Vortex's Lab: 4x4 Secondary Garden & Experimental Thread

I use turkey bags in a 5 gallon bucket with gamma seal lids.

Exactly what I'm doing, plus adding "burping" air. :D

Quick shout out to @BudgetLED!

Big thanks to Justin and everyone else over there for getting out a light order for me with a quickness! I'm a bit sad it's not going to go in one of my tents (Series 3+ R-Spec 250w), but my brother is going to love it. Damn, maybe I shouldn't have passed along the tracking info.

Anyway, a quick run to the store earlier, and now mixing up water. Back to trimming after a quick bite for lunch. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The chop is underway, as described. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to put into it yet. But, it's happening. Today will see the end of it.

Thus far, I've managed to trim up 4 side branches, and have filled 2/3 of my top space that is set up for drying. (1/3 of my space overall.) Looking at (what's left of) Lemmy in the tent, you can't really tell this is missing. Some of this may take a good bit to dry.

I'm going to have to round up more drying space, it seems. Shouldn't be terrible. Once the chop is done, I can hang the rest back in the tent. Just have to watch the exhaust speed as this tent is still using the 4x3 as one of the intakes.

Shouldn't be a huge deal though. I won't be ready to start the cleaning and next grow building process on it for another week or two anyway. Still have a few things to get, and next week I'll be away for 4 days.

gonna be a nice harvest. Go slow with the drying.

Thanks! Still have about 6 branches left. I think the over/under is going to be at 12 zips. Holy hell she’s got massive shit on her. Lot went to the trim pile even. Stuff the was borderline, and could probably just barely be ok... trim. And all that isn’t in the over/under. Already bagged up 2 of the 1 gallon ziploc bags of trim, and more to go.

I see some sort of trimmer in my future; probably one of the fan type ones.

As for slow, temp/rh is 70F/50%.

Sticky AF is the word. Anyway, back to the rest of it. Got just under 90 min to finish and hang.

Get Er done!

Got er did!

A) I still suck at hand trimming. Not in quality, but speed. I wasn’t even blasted. (If I am, it’s super slow.)

B) I need to build out some dedicated drying space, with it’s own filtration and equipment.

C) Thinking about a trim pro box, or similar fan-style.

Lemmy is toast. Buh bye. The tent is empty, no more girls.

Fear not though, I’ll be fixing that over the next few weeks. ;)

Alrighty then.

Did some research on these “machines”, and have it narrowed down to a couple options.

- The aforementioned TrimPro (trimbox station)

- Toms Tumbler (TTT 1600)

- Trimbag

No ideas after that. Thoughts?

First off the colas on that plant are thick AF!

Secondly that video of the curing dude was totally relaxing to watch that bare footed beauty, I like that dude. And his system looks sweet I’m looking forward to your test run.

I’d love to see someone use the trim bag. Looks interesting, not a fan of the bowl type trimmers.

I know hyena is using one, but hand trimming the tops. I've see demonstrations of it, and it would probably be alright.

Thanks! The tops turned out pretty ridiculous on her. Like 1Liter water bottle size, and dense too.

The bowl trimmers seem to bruise the buds. They turn out like a dark green.

I've seen that. Seems they tend to shave the very outside of the flower off or something.

From everything I've looked into, it looks like the 3 I mentioned should be alright. None will be like a hand trim, but they all seem like they would at least be as gentle as expected with something like that. I think I can live with that as a trade off. Not perfect, but should be ok.

Hand trim your best buds and mechanical trim the rest.

That’s my plan. Just not sure which one to get. I can see pros/cons of each.

I won’t buy another bowl trimmer personally

I don’t have any on my list.

One is a “fan” style, the other two are tumble style. The toms is a hand crank, the trimbag is similar but you turn the bag yourself.
