Winter Outdoor Grow 2009/2010

blacken, all the research that I have done in books, internet, a couple of vids and of course this site. I have never seen or heard of anything like you have described above, so all that is new to me. A little suspicious that all the research done that I have never once come across any information about visually being able to tell the difference between male and female seeds. Not that I don't believe you but if this was a true science than there would be people doing it all over the place and am sure I would have heard of it before now. I will keep my mind open on this one and do a lot more research. May even try a little test with 10 seeds and see how it works out. Thanks for the post, gave me something else to try out...

Plant update 11_13_09

Plants are coming along nicely, Just topped the two papaya's and the myster1 and they have bounced back with some nice new growth. Still just feeding with water and every other feeding of compost / worm casting tea. I had to spray the plants again cause these stupid white flies won't go away. I think I caught it a little sooner this time cause there were only a few so we will see how that goes.

Still am putting them outside from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They seem to love the sun. Then I put them inside under the light from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and the lights go out from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. They seem to be doing ok with this schedule so we will see how it goes.

I also added one of the Lemon Bubble Hazes to the mix. I left it under the light I have for the clones a little too long and it stretched a bit but I think it will be OK.

Clones from the Full Moon, Papaya and the Mystery are hanging in there. They where the tops I took from them. I am not getting much new growth on any of them but thats my luck with cloning and its still early. I will let them go and hope for a good outcome.

Anyway take a look..

sonzor congrats on your first born,heheh. I hope you're a proud papa.:nicethread:

Durban poison 1 looks like it can't wait to get THICK. and the topping is working out great.

You've got it well in hand my friend.

SO I want to run something by you and see what you think.
I was in a journal where the discussion turned to whiteflies and tomato plants. It seems that whiteflies really like tomatoes, heheh. So do you think it would be helpful to try a couple of sacrificial tomato plants to attract the whiteflies. Then you could hit them on the tomatoes with the heaviest treatment you've got without doing it to your mj. I have no outdoor experience so I dunno if the sacrifical plants would just draw even more whiteflies or actually give you an edge.
The tomatoes wouldn't necessarily be for consumption.

Congratz on ur grow bro. full moon 1 & 2 were both topped right? they are spreading out nicely. I can't wait for spring and summer to return. There is no Grow Light on the market better than the SUN, and that dont cost a dime, but you need to respect it.

My 1st grow

Looks great so far Sonzor, hope you get them bugs under control, maybe try some of those sticky traps around the plants too. Looking forward to some more updates, take it easy and good luck.

Thanks siscokid I will put some sticky traps up for sure. Thanks for stopping and and you comments.

Its kind of funny you mention tomatoes. I grew about 12 tomato plants over the summer and did not get one tomato. Worms went crazy and I never did get them under control. I never did see one white fly on any of them. So I am not sure if they just like the MJ better or the white flies might just like the warm inside and thats where they breed. That is probably the case. I will go out and look at my tomato plants that I have left and look for the flies. Also I have Avocado trees going and the white flies love those. I think thats where it all started. Anyway thanks so much for stopping in and you comments are always appreciated..

My 1st grow

Thanks MI-grower, Yes both Full Moons where topped as well as the 2 Papaya's and the Mystery. Its pretty amazing how much they fill in after the topping. You cant even see any stem on the Full Moon's anymore. Cant wait to see how they look when they get a little bigger. Thanks so much for the comments and stopping in...

Hi Buddy,
Looking good so far. Nice looking plants:grinjoint:
I have a few Papaya seeds, so I'll be interested in watching them.
Off to a good start:cheertwo:

Thanks OldMedMan, I grew Papaya my last grow and the seem to be a pretty hardy plant and grow some really thick colas also. Thanks for stopping in and you comments..

oh well it was a thought. Maybe the whiteflies only like tomatoes when there's no mj around. nasty little critters at least they have good taste.

Thanks siscokid, your presence is much appreciated..

Was a good one. There may be many factors why the white flies are not attacking my tomatoes. They may attack the tomato plants if I put them in with the MJ plants. My tomatoes are in a different part of the garden with different soil and are fed different food. So that may be one factor, or maybe they just have not found them yet, who nows. If I had a little more room in the indoor I would give it a try. At this point I just sprayed the pants and and sprayed all the walls in the indoor and washed them down. I hope that takes card of the issues. Or at the very least slow it down. Thanks so much for stopping by and you comments and solutions are a values addition to the journal. Thanks again...

Hey Sonzor! Thanks for commenting in my thread, now I've read through this journal of yours and I'm impressed. Looking forward to reading the older one too. I liked the pics of the seeds in the buds, very nice photography, and of course I loved the chocolates. Have you still been enjoying those?

+reps for it all and I'm smoking the next bowl for you! ;)

Nice pile of seeds sonzor!

good job!

+rep

Thanks SS for the reps and you stopping in and your comments are always appreciated.

Thanks and welcome greenblood. No thanks required. Thats what I enjoy doing is stopping by journals and gosh how much you can learn just by snooping around and watching and reading others. About the chocolates, yes still enjoying them. I think I will always have some chocolates on hand at all times they are so easy and love the affects of eating them. Not too much just the correct amount to just relax and enjoy. Thanks again for stopping in..

Man, I've GOT to try the chocolate recipe... looking forward to the rest of your grow too!

Once you go chocolate you never go back. I love the stuff, enjoy much more than smoking. At least as a before bedtime treat. Thanks for stopping in and your comments...

Plant update 11-20-09

Plants seem to growing fine, have not seen a bug this week so that is always a good sign. The Full Moon, Papaya and the Mystery one really seem to be taking off. At this rate I think I can at the very least get the Full Moon in the ground next week. Take a look.

Sorry the pics are not that hot. Have had the flew for the last week and I took them really quickly so I could go lay back down.

Thats all for now, again sorry about the pics. I am hoping for another 6 to 12 inches of growth in the next week so I will have my fingers crossed.

I am also going to try something a little different with the plants this time once they go in the ground. The bottom 3 quarters of soil are going to have lots of slow release flowering nutes to see how they bud on there own. They will still get the teas every other watering I just want to see how this technique works. I will go further into the ingredients next post or when I am ready to put them in the ground.

All you comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Hey sonzor looks like you've got things worked out nicely. You're getting good growth on everything. The Papaya and Full Moon are looking great. Even the Lemon bubble haze is getting extra leaf sets. Too bad about the stretch it picked up early but I'm sure it'll grow through that pretty quickly. :goodjob:
I think your idea to use slow release nutes at depth is a good one. By the time your plants get roots that deep the nutes should be starting to do their thing.
Good job on defeating the critters , may your plants be crittter free from here to eternity.
Take of yourself, that flu can drag on. Knock on wood I've been free of it so far. :nicethread:
