Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

May I ask a noobie question?

Can / should I use a 400W HID for seedlings? Also have a Mars/Hydro 400 but we are expecting some very cold weather and I wanted to use the HID for extra heat. If I do use it, how high above the babies should i hang it?

Only reason I'm asking here is because of the traffic (I know I'll get an answer) and because Canna & Nis keep telling everyone not to be shy about asking ANYTHING

Thanks kids

PS - thanks for the welcome duggan. I am spending waaaaay too much time reading journals right now. (But its better than TV!)

I'll start off by saying that seedlings don't need that much light but I understand your reasoning for the heat. So if you have a dimmable ballast then you could turn it down 50% if wanted. But for 400 watts bare bulb I would start at 18" or so and slowly lower it over some time. Once they are used to it and everything is good then you could get as close as 12" if it isn't too hot for them. If it's too hot for your hand to be under it, it's way too hot for them.

You can run the lights at 24 for a little while but I'm pretty sure you'll want to switch to 18/6, 20/4 or some other veg schedule, so what will you do for heat during lights out? I brought my operation inside from the garage because it gets brutally cold where I am at.

Even when my tent was in the garage, I had an air conditioning box in a closet with a CFL for seedlings and clones so I could keep a close eye on them. I sent you a PM old noob, click on user cp at the top.

Evening Duggs. Been working some crazy long hours at work so haven't had much time to hang out here. Wasn't even around when Canna harvested 2 plants yesterday. Busy busy.

But I did get a chance to snag a couple pictures with my phone tonight while we fed the flower room.

Did some playing with the SSH yesterday. Said Flux it.

Then here is the other flux. Incredible bulk. Also in HB soil.

Everyone else is looking great and couldn't be happier. Have a great night. Smoking on a little critical+ tonight.

Well, I woke up this morning and heard crickets chirping. Couldn't for the life of me find where it was coming from. Then I came here. Lol! Found the crickets.

Since I've had a job offer, we have decided it would be best if quit the job searching. So that means I have time to do things around here. I'm going to cap up the oil I made for capsules, and I'll probably make those GF canna-brownies I've been wanting to make. Yay! I should be around today more than I have been lately. I hope everyone has a great day, I know I will!

Great to hear that! You really have crickets in your grow room? They might munch on your girls. I did find a centipede, several spiders and a Ladybird, just chilling in mine, but that is to be expected when I use the soil straight from garden :)

Nice day to you Canna! :Namaste:

you could diffuse the light and still use the heat, or use something to cover the seedlings like a thin sheet..or even ...put them away from the direct light...like...at the outside of the light footprint.

Well, we have no actual crickets in the grow rooms, that I know of. We did have a mantis. We named her alegulon, but sadly she passed. What I was referring to, is this ghostly quiet journal. Lol! I felt the need to liven this place up a bit. Soon it will be time for me to go check on the seedlings in the cloner. I hope they take root. I'm not sure if we've started seeds this way in the past. Hopefully they won't become water logged. Either way, it will be a learning lesson for us.

I was wondering about the net pots in the cloner. Are those seedlings in plugs?

White cookies is about done. This is under the PS 1000. :thumb:

I think the flux will go 10 weeks. Pistils are still pushing out. :woohoo:

Just dropping in quick. Time to get stoned and get some sleep. I'm beat.
