Overall - White widow remains one of my top 10 strains. The smell was very skunky yet almost with a hint of fruity. The leaves were covered in trichomes. The nugs were slightly fluffy. The smoke was very smooth. The taste was "clean", as in it it did not taste bad, but was not full of flavor. Overall I'd rate the smoke 8 out of 10. The high itself is immediate. It hits you pretty hard all over your body and head. It's a major couch lock high.

I started a DWC White Widow grow in a 4x4 tent last week. The seedlings are looking great so far. Based on your review, it is going to be a good choice.
 
I wonder if White Widow still tastes the same as it did in the late 1980s? I encountered it in Amsterdam, but didn't manage to get hold of it at home, prohibition era still :/ I will grow it soon as I have some seeds. I wonder whose strains would be closest to the old-school version.
 
I grew some from WS Xpress they grew nice and fat. They had that earthy smell I enjoyed it. As far as whose strain I have no idea. WSX shipping and all around handling works best for me. Even when I have had problems. Been considering WW again. Have a great crop of BB Gum, BB Gum Sherbet and Chiquita Banana. All of those are close to finish. Also have some Blue Dream that just started flower and 1 Zeus.

Old Man Green from Old School Genetics has a clone of White Widow from the late 90's, he makes S1's from it but you'd have to do some pheno hunting through his S1's to get something close to old school White Widow.
