Vortex's Lab: 4x4 Secondary Garden & Experimental Thread

That was my original plan.

Was going to run the Auto DP to have a comparison to their photo version, that I'll chop in the next few days it looks like. The cream cookies sounded good, and I do like GSC. So I suppose I'll just go ahead and run them. What's the worst thing that could happen, I catch a nice buzz?

I think I'll drop a seed of each, and go from there.

That’s what happened. Stuck to the original plan and dropped one of each. They’re in the water, now just waiting on tails. Rapid rooters standing by, and all that jazz.

Seeds in the drink for 24hrs. No tails yet, but all 4 seem to be on the cusp and look to have started to crack. Temp holding steady around 78F, and it wouldn't surprise me to have 4 tails in the morning.

Made an upgrade to the drain for the new Dutch rig. Instead of just draining into a bucket (the outlet is going to be a hair low for it anyway) I dug through some spare parts and found a reducer bushing from 1.25" to 3/4", and a garden hose adapter. And I just happen to have a 25ft garden hose that will easily reach the drain that is further into the depths of the space.

The light upgrade arrived Monday, but I haven't had a chance to hang it yet. It's on my list for tomorrow or Saturday.

Now we're just waiting on seeds to pop!

Now we have tails! Well, more like tiny nubs, but they're all on their way. Going to keep them soaking for a few more hours while I finish up the work day, and then into the rooters they go! :cheesygrinsmiley:

And now we’re happily (I hope), properly buried in rapid rooters.

Put them back into incubation for the night while I figure out where I’m going to finish sprouting them. Most likely the main tent, but need to figure out something stable for the heat mat and seedling dome deal to sit on that is secure enough.

So far, so good. (So what!)

Next!

T- 1 day? 2 days?

Rooters went into the tent and under the light. Temp in the dome a steady 78F. Now we wait...

Future moms that had been hanging out in here have been swapped over to their permanent home in the 1x3 shelved side of the Dev Lab.

They also have a visitor that will be sticking around for a couple weeks until it can go outside.

Same here. I’m not worried about the supply line where I glued. That gorilla stuff is the real deal, and it’s super low odor.

The return line is good too. A couple of the bends I glued as there was just enough pressure from the rest of the run to make the joints a hair loose.

The places I’ll be watching like a hawk will be the water level indicator on the res, the bulkheads on the buckets, and the connections on the floraflex valve/manifold (including drip lines.)

Not that something else couldn’t, but if there were something, that is where I would expect it first from this round.

The first run everything checked out, with the exception of one bend in the return line. That’s why I went ahead and glued the bends.

Will have to move the seedling box for a bit to get it done, but better than having an issue when they’re in the buckets.

Yeah, barbs can be leaky. I had to duct clamp two spots on my rdwc res level indicator. Those things come in handy.

Most likely any drips will get a hit of flex seal. Either the goo or the tape. It’s gimmicky with the commercials, but it does work.

I was surprised. First time was impulse buy of a small tube. We t back for a couple big tubes, a spray can, and a thing of tape. Kept it on hand since.

Got the new 250w Series 3 Red Spec @Budget LED hung and ready to go. Put it in the back. No specific reason other than that’s where I swiped the one that went into the 3x3 came from.

I think once the growant light shows up, I’ll pop it in the front corner where the one board is that isn’t red spec. I ordered the series 2 lights woth one red spec and one full spec board each. The full specs had UV on the series 2 but the red specs didn’t. That should help add some red to that corner, although there should be plenty to go around already.

Water test was good.

Now just waitin on babies to pop up, then show me roots just peeking from the rooters. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks! Was a bit of relief.

Made another batch of coconut oil, then made a batch of gummies.

12g of bubble hash (half of what I got off the lemon drop trim/larf) in a cup of oil with a TBSP of lecithin. Came out fine, nothing strained out when I ran through cheesecloth and a sieve, so that was excellent.

3oz Watermelon Jello
2 knox packs
1tsp citric acid

1/2C strawberry watermelon juice
1tsp lecithin
1tbsp honey
1tsp coconut extract
1/4C coconut oil

Mixed the jello, knox, and citric acid in a bowl.

Mixed the juice, honey, coconut extract in another bowl.

Put oil in a saucepan with the stove set between 3 and 4 and got it heated.

Mixed the liquid bowl into the gelatin bowl, and stirred well, then added to the saucepan along with the lecithin.

Stirred and stirred for about 15 minutes until it was all dissolved nicely.

Stirred with one hand, filled molds with the other. I must have filled them all to the brim, as I only got 84 from this batch. Combined with a little less oil (1/4C vice a little over 1/3) and that’s probably the difference.

Popped em on the counter to get any air bubbles out, and into the fridge.

They’ve been in the fridge for about 45 min. Will bust em out in about 15 min, and then give one a shot. If my calculations are right, they should be about 15 to 20 mg each.

I believe so. At least I hope, I guess. You know how numbers and all that go when you're guessing.

It seems bubble comes out to 50%-65%, so multiply by grams, divide by 4 (used a 1/4C), then divide by number of gummies.

Should be about twice what my last batch was, so hopefully just right.

If too much, they’ll last a little longer. If not enough (I doubt it) then a little more oil next run.

Down the hatch!

Flavor: pretty darn good. No real hint of coconut, so maybe 2 tsp of extract next time or something. Mostly get the watermelon, like a jolly rancher, with a hint of strawberry. Slight taste of the oil, but not overpowering. Might be the lecithin I’m tasting.

Effect? Well, we’ll find out soon enough.
