Weffalo's West Coast O.G. First Time Grow: Indoor, Soil, SIP, Auto

Hope everybody is having a nice holiday.

Tents really starting to smell now, everything is looking good I think. Started to see some deficiencies in one of the plants, probably N defiency? I'm not sure and not sure if it's late enough in flower to not worry about that now or if I shoud look to fix it asap?

Currently keeping tent at 25-27c during lights on and VPD around 1.3-1.5kPa, I'm trying my best to get temps down for lights off and usually get about 18-19c.

As the plants finish up they will start cannabilizing their leaves for nutrients, but at less than 2 weeks in you're early in flower so you'll want to address any deficiencies so they don't snowball on you.
Thanks Azi, I'll add some more Micro (5-0-1) for the next feed for any plants that are showing yellowing.

Definitely not looking ideal but I've addressed the issue and added double the N on all feeds since the problem was discovered, few leaves seem to be dying so gonna remove those dead ones and hopefully no new yellowing ones appear.

Hope everyone is having a nice break and wishing everyone a good new year, got loads of threads to catch up on but just making sure I get these uploaded for now. Feeling a bit under the weather hopefully not the dreaded covid but we'll see :D

Get well mate!

From someone maybe just a few months ahead of you on their first grow how satisfying is it to see those little babies get bigger and bigger!

Always changing too. So rewarding.

Cheers mate, yep very cool. Bit sad that two of the plants are unhappy whilst one has basically shown no issues, just shows the variance between even the same strains! All the best for the new year <3

Looking good Wef. Get better quickly!
Thanks Carmen :) I'm mirroring my poor plants but I'm feeling better so hopefully they are as well soon lol.

Yellowing has gotten worse, not sure if it's snowballing or if it just takes this long to fix a defiency once it's appeared though. I've been adding double the dose of Micro for every feed since the issue appeared. Two of them show signs, one worse than the other and then one is completely chilling lol.

When growing with organics any changes you make often take a couple of weeks to show changes in your plant since the microbes have to break the stuff down first. That's why it's best to try to anticipate what's needed or at least react early to building issues.

Also why organic mixes seem to include everything but the kitchen sink in their mixes to try to already have everything that possibly could be needed already in there. And also why "water only" organic grows are hard to do in smaller pots since they don't have the physical space to store up all that's needed for the entire grow.

Thanks Azi, good to know but in this particular instance I am using synthetic nutes. Terra Aquatica (General Hydroponics) tri-part. I'm adding Micro which is 4-0-1 in double the amounts. I've still got 2ish feeds left from the mix I did so hopefully the yellowing stops otherwise I should maybe triple it?

Oh boy, I don't know about bottled nutes. Maybe @bluter could weigh in.

a quick peak at the media and nute mix from page one shows both organic and inorganic inputs. can make it a guessing game.

it's a nute or root issue. being a sip i lean to a nute issue. i'm not sure a sip can even get root rot.

I had a very similar issue using FFOF with FF nutes. A full flush with 5 gallons of water, and a little chelated Iron to help bring back the green, and it was emerald and happy by the end of the week.

No worries, thanks as always anyway Azi :)

Thanks Bluter, I did assume a nute issue when I first spotted it and have been feeding increase N since then but I don't know if that was definitely the issue as it's not really improved. The nutes are all synthetic, just the frass/dynomyco you are talking about I think? Those are both just used in the soil and not added again other than during transplant to this container.

Appreciate it Red, so in your case it was an abundance of nutes?

I'm not sure how easy it is to flush with the SIP I'm guessing I would run water through it and then let the plant soak the exact same water up from the res, I would guess feeding plain water inside the res would be pretty similar results in the SIPs?

For now I've just removed the dead leaves and snapped a pic for comparison to see if it's still getting worse.

The tent is smelling absolutely crazy now, all through the grow it's been a very fresh, earthy smell but now I'm starting to get pine and even quite a sickly sweet smell, every week it's getting seriously danker and opening the tent is getting riskier and riskier :D
