Crop King Seeds - Crown Royale

For the last almost 8 months this plant has been my baby. A lot of time went goes into fluxing there is no doubt about it. The time spent with it was a zen like experience...almost like a bonsai tree. If you have the time and the room, I would highly recommend doing one. It was a lesson on learning how plants grow and how to control where you want the growth to go.

She went vertical about 8" too much and began to flop over towards the end even though she was drinking 4 gallons every 2 or 3 days. So the lesson learned on this is bigger the pot, the better. She was in a 7 for most of her life and I planned to keep it in there. Its' a good thing we didn't and put it in a 15 gallon. It would have been good to know what would have happened with another 10 gallons of soil.

We could have harvested her late last week but with the holidays, it just didn't fit into the schedule. So yesterday it was after the holiday. It has been extremely dry around here lately and picked up a larger humidifier for the rooms. But it being as dry as it was did not do her leaves any justice. It fried them. Oh well, after a bud wash a ton of trimming, we have a tent full of buds hanging there for enjoyment. I checked on them today and its 50% humidity in there and I hope it holds. If each branch weighed half of an ounce, we will have 13 zips. We shall see.

This is not my last flux as I have 3 going currently and Canna just topped hers for the fluxing/grafting. Good times ahead. Onto the pictures. Sorry for the "bad" pictures as I really didn't like the way she looked and couldn't look anymore so I just started cutting off branches.

Thanks for the reassurance. I didn't like the final pictures but I guess you have to look at the entire 8 months as a whole to make it a proper review. I have a feeling we will be bringing in the new year with a bowl of crown royale.
Very niceness ya'll got growing on here................ Keepem Green
Good to see ya around these parts. Everytime I stop by your place it is just loaded with pictures of awesome looking plants. Makes me a tad jealous. We have been thinking about heading out to the wild west and growing out there. Medford area. Time for a change of scenery and pursuing this hobby professionally. Have the paperwork for the permits. It's only a matter of time.

Yup. This Blue dream scrog we will be doing is going to be a practice run for the dream.

We got 4 kits from doc and next weekend we will be driving 2 hours to pick up 4 bales of promix HP. For $50 a bale we can't pass it up..plus we wouldn't piss off the UPS driver lol.

How do you think 4 plants would do in one kit all sharing the soil? I'm thinking explosion! :woohoo:

Waddaya mean how would 4 plants be :slide:.....gonna blow you away. I would train them for volume and bud sites. With that much soil to draw from and lots of usable light...they will resemble outdoor plants ,..given some space. It will be one for me to watch,...i can't wait to see ya's do it that way. It's like what i would do next. Most excellent idea Nis.
have an awesome night you guys. Cheers.:Namaste:

i agree with duggan. I've had grows with several plants coinhabit the same 15 gallon softee..my results, YRMV, pots with several of same strain did better than pots with different strains, same number of plants.
this made sense to me at the time...still does even tonight

plant 1,2, or 3 plants in a 28 gallon tote? Booyah!!!

:)

Good morning everyone! Putting a material list together and going to go get material to make these planters. Since it's a 3 day weekend again, I want to stay busy. While we are getting material we will be bombing for bugs again. Then it will be be more cleaning and finishing the veg room. Clones will be taken tomorrow. Kinda like the idea of starting this on the first day of the year.

Since it's going to be a scrog, they would all have to be the same anyways...if you wanted a better chance at an even canopy and roughly the same finish time. This is going to be cool.

Challenge for C & N....do the grow free hand ( in the raised bed) don't use a screen!! :) use your skills ...get the canopy even, and then keep it that way , without the use of a screen or net. You two have the skill and motivation and now you have the means (the Kit).I would do as you suggested...put four similar plants in each "kit" "bed" equally spaced out from the corners and train the crap out of them to resemble one big plant , where you can't even tell how many are there. Do this , with a longer than normal veg time, and you will harvest close to 2 pounds , or 32 zips. That has always been my goal , but i need just a lil more room to get that yield. So far it seems no matter how hard i try , the room will only give me up to 25 z's. With the space you guys have 2 pounds from one kit is very doable. Have fun today playing ...:)
Cheers guys and have an awesome day and New Years Eve!

You are right Duggs. We do have the skill, the means, and the kit. What we don't have is all the time it would take to tend to 16 plants with no scrog. We plan on building 4 of the raised beds x 4 or 5 plants each, means 16-20 plants to train by hand. I'll pass. Lol! I've got a project starting soon anyway. I plan on trying grafting with the Lemon Venom we've got growing. I want to be able to put a lot of time into her as she needs it. It won't be too time consuming in the beginning, but I plan on a flux style training, with grafts from other plants where her tops were. Her tops (hopefully) will go into the cloner to use in one of the raised bed planters eventually. See what we did there? No waste. That's right. Lol

Happy new year everyone!

Canna, I've been reluctant to read through this journal because of the number of posts. I'm still reading through it but I just had to stop and say thanks for starting such a kick ass journal. I don't know if I'll ever catch up. But I am definitely subbed and will be keeping current. Happy growing and stay safe this new years eve everyone. Now its time for some bubble hash and journal surfing.

So I was getting my head around the high brix way of living. I came around this interview on the matter:

ACRES U.S.A. We tend to think that minerals in the soil are scarce because most of them are not in a form available to plants.

JONES. A soil test will only tell you what is available to plants by passive uptake. The other 97 percent of minerals — made available by microbes — will not show up on a standard test. By looking after the microbes in the soil we can increase the availability of a huge variety of minerals and trace elements — most of which are not even in fertilizers.

ACRES U.S.A. We always hear the story about fields that were continuously cropped or hayed for 30 years where the soil is so exhausted that we have to add a lot of nutrients or we can’t grow a thing.

JONES. The problem is that we interrupt carbon flow with the way we farm. Cultivating the soil and using chemical fertilizer and pesticides break up the mycorrhizal networks. If plants can obtain nitrogen or phosphorus easily, they will stop pumping carbon into the soil to support their microbial partners.

It’s taken a while for people to realize that plant root exudates are not only important for nutrient exchange, but also essential for the maintenance of topsoil. If carbon is not flowing to soil via the liquid carbon pathway, soil deteriorates. Carbon is needed for soil structure and water holding capacity as well as for feeding the microbes involved in nutrient acquisition.

When soil loses carbon, it becomes hard and compacted. The differences in infiltration and moisture retention between high and low carbon soils are dramatic. Planetary stocks of fresh water are declining alarmingly. More efficient water use is going to be absolutely critical to the survival of our species.

Making better use of water requires improved soil structure — which in turn requires actively aggregating soils. If aggregates are breaking down faster than they’re forming, the water-holding capacity of soil can only deteriorate.

(TL:DR) High brix ass kicks! Now that I tasted my own higher brix crops I can testify it is

This had me thinking for a while. And it makes total sense to me and warms me greatly that people are thinking and living- the colorful, fruity, sweet, lovely way of making our own Paradise here. All the singing birds and buzzing bees around! That's the dream I want to dream. The Love and peace, can that be the way? Love for peace, and peace to make it stay. I want to work in fruit and veggies related business to get the feel for the quality and finding it. I love how the hemp industry is already doing so much for the humanity yet it has begun few years ago. Like for example I was looking for alternative ways to plastic vacuum storage for food. Bud vacuum storage is what I find first :D Glass container. Glass is meant to last. Like high brix garden. Wohoo! Happy new year!

P.S. This looks absolutely epic:

I can definitely store fresh everything with the help of my handy compressor unit :) Dreaming the dream. Thank you.
