Who Wants To Be An Official Sponsored 420 Magazine Grow Journalist?

I feel like my original post wasn’t adequate after reading the requirements and it will not let me edit the original so I will make another. I have yet to create any journals so I don’t have the “resume” to prove I would be a good journalist. What I am equipped with is 3 grow tents and a 20x20 room, lots of lights, and all the equipment necessary to have them all dialed in. I plan on starting journals anyway so this would just be an amazing opportunity to showcase our sponsors equipment and strains. Good luck to everyone, very exciting!

I would to be a journalist. I am the head grower at a rec grow and have a 15 plant medical limit, have a lot of experience and had great success but I always still strive to learn. I like to try my best at every I do. The industry is always improving and new exciting products are always coming out, the difference from the ufo leds I used in 2011 are way different from the budget leds I use now.
I feel like people need to be aware of those sort of improvements that are being made, maybe if you tried something in the past that didn’t work there is something that will work the way it’s supposed to now

I want to be selected and also think I will be a good fit for a journalist because of my love for growing cannabis. I just got my medical card to start growing from home again and bought a good camera just so I can do grow journal videos, strain reviews, and product reviews. Being a journalist with 420 mag would make it a lot easier for this to be a reality for me.

Would also be a great fit for this as well
Always posting good content and live feeds and getting groups of people together.

Seeing this post means I’ve should’ve started a long time ago. I will get started and if I’m not selected now, maybe someday later on down the road it could be a possibility.

Thank you

I would love to part of a sponsored grow,
I have my current grow close to harvest, I grew it entirely under a 3 year old Mars Hydro 300W (128 true) blurple light,
I have gotten good results in my opinion currently from this small light, and I plan on upgrading for my next grow which would be a perfect time to have a sponsored light thrown in the tent, My current grow is linked below please feel free to peak around and sit in as were very close to harvest and have a really nice crew along for the ride!!
As for why I deserve to be part of a sponsored grow - I totally am undeserving in terms of pure skill, as I'm lacking in that department only one plant down the line, but that also can be shown as a positive for a sponsored light because it will showcase what it truly can do in a noobs hand,
As for others deserving of the opportunity of growing for a sponsored grow, I'd have to recommend the entire crew that's helped me since day one! @Emilya @Backlipslide @stoneotter
@AngryBird and many more these folks are excellent growers and I'm sure they'd showcase these lights/goodies on a larger scale and much more beautifully than I could.

Good luck on your harvests everyone, happy growing!

Journalist

I’ll throw my name into the mix, some know me and some don’t. I have a pretty good setup with sponsor equipment(2 8x8 rooms) and was planning on going perpetual after this seed run. Im on the forum more often than not. More importantly I love gardening, nothing is more therapeutic than being in your grow space. I have ambitions of adding a seedling room and a drying room to my area in the next little while. I haven’t been here too long but I do have a good following on other platforms which would broaden the horizon for more potential members and reach more people. I love being apart of this community and preach this site locally to growers I personally know.

Feel free to take a look at my current journal in my signature

“Planet Express- The Great Escape”

That's fairly accurate, however, just to be clear, I personally was "chosen" (invited) BEFORE this thread was posted. I was told at least one other member was also asked and agreed to the position AFTER this thread was posted. I don't know how many more may have been asked, how many agreed, and/or how many more they may still need. I do imagine, though, when the need arises, they will check this thread! ;)

As a matter of fact, just finished making a list of 36 candidates, to get this moving forward once and for all.

I'd like to post the potential candidates in a public poll asking everyone to vote, giving us the public's perspective, but leaving the actual decision making up to us. However, I struggle with the fact that some people who don't get a lot of votes and/or chosen by us no matter of the public votes, could get offended. We'd really love to have everyone's perspectives without hurting anyone's feelings, to help us make the best possible decisions.

Once that is done, we'll have a staff meeting and discuss the candidate's journals, reviews and member votes. We will then vote ourselves, to make our final selections.

What do you guys and gals think, would that work for you or should we just let staff choose? :thanks:

:Namaste:

I think it's a good idea. It allows you to see who the members trust and at the same time gives you the flexibility to vet them for verification. It's never easy one way or the other.

@420 that is a tough one. I’d hate to see it become a popularity contest. At the same time though that’s kinda what you need to help test and promote the sponsors products. Not to mention some journals start off “shaky” and pick up pace throughout. It’s definitely a tough decision, I’m sure you guys will make right one.

*Tosses name into the hat*
If you can produce semi-daily updates with photos and/or videos & commentary, this may be for you.
This should not be an issue, I update my main journal on a near daily basis, sometimes more frequently. Starting in September I will start a new, single journal on all my growings-on at that time I will have (3) 4.5’x4.5’ tents indoors, a mother’s room, a nursery, and an outdoor grow happening. It will be easier to update a single journal vs multiple (probably be easier to not grow as much but that’s a ridiculous notion to have).
Please link us to your best grow journals; showcasing your photographic, video & commentary skills.
The two grow journals I have are not the best at showcasing what I can do, they are my firsts. Looking at my Phantom’s RDWC Cherry Cookies Grow Journal you can see how I’ve progressed from the start until now, in just a few months. This is a trend that will continue in these grows and future ones, better photographs, daily write ups, advice, etc. I started as a novice in indoor and hydroponic growing, never having done either before. I’d like to say I have a firm grasp on what I’m doing because of the hundreds of hours I spent researching before ever getting my feet wet. I tend to take calculated moves, no 3P’s here. I’m currently doing research on one of our sponsors nutrients and a new grow style for this fall which should be very exciting. With all the knowledge I have acquired from my never ending thirst to learn, I make my best attempt to pass along this information, always trying to follow the 4 C’s that I learned from my line of work: clear, concise, correct & complete, when giving advice or posting about my grow.
Why do you want to be, and why do you think you should be, one of the chosen ones?
Who doesn’t want to try out all the products available for our grows and be able to find out what they can do with little to no financial risk? Me! On top of that I’d really lIke to show off what the average Joe/Jo, like many of the members here, can do with these products. It’s great to watch to the experts around here do it but sometimes you need to struggle/fail to see what the products are really capable of doing, or how difficult or finicky they might be for the average person to use, not someone who’s been growing for decades and can smell a deficiency coming on with just a whiff of the exhaust vent. *sniffs* “Smells like calcium with a touch of light stress, also there is 5 weeks, 2 days, 10 hours, 13 minutes, and exactly 44 seconds remaining until peak harvest.” Ok Rain Man we get it, you’re freaky good at what you do but how about the people who are not? You see it in a lot of grows where people have been doing it so long and just know what to do when and then new growers try to emulate it, fail, and get really frustrated or quit growing all together. Some even give the impression that you need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to be able to get results, shying away many growers or making them feel inadequate with the equipment they already have purchased.
Who else do you think may be worthy of this position and why?
Going through everyone that has also thrown their name into the ring, I can’t see anyone whom I wouldn’t be considered a great candidate for journalist. There are some great members that haven’t done so yet but I’d rather not call on them because maybe they have their reasons not to that I’m unaware of: limited space, time, etc.

We are aware of the popularity contest mentality and it does exist to a certain level, however it would make no difference to us, because those circles are much smaller than the wider audience we cater to. This is precisely why we can't take public poll as the final selections, however it would be great to see the feedback and votes to help us make our decisions.

There's a staff member in almost every journal I've peaked into I think it should be up to y'all to decide on who gets sponsored, I think y'all do a pretty damn good job runnin the site and can handle deciding on sponsors, I agree it will probably be a popularity contest if you do a poll but you could always get your for sure candidates lock them babies in and than do a poll for the remainder of the spots, I think we're all adult enough to not get too butt hurt for not being chosen, We're all hopefully growing enough weed to keep our egos at Bay :Namaste::Namaste::rofl:

Thank you for your feedback.

With all due respect, those are some great assumptions, and I really wish you were right :Namaste:

However, I struggle with the fact that some people who don't get a lot of votes and/or chosen by us no matter of the public votes, could get offended.

Well, in that case, you could just tell them to go— err... Sorry, I've just been reading about how yet another company is fighting to get on the "look, we're absolutely not offending the easily offended now!!!" bandwagon, even though its axles are bowed almost to the ground, the poor pony trying to pull the thing looks like it'll expire at any moment and those tremors we're feeling aren't earthquakes... they're the spirits of this country's founding fathers (and mothers) exploding in frustration.

How to put this in P"C" language?

Hmm... No - I'd be here all day trying to figure that out. Just slip this into the list of qualifications: Prospective candidate does NOT get their panties in a wad over the same kind of stupid sh!t that they'd tell their seven-year old to stop doing because he/she is no longer six.

I know that nothing like that need be included in any kind of official rules in most countries, in most times, in most... universes  . But, since the thought clearly concerns you, add it in. Then when if someone who tanks in a poll starts acting like they've just had a '67 Chrysler Newport convertible driven through their rectum with the top stuck hallway open, you can simply point to that little proviso. As a matter of fact, it might be useful if your top two or three candidates ended up getting skunked, lol. Then, if one gets mad, takes their ball, and goes home... And the second begins sniping at everyone... But the third thinks, "Oh, well. Maybe if I keep on trying to be a contributing member, I'll do better next time" - and you've got your... whatever it was that you were looking for (I forget ;) ).

We are currently seeking product reviewers to test and showcase our sponsor's LED lights, nutrients, seeds & miscellaneous grow supplies. Please tag your friends, share this and spread the word.

Raising my hand! But navigating this site has been baffling to me. Send search dogs if I’m not back in a week to shamelessly plug my idea for outdoor next year while in the throws of this year. Kids safe, mostly.

I would love to be a part of ...
I have made one journal this far, on this forum.
To test equipment for the sake of the 420 lifestyles and getting connected to natural processes, what more could you want?
I have only been growing a short time but I love to educate myself where info is available.
Please consider me for testing and promotion of equipment.
My current grow is O.G kush-check
I am using ff ocean forest soil to start my plants then perm. In an premixed organic compost soil.
Using the FF trip ; G.B ,TIGER,BIG
And I am having good results.
Today is my third week of flower .
Entering into fourth week!

Agrobrite 125w-200w compact fluorescent.120v e39base.
I have yet to use it because I have to get what I need one piece at a time.
Times are tough..
However I am very eager to get it all and start an indoor grow as well as outdoor
Cultivation to me is a lifestyle
"You get out of something what you put in." You may think that's toche but it's exactly true.Relating to this subject; The more you research, questions you ask, hands on trial and error- the better you will become.

I love this particular forum, there's a lot of talented growers here
And they are here to help you, guide you, depart with sage advise as they will reach back out if you ask your questions in the proper thread.
Consider me to be a sponsor.
I have the time,as i work from home.
To be able to use good equipment and write product reviews would be something I would not only be able to handle ,I would love every second of it.
Thanks for the opportunity to apply, I guess that's what I'm doing....
