Vortex's Lab: 4x4 Secondary Garden & Experimental Thread

You’ll get them dialed in soon enough.

I think so. Biggest thing is the unknown strength of the oil. Whatever though. Long as they do the trick, we’re good. :cheesygrinsmiley:

They kickin in yet?

Did what kick in yet?

Oh, right.

Started really kickin in about 10 minutes ago. Yep, these are going to be jussssst fine. :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was shocked. I figured being autos, I’d be content with about a pound. Over 2? I‘m still stoked. More testing work to be done with this round, and see how things go.

Amazing brother can’t complain

Hell nah.

Morning after gummy trial and the verdict is in. Right where they should be, if not a tick to the stronger side. Just what I was looking for.

The only thing I’m not fond of is that “toasted weed” flavor that’s in it, but I can work that out at some point. It’s not strong, and some people like it. It’s a bit nutty for me, but thankfully it’s not really strong. Maybe it will mellow out a bit as the new oil rests. Since I poured the measurement right off the stove, that may have made it a hair stronger. The first batch with the last batch of oil was the same way. Subsequent batches were better in that department.

Me too, before long I bet. With a smaller batch, they won't last near as long. They did have a good staying power though. A good 4-5 hours before floating down, so that was nice.

Dude nice start those rapid rooters work good I was always a rockwool type of guy

Me too, along with the jiffy pellets. But these rapid rooters are definitely the deal. I’m just happy all 4 popped. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Well well well... the little babies are giving it a go!

With nice taps just getting to the bottom of the rooter. Guess it’s into the new rig later on today or tomorrow!

And here... we... goooooo!!!!!

Ladies into their final home.

Top left we have an Auto Durban Poison, suggested at 10-11 weeks from seed to chop.

Top right we have Auto Orange Bud, also suggested at the 10-11 week mark.

Bottom left we have Auto Night Queen. She’s suggested at 10 weeks.

All three above are Dutch Passion.

Bottom right we have Cream Cookies, and she’s also suggested at 10 weeks. She is from Fast Buds.

Buckets cycle every 4 hours for 15 minutes, starting from midnight. On both the 12’s, it’s 30 minutes. A circulation pump in the res kicks on/off 15 minutes before/after, and an air stone (long one) runs continuously.

Why so frequent? Simply to freshen the little water pocket in each bucket and keep the entirety of the solution consistent. Early on as the roots dig down it will also help in keeping them moist.

Why so long? Again, to keep the entire nutrient solution well mixed and consistent.

In their little dome world it was 1g/gal of MC. Now they are at 2g/gal. Not using calmag until they tell me to, and also not using any silica. I will bump them to 3g/gal next week, and keep along with the farside schedule for the most part. As the plants grow, and we get a few weeks in, around the 4g/gal mark I’m going to let the plants tell me from there.

While the MC dosage is below 4g/gal, it will be straight RO. Once at and above that mark, I’ll mix in a little tap to help balance the pH a little easier without up or down. Most likely will mix in the tap at time of, and let the barrel remain pure RO, since the batches of water per res will be 15-20 gal per fill.

Once the RDWC rig is done in the next couple weeks, I’ll be moving the blue lab guardian over to this reservoir. Not really necessary, but might as well use the best tool I have available.

And that about wraps it up for now.

Remember ol Lemmy? Grabbed a bud of hers to give a go (3 weeks into cure) and she’s fire. Spot on super lemon haze all the way. She’s going to be really, really good once cured.

Hell, she’s damn good now, but obviously going to further improve as she cures. I’m excited. :cheesygrinsmiley:
