big Girl so I'll have a few more growth areas. Also imperative that I transplant her to a larger pot. Not sure if I should do this before she shows new growth or after. I did not re-pot Big Girl. The Runt is in a smaller pot than Big Girl also and is most likely close to being root bound. Thanks Jason for your very good advise with the Cal mag. I'll be doing a better job of monitoring the pH on the Runt than I did on Big Girl.

Instead of re-potting into a larger pot you could also take her out of the pot and do a bonsai style root prune, clean out and disinfect her current pot and re-pot her back into there. when the gardeners re-pot a bonsai it's already very rootbound, and some gardeners will trim the rootball back by about 1/4 of total size or 1/2, and then repot. I'f found this to be a neat trick when I'm out of extra pots for moms, and don't feel like running to the Nursery.

That might help some. again, I'm just throwing out ideas, but better I say it and you already know it, than not say it at all when you might need it. lol

I'm glad the runt is turning out so good for ya, sometimes good weed is like good wine........well aged. (wow, I dunno were that came from, but it sounds good, so WOOHOO!!)

bye for now man. Smoke one for me!! :ganjamon:

Hey buddy I hear ya, in a situation like I have in hindsight it would have been to my advantage. Would have been an easier job of saving some of the new growth after noticing the problem when it started. I will be leaving slightly more on the Runt when it's her turn. Not a whole lot more, but some. I think that the weather issues I encountered the last couple of weeks had a lot to do with the process, not with any deficiencies that might have occurred, but with the overall development. Putting her outside then bringing her in to the artificial light, not re-potting or as the guys mentioned, pruning of the roots etc. It was working fine until 'something' happened. I wasn't monitoring the pH very well on her and that could or did lead to the problem.

I also think a root prune is in order if that was not done when you repotted.

Hey guys, I've never done it, but I may try it this time. do I just take the scissors to it like making it flat along the bottom?
Took a bud off the Runt yesterday and micro'd a tiny piece which did me very well last night! The rest of the bud is hanging right now, about a 12 gram piece (wet).

Pics coming up!
