I'm figuring out the best way to secure the FluxRing to the earth, Fluxy's got a lot of torque.

Find some 1/4" to 1/2" re-bar and make some extra long tent peg style thingies.

Adds iron to your soil too :geek:

Great idea BB :thumb: not so sure my soil needs that China rebar rust leaching down and touching my girls roots.

3 foot/ 1 meter busted broom stick handles seem to have her holdin' firm.

Not so sure about the soldering wire loops.

Edit: Oh and that old iron fan housing was probably made in China.

Just a thought.

Solder wire contains lead, I don't let that stuff near the girls, you are seeing bailing wire,

used to hold rebar together, before you pour concrete. glad you like it:high-five:

at least you have hair, no more hair jokes here, unless you have applied sunblock to the top of your head.

go back and read page 8, no hair jokes in my yard, I forgot who typed the word HAIR, on page 8, but he saw my wrath and has not even come near my neighborhood our gate since. That was day 2 and it was my 2nd 420 intervention, they had to remove what I typed, I have been an angel ever since.

Must admit though, that's a quality bit of good ol' USA chrome plating I see there.

It don't come like that any more.

I'm not clever enough to connect a reference like that.

I was simply referring to the fact you had inverted the fan housing in the soil.

And some of that shiny chrome plating was still present on the top ring.

Then saying they don't plate it like that no more.

You could use a couple sticks like the one lying to the right.

Put them across, on top of the ring, but under the branches, a couple of inches from the trunk.

The branches will hold the sticks down, and the sticks will hold the ring down.

And the sticks will support the branches, so all the stress isn't on their junction to the trunk.

LA - what do you think?

It occurs to me that if you did this, either the branches would straighten, or Fluxy would lift herself out of the ground. Hard to imagine, but I wonder if it would affect the growth hormones to be pulling up on her roots rather than pushing down.

thanks slowgro,:thumb: that "stick" is my soil leveling device!

actually something has to hold the ring to the earth, firmly! the branches are always trying you come towards the center & up. Fluxy was unrestrained for over a week and her limbs shifted up & in quite a bit. The ring needs about 20 pounds of weight, dispersed throughout the ring, to be able to pull the branches back down with daily wire tightening. 3 stakes driven over 2 feet into the soil should hold it down, she's a tough gal!
