What's In Jim's Grow Room?

If you are happy with your end product then you're expert enough... :high-five:
I haven't heard of that - I will look up Graytail's journal. When I started growing I would get very confused by when the first day of flower should be counted from....so I kept records of my first few flowering periods and noted that counting from switch to 12/12 seemed to bring them in line (almost exactly) to the breeders' flowering time information. I go to the Netherlands every summer (wife is Dutch) so I almost always go and visit the Dutch Passion HQ when I am there. They confirmed that counting should be from day of switch to 12/12. I only generally use seeds from The Green House or Dutch Passion - nearly every strain I have grown from them has been spot on in terms of advertised flowering days (from switch to 12/12). The latest batch that I switched over a week ago already had started to produce pre-flowers (with nice pistils) at the end of veg (seed to end of veg was 47 days)....maybe it's the strain. Anyway..off to do the second week of STS spray....(hows it going with the plant you are turning - see any changes yet?)

Ok...so this is good information.

Hi MagicJim, do you count your auto flower time the same way? I have a og Kush that just started to show pistils on day 30 with a breeder life of 70 days so your way would be more fitting. I just don't see this plant being done in 40 days.
I'm going to keep track for this plant and then next grow I'll give it a go with the whole tent. Doesn't hurt to try, thanks for the cool idea!

Nope...I'm fairly certain breeder information on autos is days from germination to harvest. I take all that with a grain of salt. They're in the business of selling beans and they know that all growers are impatient. Many bean sellers will attempt to appeal to potential buyers with the short end of the harvest window.

High Grizz...Good to see ya! :bongrip:

Update

It's been quite cool here for May. That's made it easier to control tent temps and I think the girls like it. My camera never quite captures their beauty. But maybe my vision is effected by the Chemdawg I smoked this morning. Great stuff that Chemdawg. :bongrip:

The sex reversal candidate got the second STS treatment and I do believe I'm seeing some minor changes.

Next up is a full nute mix according to Fox Farms' schedule followed by water/water when needed. I've never pushed a full nutrient mix as I've always been a little cautious so I've decided to test the upper bounds here. We shall see.

Good morning Jim. :hugs:  What a delightful start to my day. I love to watch the tall branches fill with blossoms, don't you? I refer to the blossoming on sativa-dominants as the "sativa climb". I just love the way the bloom swirls its way up the branch. Yours are looking mighty happy, not a surprising occurance. :laughtwo:

Thanks for the bright beginning. Have a wonderful day. We got sunshine and clear skies this morning. It has been unseasonably cold, hasn't it? Have fun today. See you around the neighborhood. :kisstwo:

Hi Jim, nice pics! Are you not counting flowering days from the day you switch to 12/12 ? If not, I am curious as to why...

The theory on counting from first pistols is because plants will start flowering quicker when they are more mature. For example, I put a plant into flower and it took 9 days to show preflowers. I just put another cut off that same plant into flower, but it had been vegged for about a month longer. This one started throwing pistols in 1 day, so it should be ready about a week sooner than the first one was if I were to count from time of switching lighting schedules.

High Sue....I almost wasted my day soaking up the sun because the weatherman is saying we're in for 5 days rain. It's not supposed to rain every minute but things are not looking good for seeing much sunshine.

Great news Jim! I won the third Mars-Hydro cup. That means I will get all the equipment I need to get started on my breeding project. I have quite a learning curve to do when it comes to these things though.

Here's what I won:

4 Mars Pro II epistar 80
4 grow bar 24 LED-120
1 grow tent 120x120x200cm
1 pair of LED grow light glasses
1 pair of yoyo hangers

Man....that really is quite a haul. Looking forward to your breeding project.

Good point. Way back when I asked this guy if he played golf? His response was "I could argue either way." I laughed till my sides hurt.

Blue Dream Clones Flower Day 7

In the Wake n Bake bowl this morning is Jack Herer. I still hold this strain in very high regard. If the sky clears I might roll one this morning and get some wind therapy.

The girls got a feeding yesterday of a full strength nutrient mix in water bubbled overnight. They seem to be responding well. They're still green. The reversal candidate is only showing some lower leaf damage from her STS treatments. I'll check her closer again today as everything has to come out of the tent for a filter change. This filter has lasted about 20 months.

I took inventory this morning and concluded I need to make some CCO or rosin or give to the needy.

Finally....I decided to shut off the lights and fans in the veg tent to conserve energy for a while. The moms went to the compost pile and the soil will get recycled.

Am doing a Jack Herer auto now in my small tent. Planning to put it outside when the temperatures raises a little bit. Would however love to grow the real Jack instead and I will follow your grow to learn how this strain behave. Which kind of phenos did you get? I know they have a long sativa dominant and a shorter one.

Oh wait :D I misunderstood - you're smoking Jack, not growing Jack

Wow. That's a beauty indeed.

Wow. That's a beauty indeed.

Jim has this touch...... :battingeyelashes:  That was one beautiful plant.

Geez Jim... nice inventory. I keep giving mine away to needy people. :laughtwo: I say make some CCO. It'll give a better return than rosin and store in much less space than those jars. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hi Jim
How is the STS treatment of your plant coming along? Day 14 from switch and I think I am seeing some movement (third and final day of spraying today). I posted Pics in Nis and Canna's jorunal if you are interested. I am curious to see how your experience with the STS is.

P.S. Jack Herer is a fine smoke :rollit: Lovely photo. First had it in Amsterdam in 1999 - met my wife to be three hours later (am not convinced these two events are related though....)

Yep...I've had plenty of opportunities this week to make some CCO but I don't have any Everclear. Did dabs this morning and had to steady myself. Easy for me to lose my balance.

Mine looks just like the one that you showed Nismo. I see only slight browning on a few pistil ends. Some brown blotches on leaves on the lower part of the plant.

The alcoholic in me says spray more. (If one drink is good, 3 must be better.)

I've sprayed on Saturday 4/29/17, Friday 5/6/17 and Yesterday so I've tried to compress the frequency a bit since I didn't start when they went to 12&12 4/24/17. I'm not sure I've done it properly and like you, question the process a bit here.

We'll see.

Jim, I don't know if you caught my recent excitement, but I discovered that the olive oil extraction I made using PsyCro's method is potent enough to rival CCO. I've made oil using his volumes of 100 dry grams to 500 ml of olive oil, and although that made powerful meds, the capsules I made from previous batches don't compare in potency. You might want to look into this process. This wicked buzz I have going for the fourth day in a row has me leaving my brownies in the freezer. Yesterday I gave the dose of brownie to a needy friend because I simply didn't need it.

I believe we have similar tastes Jim, when it comes to the quality of the buzz. If we were real neighbors I'd already have offered you some to try. Barring that I'd recommend you try a batch with one of your Blue Dreams. I've had one capsule over five hours ago and I can't believe how high I am. I'm gonna have to order smaller capsules and scale the dose back. :laughtwo:
