You're right woods, all projects require the proper amount of "safety breaks". It's not an OSHA mandate but what do they know?? I prefer to rise above their standards, safety break every hour until you move on to the victory bowl to celebrate the conclusion of the project. Only problem is, too many safety breaks and not enough victory bowls! :peace:
 
Hey, Woodsman! Tell your wife i would like to extend and invitation to look at the links on the last few posts in my Satori grow - i find as i try to collect signatures that people don't know what to think because the subject has been taboo, so there has not been any debate or discussion. So i wrote up a sheet with links to articles i think are significant. Invite her to comment on that thread! thanks!
 
PS, re Happy Frog - it's not supposed to be as 'hot' as Ocean Floor, and it has micorrhyzae! Awesome stuff, i'm sure! I have always used it and put it out in the garden after a chop. in fact, i filled in a hole where i tore out a useless bush (prime sunny spot for veg garden) and the snapping turtles went nuts flippering around in it making nests to lay eggs. So that is some cosmic dirt!

That's good! When I was just starting out, I had a job with a Carpenter. Between him, two other guys and myself, it was no wonder he went belly up, not because he didn't do good work, just the other two guys were drinkers and wouldn't show up half the time! We'd be waiting around in his shop for about an hour, then he'd pull a joint out and we'd get high, like 7am, then he'd call it a day.

Great work your doing for the Cause! I don't think she'd be interested, she's like an ex cig smoker and just hates anything about 'our' culture. I'll ask her though! .

I really like the stuff. The only place that carries FF products around here, has been out of FFOF the last two times I've been there, so I went with Happy Frog. It's very nice to work with. Wish it were cheaper!

great lookin' pipe....wow, that was a mean thing to say to you....that was how i met hubby, he carves alot of pipes....used to do it at work, we can be in the middle of no where, break a pipe, and he can make one...now I THINK PIPE INVENTION.. should be an olympic event...great skill you have woods...

Thank you lavendar, I put love into each one. Oh, I've been busy lately. I've made a few pipes in the last couple of days. Just a dremmel tool, a drill and sandpaper. Oh ya, hickory branches, Thank goodness I did some tree thinning last year and I have a 'stock' of them. Here's some pics.

Hey guys thanks for the reps! And thank you for your interest. Not sure what I should do. My wife thinks I should sell them on eBay. I don't know the policy for this site when selling homemade items, but as you all know, I am unemployed at this time and the thought of a few extra dollars is not far from my mind! I guess I intend to sell them (I'm making more), but probably could not afford the advertising fees and wouldn't want to violate any rules with 420Mag. I would love to let you all have first shot at them. I guess there's not anything wrong with 'private' discussions. You are welcome to PM me if you like and we could discuss it. I don't want to violate any rules. So I won't promote or discuss the 'sales' on the thread, Just in theory perhaps!

The hickory smokes very smooth and has a very light enjoyable taste. Not enough to take away from the flavor of my smoke at all, but just a nice light presence of 'hickory' flavor (not smoked hickory flavor at all)! I was very happy with it. Mine built up a (whats the word) nice 'patina' inside the bowl after just a few loads. I'm referring to the layer in a tobacco pipe bowl that builds up and prevents any burning of the wood. Same thing with pot pipes. The one I've smoked is not so thin walled and is not 'hot' when held, a little warm but that's normal. The latest creations have a nice elongated bowl and you would hold it lower down where the wood is solid all the way through. No warmth at all there.

The stem is the hardest part. I have none of the amenities that you would expect. I sit on the front porch (secluded) with my dremmel tool and cheap Black and Decker drill and do it in my lap. I've got a fan blowing on me to keep me nice and cool in the shade.

The stem is make from a branch of hickory that fit's my criteria (straight and of a certain length) I strip the bark form it and then hold it in my hands and drill from either side. I'm getting better at eyeballing it now, but I've had many that I've ruined. The bowl is cut (small hand saw) from a dried hickory branch at certain angles and then worked with a dremmel and drill. No drill press or workbench, let alone a work shed or garage! I've still got all my fingers also! I can make one in a couple of hours, but I tend to embellish it and then it takes a little longer, I suppose that I could take less time if I concentrated on it as though I'm at a job! I enjoy working with my hands though and am in no hurry to finish. I've worked on that 'white one' for hours until I got it the way I wanted it.
 
Very nice. I need one. Your great at that man. you should definatly sell them on ebay, and maybe here too. I have a feeling that the 420 points are for a 420 atore they may be working on........wouldn't that be great timing???

Hi Jason, I just answered your PM. I also just sent a PM to Soniq420 and asked him to take a look over here to make sure I don't violate any site rules and to give me advise or ideas as far as the site goes. I know the site has a classified section, but it is very 'empty' of ads and I don't know if it's appropriate anyway. As you all know by now, both the wife and I are out of work for the first time in our lives (32 years for me) and a tiny business like this would help.

Yessir. I love to widdle, Make a new walkingstick from deadwood everywere I go camping. Go check out the old walkingsticks to flashback on the trip. I know it sounds old skool, but I'm only 31 and have a collection already. My latest was the 'Deathstick' looked like a Final fantasy wizard staff until my bro used it as a fire poker for the whole night. My stoned ass never even noticed until the next morning. Had to scrap that one. and it was a good one . lool
