It’s is pure organic sprouted barley, reduced so makes a thick liquid. Saves the trouble of buying the barley, sprouting it and later reducing the water to its sugar content.

Any thoughts for those using sprouted barley for their growth hormones properties?

I'd imagine you'd lose some of the goodness in the reduction process. You can just buy the malted barley in bags at a brew store or on-line. I got a 10lb bag for not all that much.

Malted means it was sprouted and then immediately dried stopping the process but preserving the goodness. No need to sprout your own.

Then I grind it down to use it in a coffee grinder. The finer the grind the better.

Yep. He says 15-20% faster. But also has chitin for bug protection and enzymes to help break down organic matter faster. Lots of good properties. You can read the interview he did with KisOrganics Here

Been doing some research and started thinking ahead for my next grow, working the soil and microbes.

I’m thinking two things;

The sprouted barley using it as soil amendment and this syrup to go with JMS and foliar. Just curious about that syrup of malted barley, there is some sugar content in it so me thinking good substitute for the molasses I was using with my JMS mix for foliar.

I have also seen the malted barley in whole, just wondering about the rapidness of it breaking down, I know mycelium loves barley so I’m keen to add this to my grows next time around.

ya D I perused a bit of clacamas coot ,, so far he talks mainly of feeding it to his worms (the sprouted barley)says they go crazy on it, no mention of the syrup, But he did mention making a tea and aerating for 4 hrs , use it fresh ,

Weekend update;

They are alive and going. I took the pictures on Friday, since then a first frost hit and today snow is supposed to be falling. We are really getting to the point of no return here as I don’t see the weather getting any better despite the odd sunny days. The real question for me is how long do I wanna run this experiment?
On the note of plant health I did not see mold, bud rot or PM, so late in the season PM is not an issue anymore it’s gonna be mold and rot.
The buds are spaced out and I think that helps with air flow avoiding the rot. I have stopped watering/feeding anything and for this time I skipped the foliar with Willow JMS.

Still can’t believe how healthy this pheno looks, it’s like if nothing happens to it if the temperature drops or rains and snows. Impressive genetics here so resistant and green.
Didn’t do anything to it, no water no foliar, just looked at it for a while wondering like what the heck are you?? What’s you gene pool and why are you so green when it’s so cold? I can’t resist to just see how far can it go, December first?

This is the bud left for seeds of the Durban Poison, still alive and doing its thing. I didn’t like the size of the seeds so I didn’t harvest, gave it another week like the rest.

Good genetics to be sure, but maybe that willow foliar is a powerful input. Maybe next year it would be worth trying two plants, one with, the other without and see if you can see a difference.

And could you post that up in the 'Mold vs Microbes' thread? Several different combinations of things being tried over there and this one will certainly be of interest to the group.

Hey Jonny5 do you have an indoor grow happening? I just took down some pineapple chunk. I've started up a blue cookies now and purple orange CBD I'll give it a go
also through in some of my 20 year old hashplant seeds to see if I can get that going again fingers crossed but I doubt it

No indoor, had a light but it was taken by some thieves,, so haven’t replaced it,, I have a decent sun room so I’ll be planting seeds in early March getting ready for another outdoor grow ,, I may get another light just to try some autos,, some nice looking Sativas out there,,

I’m back bro, I took some time off. Since my last post I have harvested another plant and I still have the one Filipino unknown Sativa going. I gotta put some pictures.

Do’n good man,, Top shelf as they say “ can’t believe that one plant is still out there and alive, You sure its a Jamaican and not some wild strain from Antarctica,? The cure is still going, had me a sample couple days ago, nice hi , not a heavy hitter, but that’s ok,, I like being able to get stuff done when I’m high, not a big fan of couch lock, it seems to have lost a bit of its terp profile on the nose, but its nice and smooth on the smoke ( with tastes of marijuana and notes of THC ) Good to know your still alive and well,every now and then I know its kind of hard to tell,, all we can do is take a bite out of the corner of the box and keep chewing

I unplugged for a while but didn’t finish my journal and still have a standing plant. Here is what o got for this week;

Personal Sativa

I harvested this pheno on Nov 15, at this time temperatures are well under 10c and we had at least 3 frost and one day of snow. The amount of sunlight is marginal and didn’t seem to be doing much for fatting buds, so o decided it was enough for this one. Not the biggest haul but many things positive came from this plant; not a single bud rot or mold, no PM. I can’t stop reporting this no bud rot. If anyone has been following this journal and is looking for a (what seems effective) method to prevent and potential treat PM, mold or Bud rot, I would highly suggest using Willow tree Leaf or bark JMS. I have been using this for over 3 months of flower and have found surprising success.
Next thing to notice is the development of adventitious roots as shown in some of the pictures taken of root mass. This is exciting (at least for me) since a new way to repot the phenos is on the way for me, I figure that every time I repot and upsize an inch or two of the stem should go in the soil to promote the creation of these roots.

This pheno is unstoppable, I decide that she should keep going until well she literally freezes. My next visit will be December 1st. The pheno is green as it ever was, not showing any signs of mold, rot, PM or nutrients deficiency. She ain’t perfect as you can see no big buds almost no buds at all, but does have trichomes… on that note the importance of letting her experience well very well the Canadian weather, hopefully we got the seeds and next year we give her another run. My buddy can’t believe that plant is still alive. LOL

On another note; the clones in the bush were harvested as well, they ran with lot more trouble, we had a wind storm and they had been beaten up but still alive and they had some seed
