For lack of hardware AND floor space, I sacrificed the seedling most likely to make me crazy in the long run. Only up 1.5 inches in 3 weeks

I know it's been a good while since I posted pics of the whole setup.

Top to bottom =
CO2 bag sitting on topof an adjustable shelf for supporting 2 X 1000w led lights and 4 150gph air pumps. Next there's three 7 inch fans, one venting out at 6ft and 2 blowing down at the garden. Personally, I'm fond of stacking buckets so as to give each individual plant somewhat equal exposure. If a plant requires an adjustment, "Easy-Pleasy"! I also have ways to solidly adjust up or down at 4 inch intervals. And on the floor, a small dehumidifier.

My hydro bucket setups are worthy of a patent, (I say while patting myself on the back).. All water changes are like my version of a 10 minute oil and lube with each bucket having it's own version of a DIY dipstick (floting water level indicator made from a drinking straw and a short length of 1/2" id PVC)...

DIY plans available by request!

It's been a 7 month long work in progress. One thats a seemingly "Ever Lasting Story". There's still more to improve.

Pennywise mentioned supporting the top shelf with ridged pipes. I'll give it some serious design consideration. I am foremost determined to prevent damage to the rentet walls. I want to allow the lights for another 10/12 inches.

W.T.F.?

Today I discovered that the 2 remaing auto cheese CBD (7/21/19) are only 2 and 3 inches respectively and look as though they're already flowering!!!!!

Not again man! I've already raised two worthless, mutant seedlings (one auto Russian Roulette and one Auto Kush). I can't see myself working and waiting 4 or 5 months and profit 3 or 4 grams. I'm unwilling to dedicate this much space for a loosing endeavor. The other auto CBD (Kush) is the same age and thriving normally...

I'm having an epiphany as to why so many seedlings are struggling or failing. Im rushing them out of the nursery!!! They end up "resenting me".

I'm seemingly plagued with with crummy seedlings so it's obvious I'm screwing them up.

I need to rethink my First Stage treatment's! After germination Then, a week or so into 2" rockwool plug, as soon as I spot a few roots then I transplant into 3.5 inch rockwool cubes.

WRONG RIGHT?

After some self observations I realized that I'm probably transplanting the seedlings into the next substrate (the 3.5 inch) far too early.

My anxiety gets me tangled up with seeing them sitting in a big bucket underneath the lights.

I suppose I need to let them learn to get their feet good and wet, before I toss em in the pond!!!

I actually use a one gallon clear vinyl tented tote as a nursery. Inside that I use 3 inches of glass marbles (nothing for the roots to holdon to) and water a full inch below! My problem is as soon as I see a few roots I rush into the next transplant.

Here forward, I wait till both roots and seedling reach 4 or MORE inches "THEN TRANSPLANT " to the buckets. Besides, the nursery gives 6 or 7 inches headroom!!

Proper VS Improper root start.
Auto Kush plant had serious roots from the first 5 days in the nursery and had 3 first growth foliage at the same time the 3 cheese only had slight root and 1 embryonic foliage but like an impatient traffic cop, sent em all into the fast lane.

Is this somehow, making sense? I'm what's screwing me up?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Only after the nursery roots have reached reached several inches, then I can fashion a better rockwool base and still keep it in the nursery until it'll run upu until it's too tall for the tent. Then get them into a 6 inch hydro basket and permanent bucket. I'm gonna need to calm down with creating seedlings...

With 2 healthy auto's (13 and 4 weeks) By the time I can get 1 or 2 Chemdog into mid vegetative, they should have the whole room to themselves.

I stick mine directly in 6” basket with clay marbles and I’m done. No need to start them in a small basket once they have roots established.

My Chemdog came today and I couldn't find my sand so I stripped some sand from 80 grit sandpaper and used that. 2 are germinating right now.

I have a new plan with sand scarification. Hope it makes them germinate better.

I sometimes have trouble explaining things when I'm stoned.

I first put the germinated seed in a 2 inch round rockwool plug. And then after that (for 10 14 days) I relocate that plug into a 4x4 rockwool with 2 inch holes. While "from now on" they remain in the nursery untill 6 or 7 inches before they go to the 6 inch hydroponic basket.

Are Y'all setting up a new thread for this Chemdog grow?

and. I just want to make sure these Chemdog seeds are in fact, "photoperiod"!

I'm ready!

I finally found it and now I'm unsure if I qualify because I bought Chemdog #4.

So, if I'm out, I'll be cool just watching the show! And posting on my Skid Row Journal.

Great News! So, I'm growing 2 Chemdog #4 seeds, they're in the first 24 of germination. I'll try not to screw these up.

I tried scarification using reclaimed 80 grit sand from black sanding paper. Probably not the best choice but, it's better than nothing. :yummy:
