I've noticed that as well where I can easily see the original root ball from each container. I'm thinking of earlying up my transplant game, which might mean the DV goes 7 gallons this weekend and the Candida mother gets tossed (because clones).After harvest when I emptied the pot and reclaimed some of the soil for my outdoor garden, I could see original container shape with sparse roots coming off of it. They failed to use the entire five gallon pot. The rootball was so dense I had a really hard time breaking it up. Plants that I transplant before that have better root formation that fills the entire pot.
