ViparSpectra LED Grow Light Discussions & Photography

How is it going @StoneOtter

I see your grow is coming along very nicely.
Also, I noticed you have the new light installed, looks impressive.
Does each light panel have it's own dimmer?
The dimmer is built on the driver, so only one dimmer.

Here some Sour G basking under the Viparspectra XS300 pro. Such a wonderful light. Sitting at 100%@14 in. They really packing on the weight with this light.. I am well pleased with Viparspectra... Thank you Miss Valerie!

Imo you’re not gonna find a better light for the price point of the XS-1500 Pro. I’m very impressed with this little light and using it now along with a Mars for my closet Golden Tiger. CL🍀

Hey TR what do you have on top of your pots? I don’t think I have ever seen anyone using something similar. CL🍀. :thumb:

Thanks for stopping by @CaptainLucky I hope all is well with you and yours.

When I grow in soil it is almost a guarantee that I will have an appearance of gnats. The top dressing is sand, is part of how I control them. When I water the sand pernitrates the upper layer of soil and make the soil very abrasive and I notice that they can't lay egg in it. The larva can't deal with the sand.

What I do.

Mix 30 grams of diatomaceous earth in a gallon container of RO water, shake very well. 30 grams for one gallon.
I pour this into a spray bottle and treat the top layer of soil. The solution is thick and falls out easily, so you need to shake the spray bottle occasionally. After I use up the solution on my plant I add a top layer of sand, maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The next time I top water the sand will pernitrates the soil, and will need to be replace once. I use a construction grade sand, playground sand is to fine and I never had any luck with it.

Hope this helps,
Tok..

edit: Do a search on gnats and sand.

I had the good fortune to grow under the ViparSpectra KS5000. I want to send out a big "THANK YOU" to
@ViparSpectra for the opportunity.

The KS5000 is a 500 watt light configured to cover a 4x4 footprint. It does and does it well!

What I loved about the light.

The design. It's light-weight and foldable, both ideal for movability and ease of storage.
Plus, it's just a pretty piece of equipment with a nice brushed metal finish.

1691087742622.png

The performance. It's bright as all get out and penetrates well. And it runs warm, not hot.
(It's designed so that the driver can easily be mounted outside the tent.)

There was nothing about the light that I did not like, though I would prefer more than 4
incremental settings for the dimmer knob. It goes from 25%, to 50%, to 75% and then full
power.

The plants grown were all photoperiods from seed. Gush Mints, Reeze McFlurry and Purple Star Killer, all
from Blimburn Seeds. All were grown in 3 gallon fabric pots. A Pineapple Express clone was also
grown with the group. Later on in the grow, another clone was added. So the light ended up
nurturing 5 plants in a 4x4 tent. Not a problem!

I started the seedling under the Viparspectra XS1000, another outstanding little light. They remained under
the XS1000 until they were up-potted. Once in their 3 gallon pots they were moved into my 4x4 tent under
the KS5000 on their Day 21.

There was a slight learning curve. I initially had the light set to 75% but soon learned that
that was too high. The plants took off once I lowered it to 50%. I didn't turn it back up to
75% until I flipped them. Then on Flip + 6 I turned it up to full power.

1691088165963.png

1691088526944.png

In the end all the plants did great -- good quality and impressive yields.

I am going to run this one Fruity Pebbles under this VA 600 and post daily results from start to finish if I can. I will veg until the plant almost fills the 4x4 tent then flip her. Today will be day one. I put her in larger container with Happy frog soil last night so she needs to put down some roots then she will be off to the races. Fruity Pebbles gets HUGE when vegged and fed properly.

Here's the ViperSpectra 450w Cobb, my student is using it to learn. SS grower

They have a fantastic deal on their new @ViparSpectra XS-1500 Pro. Imo there isn’t a better light for the price. I was very impressed with the light distribution n how evenly it was spread. CL🍀. :thumb: :circle-of-love:
