Bummer. Any reason you didn't lop off a tiny little branch, root it, and stick it in flower in order to determine the sex? Or to cover one that was still attached for 12 hours per day (yeah, that's a RPitA and I don't recommend it even for stay-at-homes)?
I would be afraid of using a male plant for grafting stock. Specifically, I would be afraid that I'd end up with a wonderful, bushy result... and that there'd be some "sprout" hidden under all the grafts that produced male flowers. I've, uhh... had some bad luck once or twice with pollen getting onto my sinse, lol.
Speaking of males... You mentioned something in a previous post about stopping the CS treatment because you thought some of the male flowers had opened? I'd think that you could stop the treatment just as soon as the plant produced those male flowers. l don't think a treated plant (or at least the site of the male flowers) is ever going to "revert" to normalcy. I could be mistaken, of course...
