I realized after viewing the pics, what tank you were refering to... lmao... you thought it was the little tank in the right hand side of a pic. If you look at the lower left corner of the full VG view, you will see the upper shoulder, valve gaurd & assembly of my co2. :smokin:
 
Just read your thoughts about trusting someone with your grow, and thought about how I have never had any trouble when someone close, has looked after a grow for me. Those people that are really close know, well, you know, the SILENT PRIDE mantra we all sort of succumb too as the safest way to be.

I find it a laugh when I go to parties and there is someone there, who tries to tell me how to grow pot, who doesnt know that I grow pot!! I just smile and let it go......
 
lol, oh yeah. Ive been there DGMGH. lol, just the other day I was at a friends house and overheard a guy talking about pot, talking like he really knew his shit...like reeeaaallly knew his shit! I kinda shrugged and was like "hmm, thats neat, someone who knows about pot, cool" Im not really the type to talk about it at all and so I left the room. Well I come back in the room about an hour later and realise he is still just talking his head off, and I happen to hear him say quite argumentatively to someone "No! Sativa isnt even pot! Sativa is legal and you buy it at the head-shops", And I just laughed on the inside. Knowing that he had "sativa" and "salv*a" confused. I went to correct him and was shut down quite promptly with his response of "Are you trying to say I dont know what Im talking about?..IVE BEEN GROWING FOR ELEVEN YEARS!!!". I turned around and left.. all the while giggling on the inside once again. Me and my best friend who Ive known my whole life and does know whats up just looked at me like "seriously? hes trying to tell you about pot, why dont you set him straight?". We all know why I didnt, the goal is to keep a low profile, no matter what! Later that evening I heard him telling people that he grew the most amazing pot the world has ever seen solely under blacklights!... LMAO....seriously...blacklights??? What a morron.Ive heard of people using them to increase their resin content with UV but they definetally had real lights to, HPS, MH etc. And even later I heard him saying that he has the "bomb" from his grow room with him and its got fuzzy blue spots on it, that he grew on them intentionally ....supposedly. And of course we all know that it was just moldy bud that he was trying to pass off as good stuff, but at moments like these I wish I could just be like "dude, you have no clue at all do you" but for my reasons of staying anonymous and under the radar,.. I say nothing. And this happens all the time! Theres a lot of idiots out there and the ones running around telling everyone they see that "they grow the bomb" are probably the biggest idiots of all.
And ..Ah yes, I see the big tank now. How long does the big tank last you mximus? I use generators but I know a lot of people that use the 50lb tanks, and they refill about every 2 wks, how about you?
 
Well yeah it should only be on when the light is but really? Every two months? What do your ppms stay at in there. My friend runs his at 1300 I beleive, I usually do 1500 but the difference between the two is minimal, if existant at all. Do you know what your cubed footage of the room is?I beleive his is 300-400 ft cubed... Its hard to talk math on a computer that doesnt have the right buttoms , damn, never realised. oh yeah and he uses sentinel with the CO2 algorithm (fuzzy logic, or whatever you want to call it).Oh, and my whole point is it seems like something has to be wrong with his, I thought his went awfully fast. Im not sure but I would have thought those 50lb tanks would have lasted him atleast a month And Im pretty sure hes lucky if he gets 3 weeks. Anyhow if you know your square footage it would help me figure out if something is wrong or not. Thx man and sweet setup!
 
Greenie, loved your reply to the "I know how to grow" person we all know. CMX, hope you don't mind me being off topic yet again, but I was wondering if you 2 had ever come across the person who really bags your smoke? How do you handle negative feedback?
 
Regarding exposing your grow, and other details about hiding your light, here is 5,000 year old advice on the topic from the I Ching.

DGMGH: There's always someone who has an unfavorable opinion, often times I know it's not the bud quality, it's because I grew it, and they don't like me because I am succeeding where they have failed, or were afraid to venture. Might even be just because it's not a persons particular flavor! I try to take different opinions into perspective, even Trident only had three out of four dentists right? ;) lol

GI: My room specs are roughly 9'x16', I have no monitor, only the guidelines included with the regulator regarding flow and run times. Sounds like your buddy may be wasting a lot, how are his results? How often do you have to replenish your co2? I know I waste, but I do the best I can. The Quantum does rock, It's nice being able to adjust accordingly to the needs of different strains.

Max: I like the I-Ching, but tend to utilize the tarot more, both have enlightening messages and words of wisdom. Both have given me encouragement to persue, and maintain my course of action, with promise of good fortune, and accomplishment. I truly feel like I've been given the green light by karma to do my thing.
 
GI:
my room is 8x4x8 = 256 ft^3.

there is about 300 ppm co2 in the air naturally, and I want to reach 1500 ppm so i need to add 1200ppm, to the room to get it to the advised 1500 ppm.

256 ft^3 x .0012 = ~.31 ft^3 i need to add if the co2 has returned to ambient levels.

i have a 20 lb tank and dose twice a day for a half hour at 3cfh. this should add 1.5 ft^3 of co2. . . almost 5 times as much as I need!!!! each dosing. this is dosing almost 6000 ppm into my room, sounds like a lot, but some of it escapes at a constant rate, I have my air pump for res outside of the tent to get good o2 air in the res to keep DO up. this is probably creating a positive pressure inside the tent and displacing a decent amount of air/hr.

I wish i had a monitor, even if it made my tank go faster, i would know that my ppm is where i want it a all times. I will get a controller when i can afford it.

anyways my 20 lb tank has been dosing for about a month now, and still has a long way to go before i need to refill it. 3 weeks sounds like way too much dosing to me. . . but if you are losing the concentrations due to air exchange, then it could go fast! make sure the room you are dosing is sealed if you want to dose less. . . the point of dosing co2 is to have a sealed environment to keep the ppm high.

if you have a controller though, i would believe that it's keeping it exactly right. the way that they measure the co2 in the air is very accurate. (that's why they are hundreds of dollars.)

its probably easier for someone like CMX to shake off a bad comment or a hater because he is good at what he does, and he knows it. It would probably be different if he was just starting out and learning, and really wasn't doing a good job. it would be a lot harder to take that criticism if he believed it was true!

i am a man of faith, in that I have faith in myself. and on top of that, I grow for myself. so, i only need to please one person. ME! I have struggled every step of the way to learn how to cultivate a living, breathing, reactive, dynamic plant like we all do. some people are just good at it without much effort (my friend FB is like that, i tought him everything he knows, and he was better than me on his second grow! lol. but i still have more overall knowledge, if he reads this post. biotch!) thats not me, i have to give it everything I got.

My friends all appreciate the fact that i have top shelf bud to share with them, instead of the mexi-crap we can get readily in my area. They encourage me, and stick up for my weed, because it is in fact very good, and because i have good friends.

if you weed isn't great, at least it was cheap, and keep it up and you will get better. The bottom line is, if you do it for yourself, it wont matter what other people say. just believe in yourself and youll be happy all your life.

let the haters hate, and if they diss your shit, don't give them anymore. tell them they can smoke the local shit that smells like their mama's snatch. it's your shit. you have the power! plus when you get better, the'll never know, and they can go on in ignorant bliss, and so can you!

one last thing about co2.

your plants will only grow as fast as your weakest link in the grow chain.

amount of light
PH
DO in water
nutes in water
beneficial microbes
CO2
temperature
humidity

if any one of these is lacking. Increasing one of the other ones won't help. for instance, if you grow under CFL, it would be dumb to add co2. it won't help because light is a limiting factor. if you dont have an airstone in your res, it wont make a difference if you use a ton of nutes or none at all, with low DO, it won't make a diff.

see where i'm going?

its a delicate balance to get it all working at their individual peak performances.

The majority of the growth occured over the last couple days, with no signs of slowing, may have vegged it a day or two too long.... Also, I don't think I'm going to pull my bumper crop this time, I thought I had more of a monoculture running, but it's starting to look like a regular community, with diversity amongst its residents. Oh well, there's always the next run (right? WOF). I have someone who was/is very impressed with my results from the VG and is willing to finance another one for me!!! SO, I'm going to start taking clones today (already did 35 yesterday), I believe I'm going to try my GDP, as a seed it grows slender with minimal branching, hopefully creating some sweet colas. I've had the GDP for over a year, but it was always cloned, so this will be somewhat new to me as well. I figure being as I'm taking F1 clones, they should be true to the mothers growth pattern.

Ah yes, the stretch.... great goony goo-goo! These things are insane, I've been going in and pruning, and tipping, and tying....... and these things continue to explode. Quite possible not the best variety for the VG. :hmmmm:

Yeah i was thinking he was dosing a lot but I set his stuff up and he has a sentinel ppm meter and enviro controller. Its totally sealed with AC to keep it cool as well as all 3 of the 8" reflectors being aircooled. He doesnt even exhaust the room at all. Its completally sealed so Im kinda unclear how he is using so much CO2. I have always used generators so i wasnt familiar with the typical rates of CO2 injection from a tank. Ive set up many tank setups and never really had them go that fast before so I was just curious what it was taking you guys. So Im guessing he has a leak somewhere in the injection unit before it gets to the room. Or his ppm meter isnt calibrated correctly but if that were to be the case I would expect to see some CO2 burn and last I saw he didnt have any. And yeah he has plenty of lights nutes and everything else so he can definetally use the high ppms of CO2 in the room. Thx for everones input though, its very much appreciated, and your garden looks fantastic man. thx again!
