Wired the fan up to the speed controller. No hum at 110V which is great but the bearing sounds a bit crap. Hoping being inside the box will muffle it a bit. If not I'll be tempted to pull it apart and fit some better quality bearings.

Not much to report today. Was expecting the new tent to be delivered but it was a no show. Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow. Everything else is sat waiting on that and the plants are starting to need that extra room.

The OGK #1 has some slight colour coming out at the top which looks cool.

If not I'll be tempted to pull it apart and fit some better quality bearings.

I've had good luck using liquid PTFE on a few fans. No good on sealed bearings but most fans have an open cage bearing.
Liquid PTFE does dry and leaves a nice slippery coating on the surface.

Well putting up this new setup is taking longer than I'd expected. Getting there though. Tent is up, filter hanging, TS600 hanging. Just got to connect the ducting up, hang the USB fans and slot it all into place now. Might get a photo update later.

New gear to upsize current garden.


What an effort that was. Had a loooong day. Got Thing #2 some rats for his birthday so spent the afternoon building a 3 storey palace for them and then this evening putting up the new gear.

Still needs some tweaking but I've had enough tonight. It's working and the plants are in. Need to fit the forced intake at some point but the 6" passive will have to do for now. My boxed in fan system seems to be working as the only noise is the quiet flow of air expelling from the ducting.

Couple of quick snaps. I'll kick off a separate journal tomorrow for @Mars Hydro.

Cheers bud. Yeah I'm happy with how it's all fitted together and an extra 20cm in each direction seems a huge difference. I don't do ironing anymore. Had enough of that in the military

Have you lined the interior of the box with anything? Use a cloth or something to soften the noise.

Got two old pillows in there. Can't hear anything from the fan just the air venting. Seems to be working okay.

Little pic of the bonsai mum's tonight. I'm still not sure my reversal attempt has worked on the two in the DIY tent. I fear not but will keep them going a little longer just to be sure. Will get some pics of them tomorrow.
