WestHippie’s 420 OG Hydro 1000 Watt MH/HPS

Too many charts , on the one I’m using the calcium is 5.8 and down . Magnesium is 5.8 and up !
Plus I was using AN nutrients ph Perfect which starts at the bottom and rises .

Hey Hippie how r things??I have only been stopping over here for the last couple weeks I have noticed you keep you keep ph on the lower end of the slide for hydro. R u having Cal problems?? I know there is a real colourful chart floating around 420 but the Cal on the chart seems to b off. The rest of the chart is on point but Cal is not. In my experience 90 % of strains will do absolutely fine at ph 5.8 for Cal but the other 10% of strains that r Cal pigs will respond better at a ph of 5.9 or 6.0. Here is a few charts for you to compare
This may or may not help but it is something else think about lol. Keep in mind the plants in week 3,4,5 in flower r using the most cal in the whole cycle. For what it’s worth I set 5.8 on my ph controller in veg then 5.9 in pre flower then 6.0 for the rest of flower. It has been working well for me after I had my own cal debacle. Anyways good luck Hippie and with the jars you’re pulling down you will get this figured out.
I like that 90% will do just fine at 5.8 , I just need to get away from the ph Perfect nutrients and adjust accordingly! Wished I’d bought the ph controller for the reservoir!
Thanks for the info any and all is appreciated !
Here is the nutrients available chart I’m using.

Day 35 of 12/12. DWC
B-1
Water temp 68.0 down 1/2”
TDS 1283 ppm was 1277
Ph 5.4 put in 6 mL base to get 5.8 ph
I put the pump I bought for the cloner at the very bottom of the bucket . I’ll let it run all night if it helps steady the ph I’ll take it !

B-2
Water temp 68.7 down 1/2”
TDS 1259 ppm was 1274 ppm
Ph 5.4 same thing 6 mL base no pump for this one
B-3
Water temp 68.7 down 1/2”
TDS 1633 ppm was 1650 ppm
Ph 5.3 added 6 mL base also brought the ph to 5.6 AN nutrients sweet spot!

I like the GH PH chart the best b/c it depicts that the availability of each element tapers in or out, as opposed to the other charts that implies that a certain PH, the element completely cut off from availability and that's just not the case. The GH one merely implies more or less available at a given PH.

Keeping me confused going to shoot for the 5.8 and stay there . Have to change the B-3 bucket to MC ! At this time AN nutrient is out !

Ya the controller was not cheap but it is a nice feature. Set it and for get it. I bought it because I can not see my plants every day so I needed the controller to keep shit in check. I am a firm believer stability for ph, nutrient temp, and environment will give very consistent and huge yields.

Day 36 of 12/12 DWC
B-1 bundle of joy again today
Water temp 68.0 down 1”
TDS 1239 ppm was 1283 ppm
Ph what the hell 4.8 8 mL base now 5.9
B-2 sucks
Water temp 68.0 down 1”
TDS 1259 ppm was 1259
Ph low life ph 5.2 6 mL base 5.9
B-3
Water temp 67.6 down 1” Falling
TDS 1602 ppm was 1633 ppm Falling
Ph 5.5 adjusted to 5.9 12 mL base fighting the AN nutrients,
Took a pic

Hey Hippie a quick?? I have only used a few different lines of nutrient. However I do know a few people that speak very highly of AN. With the AN perfect ph is it normal for the ph to drop below 5.5.?? They have been trying for awhile to get me to try AN and I am just wondering if I should go with another lineup other than AN next time I switch.

I was doing the Connoisseur full line nutrients and at normal it would start at 5.45 ph and rise from there . I’ve ran them for over three years and has done well till this last order it hasn’t done the same as normal. I googled it and found out 5.6 is there sweet spot ? Only bucket three has the AN nutrients! Don’t know why buckets 1&2 took a dive in ph it’s MC nutrients .

I've lost all sense of perspective in that pic. Are they growing under the net?
They are short ones thought about milk crates !

Good to know about the nutrient. I am going to try to sneak a few peaks at there meters when I am around and see what their numbers r at any given time when I am over at their places. As far as 5.6 for the sweet spot you could be totally correct as I read about 100 hr of research on the net when I had my cal debacle and there is a lot of shit out there. Bumping the ph has had no negative effects in my grows and as long as I am not robbing the plant of any other element it’s all good. As you know once you get a cal deficit going it’s ruthless if you can’t get it licked rather quickly.

I’m liking the 5.8 at 90% but a person can’t do it with AN nutrients it has control. Watch in bucket 3 tomorrow it will take a dive , the ph will be close to or on 5.5 again .
My cal debate is how many calmag have different amounts of calcium and magnesium and nitrogen which this ones crazy from 2 to 12 % .

I was a 5.8 person before I got my ass kicked by cal. I had to run the same strain again just to get some redemption and bumping my ph helped as those charts showed. Now I have switched back to my go to stain and am on week 6 with the ph at 6.0 and my plants r perfect. Keep in mind my go to stain did just fine at 5.8 for many runs as well. This is something I have been playing with for around 5 months now with no negative effects yet and my plants r wanting nothing. With so many Cal mags out there who knows one thing is for sure the plants will tell you what they want. R you using RO water??

I believe all the calmags I looked at were in the neighborhood of 2% N or less. It baffles me why MC's calmag has so much N.

Edit - I just went and looked at it again. The N is so high because the only 2 complexes used is calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate, each are not too far from equaled in their respective element with nitrate.

CalNite = 15.5%N - 19%Ca
MagNite = 11%N - 9.3%Mg

Yes to the ro water! That’s why I add calmag from the start.

We are thru day 3 of the pro calmag, no noticeable change in the girls . Hope it goes okay.
