Vetsmoke Goes Perpetual With Bonsai Mothers, Clones & DIY Builds

Almost forgot. So I've decided for the next grow to change things up slightly. Still using biobizz soil but I've just had delivered some organic nutrients from living soils. I got their wormcast, grow and bloom amendments. For flowering I will order the bloom 2 and barley powder. Likely in the next week I will pop the wedding cake bean and mix some of the wormcast and grow to a tub of soil to cook for 2 weeks. Living Soils recommend to use a light mix soil and cook for 2 weeks before transplanting into it. The nutrients are a bit like a UK version of Geo Flora. I will top dress every week or two and just use ph'd water. Looking forward to seeing how they work. It's quite cool that they make every order up fresh.

The info on the 'grow' amendment.

This is arguably the most important of our mixes: Grow provides your substrate with all the macro and micro nutrients and trace elements that your plant will use through the vegetative stage and beyond. When added to a good, light compost mix, our unique blend of natural ingredients used in 'Grow' will help you cultivate vigorous, healthy and organic plants.

In this blend we have added 18 different species of mycorrhizal fungi to assist with reaching and processing all available nutrients in your substrate. We have also added powdered volcanic rockdust (which contains two thirds of all non-synthetic minerals known to man) to provide heaps of essential trace elements.

This mix will assist your plant throughout the vegetative stage, ensuring it develops rapidly and without deficiency. For maximum nitrogen we include loads of insect frass, blood meal and alfalfa meal as well as bokashi to further encourage microbial life.

Using this mix from the beginning of the vegetative stage will maximise yield and improve aroma and taste whilst it will also ensure your requirements for additional fertilisers are dramatically reduced.

When setting up their initial mix, many of our customers also like to add some of our Wormcasts

Key ingredients

  • Mycorrhizal fungi
  • Insect frass
  • Volcanic rockdust
  • Bokashi bran
  • Alfalfa meal

Organic smoke is definitely the way to go... much less harsh on the body even if you over-fertilize. Only down side is the gas that is released by the decomposition process... you might notice some irritation from it if you are growing in your living space (I think you are but I'm not 100%)

That single reason is why I have yet to switch to organic... guess I'll just have to wait for my dream greenhouse.

I feel like a loser having to tell you that but figured I'd give you a heads up.
Why mate? Good info to pass on. Wasn't something that I'd thought about. You think with a max of two 3 gallon pots it would produce enough gases to cause any bother? I worked in a food waste anaerobic digestion plant for a while and had no issues.

The bedroom is a bit smelly this afternoon. Haven't figured out if it's the new tent or the DIY tent letting it escape. Need to figure it out sooner than later.

sweet new digs vet.

still trying to suss the box and ventilation. is the fan is boxed with intake one side and exhaust the other ?

I'd turn up the exhaust fan speed and create negative pressure to see if that helps? Or if you have an inlet can try turning that off or down.

The extraction ducting is running out the top of the tent, down the left side, into the box and out on the right side. The intake is passive on the left side of the tent.

Can see I've got negative pressure but I'll try turning it up. First thing I'll check is the seal on the ducting to the carbon filter. Could be sucking unfiltered air straight out. It may well be the DIY tent as I already know that's crap at containing smell and the reversal projects are in that. Think I'll just give up on those and scrap them.

so far so good.
is there a scrubber in the loop ?
and is it exhausting in to the closet ? :)

nvm. i see you have the scrubber. trying to figure out where in the loop it is. i keep re-reading lol
It's inside the tent. Yes exhausting in the cupboard but leave the doors open most of the time and bedroom windows to allow fresh air in and out. Unfortunately can't vent straight outside.

no worries.

i give folk shit all the time about ventilation. but everyone works with the parameters they are dealt.
nothing i do is any where near what i would like either. we all work with it.

my veg space is also internally vented.

so is it filter > tubing > box/fan > hole in box exhaust ?

Opened the flower tent and got blasted with a wall of 99% humidity hot air. Maintenance brain kicked in. Start at the beginning and work back. Carbon filter still attached securely to the ducting....check, trace ducting back looking for any holes.........ahhh shit that's the problem

Don't have enough spare ducting right now to switch it out so I've bodged it all back together with extra wide electrical tape. After a few mins RH was down to 60% and should still drop some more. Seems to be working.

In more positive news I maybe shouldn't give up on the critical mass reversal at least.

you'll get better scrubbing with the filter closer to fan. it isn't going to pull near as much being the last thing in the chain. it's best stuck closest to the filter.

if you leave it last in the chain try running it full on. it will have to move to more air to be effective.

I am not an indoor grower but I will try to remember that for if ever do.
