Just tested it Lion and it works much easier (less confusing) than Picasa!

The pics turned out great.

My buddy told me that he keeps taking pictures. He never knows which one will be THE one, so he takes lots and dumps most of them.

Exactly, digital pics are cheap! Take a bunch.
I always have my camera set to the highest resolution possibly, mine takes a 12 megapixel shot. I set my camera on macro, that way I can get real close, like 6" from the bud. Then I set the flash to be on, it really lights up the trichs.
Then, after loading the pics on the computer, I use a Mac, I will crop the photo to really zoom into the bud.
But definitely take a lot of pics, dump the ones you don't want.

Hey woodsy Congrats on the M.O.M my man it's well deserved and unlike the elections looks like my vote went were i wanted it haha sorry i haven't been round this way in a lil been busy busy with a lot of grow business but that OMM sure is a kind fella ain't he I'm stoked to get down to hawaii i'm doin my best to get the trip together and my lady can be our chaperone as she doesn't smoke and shes extremely hard headed haha keep us boys in line yah know the girls look great though man that new cam sure does do em some justice those hairs and trichs look tasty great job woodsy and happy early 420
lol I actually do some web design so do have some fancy software here but sometimes the old classics that do it the simplest way are still the best and thought it be something Woodsman likely to have and be able to use with a couple o clicks.

congrats woods,
pics were fine, just practice and more practice makes perfect....i could see the tri's on the girls, they look great....i have macro and super macro, and only the hubby uses it....i use the microscope...lavendar....
put up some more pics this a.m., but no close ups yet...last yr. we went to a 420 party...first time in yrs, got to judge some kick a.. smoke, and edibles ect..even one raspberry tincture (my fav. along with hemp ice cream)...this yr. we declined to do it....but we left early too....let the youngers finish out the night....great food also...was fun trying all the smoke, hard to judge it tho...afgooie won...next yr, i would like to enter one, but it takes 2-3 oz. to enter, and we didnt have it...maybe next yr....to get that much to give away, you nearly have to grow some plants just for that...extra...lavendar

If it makes you feel any better, I am doing the same thing with my camera right now. I'm trying all the setting and so. I figure if I just do them over and over, I'll finally be able to do what I to quickly.......I hope!

Wow I have so many posts to catch up on! So first off I'd like to thank all those wishing me congratulations on the MOM. It is a wonderful feeling to have the respect of my fellow 420 peers and especially to those of you that I have got to know so well these last 4 and a half months (seems like a lot longer). It is a pleasure and an honor being able to spend time with you all . It's like having tens and tens, if not hundreds of new friends! Thank you!
A happy 420 to all of you out there in this big world of ours! May this coming year bring much happiness to all our lives and better health to those of us that need it! Hopefully this year more of us will live in places that have legalized these wonderful herbs we all love and grow.

Not old, we just take more time to focus! I just need something very simple to use.
Frying, what you said there about cropping caught my attention. I do that to get out the unnecessary parts of the shot and have used it to make the pic acceptable to 420 if it was too large (not too often with my old camera) Here's the question. If the original pic is let's say just over 4MB and I've taken a wider than what I need photo, can I crop it down to the the actual target I intended and get it to under 1mb? In other words, if I want to take a pic of the top of a certain bud, I take a pic of a much larger area and then crop it to just that 'bud'? Can I do this without resizing with a program? Obviously If I crop too much I will have a lower resolution when I post than I wish. Right?
Thanks for the nice words CO! your lady sounds sweet, If I was you, I wouldn't do anything to screw it up. So when you guys want to get naughty make sure she's asleep first and maybe lock the door! Later on wipe all grins off your face and pretend that you are completely innocent of any foul deeds. It is not possible to 'walk' home from Hawaii! But as you've most likely slept in a Holiday Inn before, you would know this.

Thanks to all of you MC! Actually the way I have my pages set up I'm on like page 74, but everyone has there pages set up differently! The bad thing about having such a long journal is that for someone new it is just too long to go and read the whole thing! Some of you have done this and I think that that is amazing!
M'Lady Lavendar I really dig your kind words and I will read the instructions and practice like you say. Those parties must be something else! The only thing I can imagine like that from my own past would be like a concert where at least in my day, everyone was smoking and passing their sh*t all around and having a great time.

You bet I like it and my wife already said she would like to trade me with her little camera! I told here that it is ours and if she needs it she can use it anytime (earning points) Ya the manual looks daunting and I'm sure half of it I won't understand, but I could always ask you folks if I've got questions.

The dang thing is still hangin in there and I have to be careful it doesn't progress into something worse. I've had pneumonia a couple of times in the last few years. Don't want that again, ever! So far just upper resp. only but just can't seem to beat it!

Yes, you could chop 3/4 of the pic out and have a 1 meg pic left. But that would be pretty hit and miss. For the most part when I'm cropping is really just to eliminate parts of the pic I don't want to see. Then when I export the pic I just tell iPhoto to give me a pic no larger than 800x600 pixels. These Macs are pretty easy to use, there aren't too many steps involved. But it keeps me from helping you guys very much since I don't deal with the same software.
One bonus of cropping is that it works like a digital zoom, you can get really close in on your buds. One trick to taking the photo is to use the macro setting and set turn the flash on so it shoots on every pic you take. You can get really close to the plant and the flash really makes those trichs shine!
But check out the mods sigs for a link to the photo resizing thread they have on the site here. I believe they have a link to free re-sizing software you can download. It seems to me some of the other Deep Water Culture are using it and it works pretty good for them.
