Wonder Woman - Short Rider First Grow

Re: Wonder Woman, Short Rider BPN First Grow

Those short riders are looking great man, wow that's a big difference in 10 days. I'm looking on dr chronic seeds at the moment for some auto flowering girls to go outside for this year.

I'm thinking about throwing the super slow one outside soon. The one I didnt take a picture of. Just hope the pup doesnt eat it.

Re: Wonder Woman, Short Rider BPN First Grow

Even tho pots are handy if you need to move them they just don't compare to putting them in the ground where they thrive. I like to buy a bag of soil with slow release ferts but not too strong, then I dig a trench in the ground, after that I get my homemade compost(brilliant stuff) and mix it with half the bag of soil and put that down as my bottom layer , then I put the rest of the soil on top as my top layer and this way the seedlings don't burn in the compost but when they become more established they have a nice supply of compost rich soil.

Re: Wonder Woman, Short Rider BPN First Grow

Puff is thinking about ditching the hydro....for a packed tent full of hempy buckets,,,,makes more sense to keep the 12/12 rolling all the time with a perpetual grow.

Want to try my hydro setup but dont feel like spending the 3 bills on a chiller nor do I feel like adding to the electricity,,,,,,,if I dont have the chiller I feel like I would be half assing it. Temps are fine now but their borderline with everything running in that room.

Re: Wonder Woman, Short Rider BPN First Grow

Do ya think you will pick up alot of heat from the tent? Just a thought.... Would a a radiator or heater core with an electric fan be an alternative to the chiller? I have seen some interesting heat exchange items. I saw a copper tube used on a drain leaving a home with the incoming water line wrapped around the drain. When hot water leaves, it warms the incoming water recovering some heat energy.

I have fans blowing on the res , but you probably saw that. Res was staying at 65f when I first did it but now cant get it lower then 70f, which would probably be all right if it stayed there. I thought about the radiator idea you mentioned and have seen copper ones and even stainless. My thoughts are......I dont want to waste any more money on diy and have it not work, so if I was going to do anything it would be to purchase a chiller which I know would work.

The setup I have now is plan "C". Plan "A"-- I first built a diy 20 site aero unit with 4 inch pipe. Took up most of the room, so after it was all finished, I scrapped it. Plan "B"-- Then I built the same setup I have now but tried to go on the cheap side. I used round buckets and some gaskets and pvc to connect. Fought with leaks because I didnt buy the uniseals or bulk head fittings. I know better then to try stuff on the cheap side....So I chalk that setup up to having a stoner moment.

Now this setup works great but I'm thinking the hempy route is more desirable to me. I can fit way more plants in the tent and keep rotating them in and out of harvest. Not have to worry about res temps or res change outs once every 2 weeks.

I could probably do something similar with the setup I have now but it would be only 6 plants and I would have to wait till the 6 were done before I could add more. Which defeats the purpose of having a perpetual grow.

Anyways here's a pic of my cloner. Clones dont look very good but they survived. Next time I will change out the water more often and always change it with plain old tap water instead of the RO. Started having better results with the tap PH'd to 5.8. My thinking is because of the chlorine, it kept the roots from mucking up so much, kept the environment more sterile.
Once I did see root nubs on the stalk I added a seedling nute mix to the bucket,,,,the roots took off like my dog chasing the neighbors cat.

Re: Wonder Woman, Short Rider BPN First Grow

Hey puffy those clones look great, lots of nice white roots. Sad to hear your scrapping the hydro but I suppose it's a lot less hassle and work and more time for medicating :), I even bought a 6 bucket dwc system for my first grow ever but I failed and since have moved to a smaller house so I never broke them in but plan to do it again when I have more space. I'm following alot of the hempy grows and it's a great system. I have 3 bags of Cana coco+ here and I'm dying to use the stuff. What medium do you plan on using buddy?

Honestly,,,,I'm so up in the air right now with the amount of projects I have planned I couldnt tell ya whether I'm coming or going, now I'm thinking stick with the original plan, DWC. Might be time for a vacation or in your terms a holiday :)

Maybe try and go cave diving in France, have family there and they told me they would pick up the tab if I came.

I kno what you mean bud, I'm planning on going to the Dam again in July. I was in Paris and Marseille for a week when I was traveling around Europe, beautiful country. There are alot of Irish surnames that originate from Normandy eg. Fitzgerald or De Burgh. Nice that your sticking with the hydro after all, wanna see how the Ww does in hydro compared to soil.

So tell me more about this perpetual grow. I haven't heard anything about it at all.
