Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

Well, you wash your veggies when you harvest from the garden, right? Get all the dirt and dust off them before you eat it. The same applies with your buds. We trimmed all the buds prior to the wash. In the buckets pictured, the left one has
1 c. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 c. Baking soda
5 gal cold water
Middle and right buckets have plain cold water. We submerged the buds in the lemon/soda bucket for about 30 sec, or until the bubbles stopped coming out. Gently swirl it for the 30 secs. You don't want to bump the bucket and risk losing the tri's. Then remove bud and dangle over bucket until it stops dripping and do the same with the 2 rinse buckets. We then tied the buds to a hanger to get them to drip dry. Once we didn't feel the water in the buds, we put them in separate 2.5 gal glass containers with a large 62% Boveda. It should cure for about 3 weeks. Viola! Smokey smoke time. :blunt:

You have them jarred already? If so, I'd rethink that. Those are dense enough buds you're courting mold. I leave my buds hang for at least four days, and longer with dense ones like the Dark Devil Autos.

Kuddos on a fine job. Your first harvest? Ahhhh....... It's like your first love. No other will ever compare.

I'm a 7 day hanger, I've had jars mold after 5 days w/o wash. Those are great looking buds, don't let them mold. I'd hang them a few days at least before the jar.

Cheers

Agreed .. too early to jar. You want a 7-14 day before you jar.

You need to hang dry or mesh dry defore jarring them.

It will adjust it by a few % either way but it won't bring it down from 75%.

The Boveda 62 will adjust down and up to the limit of their capacity.

When the packs get dry and crumbly, I set them in a cup of water for 2 days, on the kitchen counter for 2 days, and then they are hydrated for use again.

When the packs are too moist (see immersed in water for 2 days), I set them on the counter for 2 days.

I have never lived in a climate consistently over 62% humidity, but I imagine you could oven dry them similar to decarboxylating your cannabis. - oven dry is A GUESS, I haven't done it. I have rehydrated the small boveda packs in a coffee cup many, many times.

Thanks for the great info RG! It's very helpful to know we can re-moisten the Boveda packs. That will save us some cash in the future. :namaste:

I wrap mine in a paper towel with evenly-moistened with RO water, and place them in a ziplock bag for a couple days. Then they're not too damp. This seems to work reasonably well to rehydrate them.

I remember reading a thread on another site quite a ways back on using the Bovedas for this purpose, but they were cautious to give them two to three days hanging before jarring up. I guess as long as you're burping every day, which gives you the opportunity to check for mold, this would be worth exploring. The Bovedas aren't really designed to pull that much moisture out are they? My understanding was that they were really meant to keep the humidity from falling below a certain level. There's a little niggling thought in the back of my mind that's sending up cautionary alerts about this, but it's purely an instinctive thing, not based on any known science.

We took your advice earlier and hung the plants back up. We don't want mold.

We think it's super cool that the Boveda can be re-moistened. Will be doing that in the future.

Have a great Sunday funday Sue!

So glad to hear you're drying that lovely harvest before jarring. You just averted a potentially costly mistake especially if no one checked in a few days. However I think had you jarred them straight away you would have quickly realised something wasn't quite right...im pretty sure either of you would be glancing at the buds on a regular basis. They're beautiful to look at. Good stuff.

EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it!!!

I'll be giving an auto update today. First up we have Early Miss "Audrey" Auto. She was the seed strain we chose from placing in the CKS 420 photo contest. She was transplanted into her 5 gal pot yesterday.

Here is her top.

Now it's gone!!

And now we have Thunder Bloody Mary "Catherine" Auto. She also was put in a 5 gal pot yesterday. Then topped today.

Green Crack "Shante" Auto popped her head out of the ground on this past Friday the 13th. She's a holiday baby. Nothing superstitious there... haha!

All in all, the autos are looking good. I think we should introduce nutes on their next watering, except just water for Shante. That is all I have for today. KIG! :peace:

You're both in construction? That must make for some fun home improvement projects. Do you work well together on construction projects? I'm guessing yes, from the energy you generate here. I worked side-by-side with my husband our entire married life, at one thing or another. Entrepreneurs, addicted to the baptism by fire thing I guess. :laughtwo: Most couples can't take that kind of togetherness.

Mine and my wife work together as well, makes for the best relationship when you can spend that amount of time together. It's always fun and makes for the best work days.

Could you imagine waiting 4+ months for harvest, just to throw it all away because of rookie mistakes. Thanks Sue, Miller, and Am4zin for your help, seriously. You guys saved the day for us. Here put your superhero capes on and smoke this :blunt:

Oh goodness me yes, i did it. I do believe this is the bud I lost to mold. It was an early chop from my second grow, the top bud as well. Went into jar too soon, it hung for 2-3 days, but it was humid. The rest of the plant made it with out mold when I chopped it.
It is quite the belly ache and panic. For me the hardest part is after harvest. Make sure the jars are clean and dry, the Boveda packs help for sure.

It would have made me sick if our harvest went to waste. Like I said, I'm so glad those wonderful people chimed in and helped us. What a shame that beautiful buds of yours went bad. Sorry to hear that.

You do have a journal, sorry late... Looking forward to see what goes on around here... :passitleft:

All caught up and subbed, man that was a lot to get through for such a short time
Garden is looking quite spectacular, great job so far Canna and Nis :)
Amazing trim job you guys did on your harvest, glad you got it back out of them jars nice and quick for the dry, Boveda's are a cracking product but only for the cure, drying should have good airflow around each bud to prevent mold etc. I usually dry mine for around 7 days at around 55% RH, i wait till most of the branches snap and then let it dry another day or so with the RH at 60%, straight in jars with boveda's after that :thumb:

Well we have a preliminary smoke report. Had a couple tiny popcorn buds that we just let sit out and dry. Loaded them up last night and let me tell you, it did the trick! I was still sucking in on the bowl and I could feel it already. Wasn't harsh at all surprisingly and had a really good fruity flavor. Wasn't a heavy couch lock stone but it did let me sink into the bed a couple extra inches. After a proper cure, this will be some of the best I've smoked. I'm super excited!

You can be here in spirit. It's not easy to have all those buds hanging. Do you know how much I just want to go in that tent and ravage those beauties? It's not like they are attached to a plant now. They are free, but temporary unavailable for our smoking pleasures. Why can't they just be ready at harvest? I'll have to have a talk with the other 2 girls in flower and tell them to be ready OR ELSE! haha.

Anyway, your day will sneak up on you and it will be perfect, just like ours was this past Saturday.
