Nice! Here's a Kushion for ya. Since you're here...I have a soil question. Last few grows I've gotten mag def's early in veg for all plants. The first couple of grows in this soil mix went with no deficiency at all. Now I'm adding epsom salts and getting recovery every time, but I'd like to get this fixed. I'm adding the epsom doses up through this grow and considering adding that much to my next amending. What are your thoughts? Unless I goofed the recipe I have no clue why it's happening.Sign me up Otter.....gonna grab this chair right here.
They're starting to establish. I gave them their first water after getting light as a feather. They love the first water. Here they are.SO...looking forward to watching this Godfather OG grow, your last one was great.
Thanks, good to know, I'll check it out.SO...Im new...2nd Grow close. I grow organic soil for my meds. I realized I needed an organic Cal-Mag supplement for grow 2 with no N. I found TPS Organic Cal-Mag and have no affiliation with the company. I did epsom salts as an intervention my last grow. Im sold on this OMRI Cal-Mag supplement.
Sorry for just getting back to you on this........Magnesium deficiency....Epsom Salts will work. You can also use dolomite lime which has both Calcium and Magnesium, but just know it can cause a pH swing upwards in your soil if you use too much. You can also add sulphate of potash which is reasonably high in Magnesium as well as potassium.Nice! Here's a Kushion for ya. Since you're here...I have a soil question. Good to know. Ratios I can work with. Next amend I'm going to go with epsom salts because what I'm doing with it now is working and I will know what I did. I'll keep sulphate of potash in mind too. I don't know what your soil starts out with but sounds like you are either needing to bump it up a bit or you've been running really needy plants. Some plants were breed in salt based mediums and can be a bit more needy in Cal Mag areas. As long as you keep your ratios of Calcium and Magnesium in their acceptable ratios (I like running between 7:1 and 10:1 ratios of Calcium to Magnesium) you will be hard pressed to overdo it if you bump it up. I'd probably look to start with a baseline bump of 25% and see how everything reacts. Cannabis is such a calcium hog....and magnesium as well.
I don't know my medium ph. The Stankberries I've grown have lots of variegation in them. Can you be seeing that? Runoff is another unknown. I'm confused. Are you asking to help troubleshoot my mag def? Or about the difference between stankberries? Or both? My neglected ph pen needs re-cal. What would soil ph tell me about magnesium? If you're suggesting dolomites mag properties could help, you might be right. The first run or two in my soil was mixed with the very coarse dolomite so it's mostly still there. On the other hand, I have a new batch now giving me the same issue and I'm using powdered dolomite in it.Ahoy Stone,
What is the ph of your medium as prepared for the solo cups. My Stank does not look the same. Half LOS and half coco before anything (seeds) is added gave you what ph ? Next question is your runoff ph after feedings? As my dogbrother points out dolomite could be an option.
Ok. I'll get to a slurry test of the soils in my bins, then some runoff ph. It physically not right now because I've amended them and their new growth look good now. I'll have to work it in when it seems the right time. Maybe the godfathers 1st uppot can get it started. Yes we have to stay in the ph range these babies want. Appreciate your help! Was looking at Stankberry pictures you posted.
This is just my opinion, not an expert.
I could be wrong but I think the first things to be checked with any growth issues are medium ph and runoff ph. because the nutrients are not as readily utilized if out of optimal range ph.
Different strains are not going to deviate much in what optimal range nutrients are up taken but do play a role. As it happens I add silica, calcium and magnesium to my mega crop, while running only peat and perlite (buffered with dolomite) for a medium and have not yet seen a problem. Just tryin to help and learn.
They definitely look like they're off to a good start. They're 12 days above ground here and looking in perfect health to me.
Thanks Beez, it's the pixie dust I think. Very magical. They definitely look like they're off to a good start.
