Hey 420 Magazine! I’m back for another grow…and as usual, several events have delayed me getting started! So I’m just going to get this going right now, and worry about a lot of the details along the way!
If you followed my last journal, the room is the same...but that's about where the similarities are going to end! This will be my first attempt at a true High Brix grow, in a purpose-built High Brix soil, courtesy of Doc Bud's kit! If you're not familiar with it, take a look here: "In the Lab" with Doc Bud
Now a caveat… This journal is going to be a little different from the last one. I haven’t been feeling all that well lately, and have good days, and bad days, so please don’t be offended if I can’t always offer a detailed response. I'm trying to keep things chill, and keep the positive vibes flowing around here...so I’m planning on keeping this really low-key.
I like pictures, so I’ll be posting plenty of them along the way…and with any luck, they’ll be plenty of bud porn! I’d like this to be a place that I can hang out, share some pics and chat about what’s going on in my garden, and maybe get some opinions and feedback along the way. The members here are more like family to me, so I hope if you’re following, you’ll join in on the conversation!
I'll be growing Dutch Passion Blueberry this time around. I may as well get things started with some pics I posted in my last journal. I started with sixteen cuttings...
A couple of them didn't root...a couple more were discarded because I wasn't happy with the root systems they had, and a couple more that weren't keeping pace, were culled along the way...leaving me with these ten plants. As you can see, they are in .3 gallon Air-Pots at the moment...but that's only temporary. Right now they are in recycled, re-mineralized soil from my last grow while the new soil is in the basement cooking.
They were topped last week, and look something like this close up.
I had some delays getting the new soil going, but here it is. Three bales worth of Promix HP, amended with the minerals in Doc Bud's kit and some worm castings, and watered in with the tea that comes with it. I could only come up with twelve pounds of worm castings, so that's only 4 pounds per bale, but the EWC are optional anyway...
I have the covers for these cans, but it was snowing out, and I didn't feel like going out to the garage to get them...plastic works just as well.
Instead of Air-Pots, this time I'll be using Square Root Aeration Containers...just like Smart Pots...only square. I've used the 3 gallon ones before, but these are 7 gallon containers...and I have nine of them.
The room is set up pretty much the same way as the last run, except the grow tray is now on blocks, 12 inches off the floor instead of in the DIY PVC stand on casters I used last time. I have all my girls, including moms in here right now, but they'll be going back into the Mom Cave after I switch over to HPS.
Well, I think that's enough to get the ball rolling! Stay tuned!
